I was running errands in my neighborhood over the weekend. One of those errands was needing to get an oil change. I wanted to find something close by and found this place. I'm sure they take appointments. I didn't have one, but it was really easy for me to drop in and get my oil changed. Maybe I got lucky and they weren't busy, but these guys seem to be super friendly and honest. I came in for an oil change and that's all I got. No upsell no nothing else. Thank you fellow Yelpers for helping me find Swift Smog! The reviews don't lie - this place is affordable, friendly, and reliable, and I would totally return/recommend. It may not look like much on the outside but I drove away happy, knowing I didn't just get ripped off. I came here for an oil change + smog check and while it took a little longer than originally quoted ("35min" but took a bit over an hour - totally reasonable) there's a shopping center a very walkable 0.4 miles down the street and I was able to get a little grocery shopping done in the meantime. When I returned, my car was done. They also filled up my tires, topped off all my fluids, and checked to make sure everything looked alright under the hood. In the end, the smog was $65 and an oil change with regular oil was only $40!! I couldn't be be more satisfied and my car is already much happier. read more

I didn't have a good experience. My car is pre-1999 so they have to put it on the rollers to do the test. It was easily 20 minutes before they got the machine working. I witnessed a lot of fussing with their equipment, the tech playing with the air compressor to try to raise or lower the rollers, etc. During the test their equipment stopped responding and they had to reset the whole apparatus entirely. The tech stalled my car once (it's a manual transmission), they asked me to stand on this metal plate when doing a weight check because their computer was reading wrong (?), they had trouble holding the speed for the 15mph test and had to restart THAT portion of the test at least twice before getting it... *sigh* it was not good. In the end my car didn't pass. It's my belief their testing equipment is on its last legs or not well maintained. Frequently something 'wouldn't respond' during the hour long ordeal so the fact I failed a Communication With OBD2 Port Check didn't surprise me. Keep in mind my car passed emissions, passed the visual inspection and even passed the onboard pre-SMOG/EGR stuff that requires you to drive around a bunch. Clearly there's enough communication with the OBD2 port to do all that! lol ;) I left disappointed. I was offered the customary free re-test within a month, but my mind was made up and I wouldn't return. I went on Yelp the next morning and found a place with even better reviews that was open on July 4th!! I went to the new place, they took my car, they drove it onto the rollers, they directed me to a nice waiting room, and about 20 minutes later with no conversation or drama they gave me the paperwork for a successful, completed SMOG test. Came here for the first time. Great customer service. Hassan was very apologetic about the unusual wait time and super busy shop, which he said was because the two cars in front of me wanted an oil change and smog check. He came to update me on the wait times a second time in case I wanted to return the next day, but I chose to stay since I really wanted to get it out of the way. I sat in my car and then in the outdoor canopied tent while they checked my smog for a few minutes. Would definitely return again next time. Very thorough service. Took my Infiniti G35 here last weekend to get my smog check (test center only). I have a modified intake filter, which is Carb Legal, but my Carb sticker was on my old hood (switch from an accident). Not only did Hassan talk me through the process to obtain a new Carb sticker, but with information on the part number and where I purchased the equipment, he was able to look up and verify that my part was indeed street legal. Got my Carb sticker in the mail and the next day brought it back and was able to pass my smog test no problem. Great work and I will definitely be back! read more

Cheapest smog test station for sure. I called around to so many locations in Santa Monica that were $70-90 and found Swift Smog while i was in the area. The owner is also incredibly nice and upfront The only con was that they can only test one vehicle at a time and the little corner lot they are located at is very small. There isn't a lot of street parking available so if you have to wait, you might have to double park or circle back. Tip: Call ahead to schedule. read more
