    Gyro Sandwich

Met up with some family members. We started out with some stuffed grape leaves which were very good. Then we had saganaki "Opa". I enjoyed a gyro sandwich and we had a spicy gyro sandwich. Service was great. We had an enjoyable time.

I would give this restaurant 10 stars if I could! I have eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner at Mt. Athos and have never had a bad meal. Absolutely delicious!

We were in the Florence area for some other activities and decided to stop at Mount Athos for a late lunch. It seems like it's in the middle of nowhere but they have much to offer here. Their food is delicious, the service is attentive and the prices are reasonable. There was a meeting taking place in one area of the restaurant and's many other tables filled with patrons so it was a great indication that it's quite a popular local hang out. We had the Chicken Souvlaki pitas and were very happy with our tasty bites! The next time we're out in this area we'll have to come back for more tasty Greek goodness!

Returned with a group of 6 for lunch. Comfortable seating. Hailey took our orders and kept our drinks refilled. Had the Greek salad with gyro meat. Very nice. Big chunks of gyro, not little slivers. Very enjoyable

I've lived in Florence for nine years now and only recently tried Mt Athos, which was really a shame because the food was excellent. I believe that it's because I'm not really into Greek food,so I just didn't give it a shot. But they do pasta, burgers, liver and onions and so on. So don't wait, give them a shot. I am sorry I didn't do so until now.

A Saturday afternoon, and getting hangry. Tried another place in town, and couldn't get any service. Drove right over here, was Welcomed and seated right away and placed orders. We both knew what we wanted, in a Greek restaurant, gyros! Very pleasant waitress brought our gyro dinners which included a large serving of good gyro slices, a mound of rice, a smaller mound of very tasty carrots, and a nice little salad. Service was let's say, relaxed! We don't mind waiting for freshly made food. Everything was tasty, ample and pleasing. Old school ambience fitted the small town atmosphere. Living in Queen Creek, it's an easy drive, and worth it. We will be returning.

The food was solid and tasty. Large portions, good prices, and much of it made in house. We had the gyro, hummus, and grilled chicken Greek salad and enjoyed all of it. The chicken had good flavor and was more roasted chicken versus a grilled breast which was a wonderful surprise. The salad was huge and fresh. The gyro was tender with lots of flavor. All the pita was warm and there was plenty with hummus and salad. The hummus was a particular stand out with jalapeño and cilantro. It was tasty, smooth, and not oily. As noted the prices were very affordable and the portions were large. They have burgers and fries and dinner plate options as well. If you need a quick bite this is a good place to stop.

The lemon potatoes are terrific as is the rice pudding. I would love to see them start selling HALVAH because there just isn't enough of it in Arizona! The only things that are so-so about the place have nothing to do with the food. The waitress never gave us or offered us any refills on drinks. She was gone most of the night. There's an upcharge for fresh bread and so I said yeah, we'll do it. She said she'd bring out the pee-packaged pita bread and the fresh bread that we paid extra for. Then she never brought out the pee-packaged stuff like she said she was going to. The bread was ok, but they only gave us 3 pieces of pita bread which were about the size of a sand dollar. This was not enough bread for 2 people with 3 dips. Also, the fries were the kind of fries you get when it looks like they haven't cleaned the grease in a while. The babaganoush was really good. But everything else was pretty mediocre. I've been here 3 or 4 times and everytime I feel as though the service is bad and the food is overpriced. It's really sad, but I want to like this place, but I can't. Also, they have a rewards program but my waitress didn't try to get me to sign up. I asked when I saw it. It's a pet peeve of mine. But- I guess she doesn't really care or offer it because she probably doesn't think people will come back. My friend who joined me tonight is Muslim and she needed a place to pray, but this place didn't have one. I was surprised to learn that tonight as well. Spend your money elsewhere.

Simple surroundings, but excellent food. This is one of those places, in my opinion. Ordered the Greek salad w/ beef kabob. They even asked how I wanted the meat prepared. I went for rare, and it was rare. Very fresh greens, soft and warm pita bread. Dressing on the side, which I like, because Greek dressing can sometimes be a little acidic. This was not. Smooth, with light acidity. Very tasty. The meat (see picture) was loaded on and delicious. Charred nicely on the outside, rare inside. Presented very well. Baklava for desert. What can I say - I've never really had bad Baklava. Very buttery, honey, pistachios. I'm giving five stars, because I didn't expect this to be so tasty. Expected good. Nothing fancy as far as dining, but very clean. But I don't order the tables and chairs - I order the meal, and that's what I eat. You order at the counter and they serve. The young lady was very friendly - perhaps limited English, but no one was rude. She served my food, and I forgot to grab utensils. She went back to get them w/ no attitude. I saw the cook (maybe the owner/mgr?) serve a couple and very friendly. I saw some bad reviews regarding service, so just wanted to explain that didn't happen to me. Anyway, I will go back here. It's $9.99, so basically $10 for about an ounce and a half of beef on a pretty basic store bought pita. Does it taste good? Yes it does, but for ten dollars, I'd definitely expect at least two more slices of meat. It just is not worth what is charged. I did not get the full meal with fries but it is $5 more to add fries to your order and I just can't imagine that it would be worth it. I did see another customer with fries and at best, I'd expect to pay maybe $3 more for what they were served. I don't expect to return. It's too bad because everything does taste good. Last night's visit solidified for me that it just isn't good here anymore. We used to love this spot, but our dinner last night felt like a series of unfortunate culinary choices: The Dolmades: They arrived sporting a weird, opaque film complete with unexplained chunks. It looked less like a traditional glaze or olive oil and more like a science experiment gone wrong. The Falafel: I'm not sure if these were meant for human consumption or if they were mistakenly harvested from a Lego set. They were minuscule, aggressively overcooked, and packed a random, spicy punch that felt more like a defensive mechanism than a flavor profile. The Gyro: The classic toppings were a bit of a ghost town. It featured zero tomatoes and a generous helping of onions that had definitely crossed over into "spoiled" territory. The only pleasant part of our meal were the spanakopita, which are obviously purchased, not made on site. It's genuinely disappointing to see a reliable favorite slide so far downhill. Here's hoping they can channel a bit of Joe's original standards and turn things around, but for now, we'll be getting our Mediterranean fix elsewhere.
