I don't like to pay for replacement parts from the dealer (which appears to be the rule in this area of Maryland) but in this case it worked to my benefit. As for inspections, I have heard the same story about just about every repair shop. While I appreciate the level of scrutiny, it appears like a one time chance to obtain a lot of work. Coming from a neighboring state , I was naive as far as the costs and the 30 day requirement for findings to be resolved. A lesson learned the hard way. I have found the Walt Eger team to be responsive to my needs and to provide timely informative updates.

So they waste the tow truck money and time because they throw Snow and and it freeze into ice on me car and around it and I had to call another one and I gave them some time told them to call me when I they are done so I can get another tow truck! So I called back James was like we been clear the ice off your car and I told him why u didn't say another, THEN HE JUST START LAUGHING THEN THEY THOUGHT I WOULD NOT KNOW BUT IS A BIG DENT IN THE BACK OF MY CAR THAT THEY DAMAGE! I needed a new radio console installed along with routine oil change, differential fluid, tire…read morerotation, etc. at the dealership for our 2015 Subaru Outback. AutoNation Subaru promised 2 days but it turned out they hadn't ordered the radio and it would take 7-10 business days, so--for the first time ever--we took it to Kevin at API for the routine stuff and would take it back to AutoNation for the radio another time. We dropped it off June 23 and would pick it up June 29 (which we did.) Drove it home (~5 miles) and it sat until Tuesday at 4:30 a.m. when my wife went to work. The car started shimmying and a burning smell and grinding sound came out from under the hood. She pulled over as the car lost power and the car wouldn't stop rolling in Park; used emergency brake and towed it back to API that morning (June 30). Kevin diagnosed the outback needed a new transmission but denied any culpability, saying instead this is a dealership problem and try to con them into extending the warranty. Towed it to Catonsville Subaru and we have their video diagnostic and written report stating the differential assembly was empty of fluid and the transmission was filled with differential fluid. It cost almost $20K to repair the damage and Kevin and API (with his son and daughter) refuse to respond. I hate to spend $10K to recover $20K but they are leaving us no choice. I've mailed hardcopies, sent email requesting "read receipts (APISOUTH@YAHOO.com) but they immediately delete them without reading. API has their folksy "aw shucks, I'm just one o' ya'll" routine down pat but it's shadier than Trump bitcoin. I recommend avoiding this place like the plague.

While we appreciate being refunded, the location was not able to offer us another truck, and we had to scramble to find another option. When picking the truck up, we were told that there are "exorbitant" cleaning fees if we didn't return it in good condition, so I'm not sure how this happened in the first place if that is the case.

I read some of the reviews here and all I have to say is that cars are expensive. You get what you…read morepay for when you elect to do service with anyone. If you let them do their job and they give you a quote , you have e the choice to do it or don't. I've worked on diesel trucks for a majority of my life and newer gas vehicles are just not my thing. I took my 2012 Tahoe here for an accelerator position sensor problem. When reviewing it they told me the voltage correlation was off and that's what was causing the code, the suggested fix per their research and mechanic was to swap the pedal with a new sensor in. Did that and the code came back, but you know what I didn't do? Whine about it . I came back and talked with the service advisors. They rolled the previous diag cost in to another diag. Eventually after a lot of digging , and even breaking out an oscilloscope they found the problem was 2 pins in the connector to the computer not passing signal correctly. They re-pinned the bad pins and I haven't had a problem since. Since then they have done a full exhaust on this vehicle, and update to my corvette, a full exhaust, brakes, parking brake, boost tubes and intercooler, and headlight install on my f250, custom exhaust on my Cadillac. Not to mention countless odds and ends on these vehicles. If you think you know better than a person who does this work on what your car needs, do it yourself. You have the option to ignore any suggested maintenance they suggest. You also have an option to work with them and identify priority items. Here's a great example, the turbo in my f250 is going to eventually ceap the bed. When working on it they discovered oil in the charge pipe which is a tell tale sign that oil is getting passed through the turbo and. Collecting in the charge pipe. Diagnoses says replace the turbo. However I asked ... how much time do I have ? How bad is it? Knowing damn well the answer as I previously stated .... I've worked in diesels for years. They said depending on use it could be 6 months or two years. They also said that if it fails it will ruin the motor. They are correct on all of those statements. Turbos aren't cheap, the labor associated with a turbo change is t cheap because the process states to lift the cab off the frame ... so I developed a plan. I got the part number they suggested for. Remanufactured turbo, and a new o e m replacement. I started pricing it out and found what I wanted is an upgrade. They are set to do the upgrade in the near future. They didn't try and swindle me or upsell me on ball joints or something I didn't need. Now I have a level of trust in them to even do upgrades to my vehicles as requested. Again I can't say this enough... car maintenance is not cheap. If you get it cheap you will have more problems. If you ignore suggested maintenance and don't at least ask if something is critical to the safety and function of your vehicle ....you are going to have a bad time. You have options, we are in America . If you think you know better , can do better , or are being oversold .... Do the work yourself. This is skilled trade work not swiping groceries over a barcode scanner.
