Needed a smog on tight notice. Called John (manager) and he was polite and told me to come in. Long story short, my car failed because I had recently replaced my dead battery and it reset all my sensors. Dennis gave me the bad news and told me I had to drive the car around. After about 100 miles of driving around LA freeways at midnight, I brought it back in. Passed the smog John and Dennis were great through out. My go to mechanic is now Marina Shell. About a month ago, I needed a Smog Check and decided to try them. Quick and easy it was done. I met John the owner and told him that I would return for servicing when needed. Today, the low tire pressure light went on. I called John and he said bring the car right in. Upon doing so, all of the service bays were occupied. I was met by German, one of the mechanics and told him of the tire problem. He said "put it right here". In minutes, he found a nail in the tread. My wheel lock key was buried in my trunk. He said, "no worries, I have a kit that will work." Five minutes later, the tire was plugged and back on the car. My fear that I would need a new tire was assuaged. Cost me 25 bucks, not $250-300 as I had feared. Saw John on the way out and once again he was friendly and engaging. Great place. read more

I just went into the Shell to fill up my gas can for my boat Dinghy, it's a 2 1/2 gallon can and I got charged for over 3 gallons. I brought it up to the manager and employee and all I received was questions and disbelief not even a sorry. They just said it can't be that off, But as I was showing them the can and the receipt they thought I was faking the receipt So I had to show them the numbers on my credit card. This is probably the best service station I have ever been to. I got a flat tire yesterday afternoon and luckily was super close to this service station so I pulled in and told one of the service technicians what happened. He right away opened my trunk and put on my spare, finished in like 5 minutes! Then they called in a brand new tire for me, and told me to come back the next morning to get it fixed. As promised, they called the next morning to tell me the tire was ready, and when I got there it was the same, they fixed it super fast all while being so super friendly! Just to reiterate what I had read before going here, honesty is the name of their game. Very great crew of guys and they get work done in a timely manner! First paragraph is a little back story. I just bought a van in Texas and road tripped with it back to Los Angeles. Along the way I had stopped in Nevada to visit family and took it into a shop to have new tires put on it see what was up mechanically with the van. Long story short, the shop in NV gave me an astronomical quote to fix it up and pretty much crushed my dreams of wanting to travel through Central America with it. After getting back home in Los Angeles I was tipped off by a friend about Marina Shell and after reading the reviews and seeing honesty mentioned by nearly everyone, I decided to take the van here for a second opinion. I told them about my previous quote and basically tee'd them up to take advantage of me. Well, they replaced everything that they recommended in a very timely manner and even advised against doing more saying that it wasn't necessary. I have never been to a mechanic before that wouldn't have taken advantage in this situation. All said and done I spent a little over $2k and that was about $6k less than quoted at the first place. A friend of mine always had his Honda Civic serviced here and since he was very particular about worked on his car I thought I'd give Marina Shell a try when I needed my Honda Accord serviced. That was several years ago and I've never had my car serviced anywhere else. John, the shop foreman is very good and knowledgeable and I've had lots of routine service done there which is air filters, sparkplugs and more. They have all the latest information on any routine service cars need. Since my Accord now has 130,000 miles on it the routine service that you don't normally have done on your car if you trade it every two years, such as transmission oil change needs to be kept up on and done. Marina Shell is the best at this sort of maintenance. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs car maintenance. read more

I get most of my car maintenance, servicing, and repairs here . The part, liquid, and kit pricing is fair. Labor is a little on the high end, maybe by 20% national average, 5-10% for LA based on specific labor. This is to be expected for Marina Del Rey so I wouldn't let this be a deciding factor if you go shopping online for alternate prices. Very much worth the price for the quality of folk working here. MSS did my 90k mile maintenance, compared to my 30 and 60k from two different shops this came out arguably the best. Well worth the extra labor for the quality results and the honesty. read more

Started using this Shell station for basic maintenance and repairs when I lived in the Marina.
