I am just reviewing the menu as an advertised Greek Restaurant using the sacred Greek Mount Anthos as its name. True Greek restaurants always have Greek staples on the menu... Pasitsio and Mousaka They are no where to be be found. This is a typical Gyro level Greek imitiation restaurant not a true Greek restaurant. If their menu included Greek real dinner staples rather than Gyros , I would drive 30 minutes to go there but it doesnt. I am not reviewing their food or service because I haven't been there just their menu. It isnt a True Traditional Greek Restaurant like Ikaros in Baltimore Md or Mylos in Mclean Va. Too bad... if you like Gyros fine but I am a Greek i want real Greek food. Using Mount Anthos as their name is trying to draw true Greeks with no real Greek menu... No thank you. read more

We popped down to Florence from Queen Creek and ended up here because the BBQ place was closed. This is a very nice place and our server, Paty, was terrific! We ordered the gyro and the lamb melt. The lamb was nice, but slightly overcooked for my preference, but the dipping sauce was delicious. The gyro was good; the sauce had a strong cucumber taste (I prefer a light cucumber touch, but I know most people love cucumber). There was a lot of moist meat inside! Mt. Athos is a great place to eat. Excellent food, friendly staff and atmosphere. The food taste really good and they give you plenty. We have had the gyros which if you have been to Greece these are spot on! The burgers are juicy with great flavor. Definitely a great place to stop. read more

Met up with some family members. We started out with some stuffed grape leaves which were very good. Then we had saganaki "Opa". I enjoyed a gyro sandwich and we had a spicy gyro sandwich. Service was great. We had an enjoyable time. read more

Was in Florence area for the day so took a look at lunch places on Yelp and found a Greek place. Perfect, we will be able to have a gyro, some salad, a simple lunch and continue on our way. As we approached the intersection to the restaurant from the main road, I actually thought it was closed. But as we passed my wife saw someone around back. I circle the block and find the parking lot and the entrance is actually in back. Now the parking lot was an adventure. Narrow spots to park. I would recommend parking a truck on the street. Entering I waited at the front and a woman approached. She said nothing. I didn't know if I'm supposed to seat myself or is she the hostess. "Two?" Oh hi, yes, please. Seats us walks away. Then I see some obvious regulars coming in and the hostess, management and servers were all chummy and nice. I got a look from what I think is the manger/owner? And she looks away and walks by. So no one really cared to engage with us as I guess newbies or "not from around here"? So after sitting down we are immediately asked what we'd like to order, and I ask for a bit of time. Oh and this is by who I thought was the hostess. She's our waitress. Food was actually good - the gyro I had was generous in the meat and had all the usual fixings except for cucumber. But I literally got a gyro and a ketchup cup of coleslaw for twenty dollars. Ridiculous. Is this New York? Oh well, lessons learned. read more

I'm sorry to say I have been so disappointment by this restaurant, after hearing/reading great reviews. I ordered the gyro platter, other than the salad everything else was not good, the gyro was soggy, almost like it was cooked in the oven and it was left to soak in its juices, it was like eating boiled meatballs. The rice had to much seasoning which was the only think I could taste, I don't know if it was cumin or what seasoning they use but was over powering, service was great and our server was very attentive. My Mediterranean regulars are Opa Life Tempe and Pita Jungle. Since we had to take a drive to Florence we looked on yelp to see where we could get Greek. When we came in to Mount Athos, we weren't even greeted with a hello or smile. The young lady asked, "for two" and showed us to our seat. I hadn't even sat down (my husband went to the restroom when we walked in) and she was asking if I wanted tea or water. As soon as my husband sat down she asked if we were ready to order, I said we needed a few minutes. Was feeling like someone really didn't like their job or us first timers. The food at Mount Athos was good but pricy $$ for what you got. A Gyro pita with a pickle and a catchup cup (2T) of coleslaw was $14.10. If you wanted salad or fries with it, it was an additional $5.28. Though our waitress wasn't pleasant, until she brought the bill, another waitress walked by and smiled at us. Also, while eating we were asked by the manager how our meal was. We'll just chalk it up to a bad day for our waitress!! read more

We were in the Florence area for some other activities and decided to stop at Mount Athos for a late lunch. It seems like it's in the middle of nowhere but they have much to offer here. Their food is delicious, the service is attentive and the prices are reasonable. There was a meeting taking place in one area of the restaurant and's many other tables filled with patrons so it was a great indication that it's quite a popular local hang out. We had the Chicken Souvlaki pitas and were very happy with our tasty bites! The next time we're out in this area we'll have to come back for more tasty Greek goodness! read more

Stopped in for lunch a few days ago. The lamb shank was the daily special, and even though it's a dinner item they were able to rustle up one for me for lunch. The lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender and moist. The rice was wonderful, really liked the spices. The carrots were very over-done, to the point of being mushy. Flavor was great, just overdone. My wife had the gyros sandwich which is always wonderful here. She really liked the flavor of the onions, whatever kind they are they're great! The place is pretty quiet once the snowbirds are gone, but that just means no waiting for us year-rounders! read more

I believe that it's because I'm not really into Greek food,so I just didn't give it a shot. But they do pasta, burgers, liver and onions and so on. So don't wait, give them a shot. A Saturday afternoon, and getting hangry. Tried another place in town, and couldn't get any service. Drove right over here, was Welcomed and seated right away and placed orders. We both knew what we wanted, in a Greek restaurant, gyros! Very pleasant waitress brought our gyro dinners which included a large serving of good gyro slices, a mound of rice, a smaller mound of very tasty carrots,and a nice little salad. Service was let's say, relaxed! We don't mind waiting for freshly made food. Everything was tasty, ample and pleasing. Old school ambience fitted the small town atmosphere. This restaurant was recommended to my family and I by my friend. We were on our way back from St Anthony's Monastery, and Mount Athos was suggested as a stop for lunch. Firstly, this place is authentically Greek owned and the family is wonderful! My family and I are Greek, so we were looking forward to trying it out and it did not disappoint! From the service, to the atmosphere, to the generous plates of food, this place is a must to visit if you're in Florence. We ordered the Mediterranean charcuterie board, two gyro plates and a cheeseburger, and everything was delicious. Sas efxaristoume, we had a wonderful time and hope to be back at some point again! Came here while we were in town for my sons wedding at the windmill winery. Food was delicious, service was excellent and restaurant was clean. My daughter had the Gyro plate and said it was the best she has had. I had the special chicken parmigiana delicious and my son had the chicken sandwich he said it was amazing. An absolutely wonderful restaurant! Located in a very attractive building with a very pleasing and immaculately clean decor. Extremely pleasant and attentive service. We did not try any of the Greek menu items but will on our next visit. Instead, we had the evening Italian special (Chicken Parmesan with a salad) and a fantastic Florence burger. Eight of us ate here yesterday. First, when you walk in the door, everyone was friendly. Because we had a party of 8, we were placed toward the back of the restaurant. The room was nicely decorated. A dish named Zeus was recommended so we all ordered it. This was the best Greek food I have had since being in Greece. The portion was huge so it made two meals for me. Pretty ok but different. I truthfully want to give 3.5. I wanted a healthy dinner but there aren't many options, but I figured Greek would be the best. Gyro sandwich - The meat is 5x thicker than any gyro meant I've had. It's very good but the gyro is over stuffed with meat, onion, tomato, and sauce. I really wished there was cucumbers and lettuce in it. The pita was plush. The taste was good, but it's weird to eat meat wrapped in a mushy blanket. I wish the pita was toasted for better texture and stability. It came with a sliced pickle (didn't look fresh enough so I didn't eat it), and cold slaw (random item, but good) . Fries- I ordered steak fries and most of them were stale, and mixed in with regular fries. Greek side salad - its lettuce, feta, olives, and a dolmade. The dolmade tasted weird and kinda dry. The salad comes without dressing which is weird. Overall great bang for you buck gyro meat wise, but skip the fries and salad. read more
