For starters, the "Call Now" number on the Facebook website is not even his number! It's this random kid that picks up and says "dude you've got the wrong number." Unfortunately, someone doing side work in Orange County on BMWs by the name of John screwed up my car. I'm a marine and I'm desperate to get my car fixed, and I found Phil on Craigslist. I talked to Phil, who said he just fixed someone's car in Orange County that John had worked on and screwed up. Phil said he felt sorry and that he would do my best to come out the following day to do a diagnosis and hopefully fix my car. Unfortunately, I am out of state and my car is in possession of my friend, and they correlated a time to meet in Mission Viejo as of today. She took off work with her mother to meet him today in Mission Viejo and he said he'd be there between 12 and 2 pm. I called her at 230 to ask how things were going, and she said that they were sitting in the parking lot waiting for Phil to show up who was "running late." I checked with Phil about an hour later and asked where he was. He said he was in traffic in Palmdale, about 114 miles away from Mission Viejo and still in traffic. Ok? He said he'd be there within an hour or two at the latest. It's 5 o'clock, still no sign of Phil or any courtesy phone call to let us know where he is. I call him and he gives me an excuse saying they blocked off the roads and that there was no way to get there and he'd been driving since 12. He said that there was snow and rain out there. I immediately can call BS and know something is up. I look up Google Maps and Apple maps and it says that it's no more than a 2 - 2 1/2 hour drive WITH TRAFFIC and road obstructions. So he's not telling the truth. He tells my friend that he'll be there around 7, or 8 or 9 at the latest now. This of course makes my friend and her mother sketched out. They've been sitting in a parking lot for hours and blocked their day off to meet with him to get my car fixed. That's almost 7 hours in a parking lot they've waited for him to show up and him crying wolf about traffic. It didn't add up nor make sense. My friends mom said she would not let her daughter meet Phil at night, as it is sketchy to work on a car that late and she is very protective of her daughter and was wary about the Facebook website, no formal reviews or accredations plus his lies about being 7 hours late. On top of that, Phil claimed there was no "credit card" machine or way to process credit cards cause he was waiting for his bank to send him a new machine. I didn't know banks did that! With PayPal, Venmo and other 21st century innovations it's pretty easy to take a credit card. On top of all of this, I talked to Phil and was upset but still asked him to come. I told him that I knew something was up and just to be honest instead of lying. I'm paying him, my friend isn't, therefore the business is coming from me. And I'm a very nice guy, but now I've gotten screwed over by two different guys -- Phil and John. It's not fair to me. So I asked Phil to still come and he said he'd be there by 7, and I arranged for my stepdad to meet him there at 7 now with my friend. Then about 30 minutes ago he texts my friend these long paragraph essays saying "I don't need your business" and what not after we've waited all day for him to show up and he knows what he's done is rude and unacceptable. My friend had the day off and dinner plans at 8. She had been waiting for Phil to show up for over 8 hours. Phil said he was just trying to "help out a Marine" and those who "serve our country" yet he didn't. He made our lives hell today and now I'm not going to have a car for an even longer time. He cancelled on the appointment again after I had other people willing to drive to Mission Viejo to meet him while getting my car serviced so late at night and is dodging all phone calls and text messages. We didn't do anything wrong? He's upset because my girl friend won't meet him at 8 or 9 o'clock at night by herself to get my car fixed ? This is totally disrespectful, not just to a service member, but to anyone. These reviews on Facebook are clearly from friends and family of Phil's. The least he could have done was been polite and told the truth and responded to our calls instead of having so many of us take off work and wait 8 hours for him to show up. It's not fair and it's not right. You don't do that to people!
