(How Florence, Arizona has better calamari than anything I ever tasted in Spain is beyond me, but they do!) My other surprise was when our waitress Cheryl remembered me by NAME, even though it had been a year since I had visited. Valentino's has five star food and service, and I can't recommend it enough!

Our entrees, spaghetti with meatballs and the baked lasagne were very good as was the salad-all very fresh. Our service was ok, but our waitress couldn't get the bartender to make our drinks. We had to ask for them 3 times and the bartender was either not even behind the bar or was just chatting with people sitting at the bar...in other words, the bartender just wasn't working. When we did get them, my husband's drink was terrible. He ordered a dirty gin martini and it looked like the bartender had poured a half a jar of olive juice in his glass. And these were not cheap cocktails. $15 for a martini and $12 for my tall Tito's with club soda...they charged me an extra $1 for my tall glass. We didn't try the pizzas but they looked good coming out of the kitchen. We will go back to try them at some point, but we won't order any of their overpriced cocktails next time.

They also didn't offer anything extra for the inconvenience. no complimentary order next time, just a credit for the two meatballs I never received, which is the bare minimum since I already paid for them. Between the repeated mistakes and the lack of real customer service, I won't be ordering from here again. My wife and I have lived in Florence for well over 20 years, and we remember when A&M was THE place to go eat. We were there at least once per week for pizza, subs, salads, pretty much everything on the menu. We ordered a philly cheesesteak sub, fries and a grilled chicken Caesar salad. They forgot the roll and Caesar salad dressing for my wife's salad, the fries were a bit overcooked, and my sub had what looked like some sort of meat with onions in it. I cannot truly identify it as a philly cheesesteak sandwich. Just for context, this was on a Sunday afternoon, and when I went to pick up the order, there were maybe two people in the place and the parking lot was empty. It's just disappointing. Their food is extremely hit-or-miss when ordering. The pizza is typically good, but occasionally it does come soggy with oil or they skimped on the toppings. I would like to see them get their quality back up consistently to justify their price increases over the years. read more

Second best pizza I've ever had! The premiere pizza was at The Good Life Cafe in Iida, Nagano, Japan. Ex-pat Bobby from Baltimore ages his dough for 3-5 days and makes a Diablo pepperoni pizza that is the best thing I've ever eaten. I've spent several years trying to find something in the US that even comes close. This is it. Last night I had "The Original Italian Pizza" and added pepperoni and black olives. Here's the description from the menu "Fresh homemade mozzarella cheese, fresh ground tomatoes, basil, imported olive oil, grated Romano cheese and a pinch of oregano make this pizza ....." Yes, that's right--fresh homemade mozzarella! It makes that plastic crud at Pizza Hut seem like the true abomination it is! This was a magnificent pizza in a decor that would make Restaurant Impossible cringe, but nobody cared! The place was packed, there for the food, not the decor.
