When I pulled my car in after 20 minutes, only THEN did they tell me the price they gave on the phone was for -cash- only. I came here on a Sunday after seeing good reviews on Yelp, and it was a plus that they were open since a lot of smog check places are closed on Sundays. The shop is right up the street from me, which made it super convenient. I was shopping around for prices, and when I asked, the guy told me it was $69.99 but said he'd give me a discount, I think around $15 off. Then he mentioned an extra $10 state fee, plus another fee if I used a card. At the end of the day, the total came out to $70, which was only $5 less than the first place I checked, so the "discount" didn't feel like much of a deal. Still, it wasn't unreasonable. At first, the guy seemed a little short, which would've made me leave a different kind of review. He asked for my DMV paperwork, which I didn't have on hand right away, and explained that he needed it because people try to scam which I get. The smog test itself was done in about 10-15 minutes. While I waited, I went to Copenhagen down the street for some pastries, and by the time I came back, my car was ready. He gave me my paperwork and said the results were already sent to the DMV. By the end, he warmed up a bit, much friendlier and even offered a heads-up that gas prices were going up, so I should fill up today. A small touch, but appreciated. Bottom line: Fast service, conveniently located near the DMV, and open on Sundays. Just be aware that even with all the "discounts," you're likely walking out paying $70. Not a scam, but not the crazy deal it might seem at first either. Still, for the speed and convenience, I'd come back. If you have your kiddos with you, it's directly across from a park, which is so convenient. read more
