Nostalgic diner feels, warm service, and excellent food! I usually come for breakfast (delicious and a great deal!) or a rootbeer freeze via drive thru but this time I visited for lunch. The staff were all very kind (and that has been my experience every time I've visited), food was done to perfection (I had a cheeseburger) and of course a rootbeer freeze which always hits the spot. This place really surprised me because I had no idea that's it's a full service sit down restaurant like a George Webb because I only went through the drive through so I thought it was like a Burger King fast food restaurant, nope not at all. The decor is Webb esk with a old school lunch counter and booths. The elusive breakfast menu that I can't find on line is now posted for all to see. I was promptly seated with fast service and given menu, finally I get to see the breakfast menu and the three egg farmer's omelette sounded so good with ham mushrooms, onions and American frys. OMG this combination was like someone tweaked a Philly cheesesteak minus the cheese and turned it into breakfast. The over abundance of canned mushrooms, translucent onion whole circles with ham with American frys was so tasty. Toast was basically generic white or wheat. The omelette was huge and fat to my surprise that took up the whole plate. Next time I would add some cheese to this unique omelette. read more

3-30-26 - 0815 I've been a regular customer here for years and years. I've never had a bad experience here until today. My problem is with the day manager/ supervisor lady. The waitress was really nice and took my take out order but she made a mistake on my order accidentally and asked me to wait for the manager (who was late by the way). The mistake caused me to lose points in a bonus program and I was asking questions on how I could get them back today so I could use remaining points...and use them today. I earned those points. This supervisor lady was very rude and wouldn't answer my questions on how I could get my points back up by ordering food so I wouldn't lose my remaining loyalty points before the bonus program expires in a few days. She was fixated that I only wanted free food. I earned those points and I only wanted to know what I needed to do to get them back or usable even if I had to buy something to do so. She became fixated on me only wanting free food and started talking very loudly to me so all could hear her try and accuse me of wanting free food when all I wanted to do was make a big enough purchase to get enough points that I could use. She then kicked me out. I make probably five times what she makes and I can afford to purchase food so I don't care about free food without a purchase. I just wanted to use the remaining points I earned from going there all the time without losing the points. This supervisor was very rude and needs more management and customer service training. She shouldn't be in a supervisor position anywhere with a bad attitude like that. She's very rude. I'll choose other restaurants before this one but if I find out she's gone from this restaurant I'll come back again...and often. Other than a rude day supervisor who likes to disrespect customers the general staff such as waitresses and cooks do an excellent job overall and you will get a nice meal. But just hope nothing goes wrong with your experience or you may be disrespected by the young day supervisor for talking about and trying to solve the problem. If this day supervisor really wants to see who wants free food she should work a PM shift with all the young teenage employees who treat themselves to lots of free ice cream near close time then don't bother to wash their hands while taking care of customers coming in for orders and drive through. I never mentioned that until now because really I didn't care. But I'm so disappointed that this young freckled thin day supervisor on 3-30-26 disrespected me the way she did. I look forward to coming back (and often) if I get word that she's gone..or she apologizes and makes things right. I'd change this review instantly if she just would make things right and help me to resolve this issue. read more

Always Great! I often go for breakfast with people I do my swim workout with. This morning I went with my fmaily- 4 Adults. It's alway good! Waitresses are polite. Food is cooked to order- like adding cheese to an omelet that doesn't have it. The food always comes out very quickly. And, it very reasosably priced! I love the simple atmosphere, and the orignal 50's and 60's songs played there. It's never loud, etc. read more

All the warm hearted nostalgia that might have overcome the mediocre food cannot be evoked because this place is so very unlike the drive-ins of my youth. Us Boomers grew up suffering long unpleasant road trips with angry parents who thought they were doing something they were supposed to be doing on vacation but really were driving towards divorce. But the food breaks were fun, and A&W was especially fun. I just didn't remember that the burgers were this unspecial. The young people working here (i-Gen) were great, I rolled up to the drive through mere seconds before closing (I did not notice until after picking up), but the cheerfully took my order and gave it to me hot with a pleasant demeanor devoid of guile. read more

I have been here a few times before and noticed that the staff, and the service were becoming problematic. When I went it was busy BUT the party I was with, which consisted of two adults, and a family of four with young kids waited a very long time to get served longer than it should have reasonably taken based on the amount of staff present based on that I didn't think I'd be back. HOWEVER a coworker suggested we go for the free root beer float day. Of course they were busy as expected the staff and service was STELLAR. The staff was young, cheerful, upbeat and vey welcoming. The young girl took our float order and so positive that it was a great change compared to the old staff. The floats were definitely up to expectations and delivered promptly. The staff were busy and by no means slacking as the place was clean and orderly. Tables were cleaned promptly when customers left and trash was not overflowing. The exterior of the restaurant was also clean and well maintained. Based on this most recent incident I can happily say I highly recommend this establishment WELL DONE A&W read more

Raised prices whatever, but first papa burger I got at the higher price gave me food poisoning. Puked for 36 hours even water was coming back out. 3rd day after I was able to start eating again. Will never eat there again. Make damn sure you tell under trained employees you want your burger well done. This restaurant is not the same as it used to be service is horrible. Ordered the chicken had an old oil taste. Saw the cooks on their phones not washing hands and touching the food. I would only recommend going there at night when the black lady manager is there. She is very polite and has a good head on her shoulder. The kids at night are super nice well-most of them. Another restaurant that started to nickel and dime customers. After coming here for decades we found out this location recently changed ownership, thus the surcharges began. Now we were charged $.30 extra per burger for raw onions. Pretty soon they'll start charging for ketchup and mustard. All good things come to an end , we won't be back. The good news for consumers, as surcharges increased like forced tipping, charges for using a credit card, etc., more consumers will stop dining out. We sure have. read more

Most recent experience definitely lacked effort and retraining needs to be done. Went in the afternoon through the drive-thru, there was only one car ahead and one car behind me, the lot was not packed so "being busy" can't be an excuse. Ordered a SINGLE bacon cheeseburger with ONLY ketchup and pickles. I made my meal a combo with a side of cheese curds and ranch and a root beer freeze for my drink. The total came to what seemed higher than normal for me. As I arrived to the window I asked the attendant if she had rang up a SINGLE bacon cheeseburger for me, which her reply was "for which one?" I replied "well my order!" She asked "you ordered a single?" So I said "yes and replied my whole order that was given at the speaker". She than had confirmed that I ordered a "single" but was very confused. I than asked if she got the side of ranch with my cheese curds. She asked did I want a side of cheese curds? I said well yeah I said I wanted it for my combo. She was still very confused although confirmed that she did put down cheese curds and my freeze. She was fumbling around during the whole time, which the bag of my food had arrived and she was hesitant. I asked if everything was correct and sorted out? She said "of course" and she closed the window. I had not received my drink yet so I waited. She than came back and I told her that I was waiting for my drink she said yeah someone else is too. So as I got home, lo and behold I was given a DOUBLE bacon cheeseburger WITH tomato. Of course this explains why the cost was higher than normal. I than looked at the receipt stapled on the tag. It has Bacon Cheeseburger no tomato. Than it has each the cheese curds and drink listed separately and not as the combo. So my complaints are how can you be so unsure of an order that you didn't even know what I ordered. Just look at the screen! Can it be so difficult, when it's NOT busy to take the time to make sure an order is as ordered instead of just saying "oh yeah"? read more

Ok, I know it's a fast food chain and yeah it's not the old school drive in style I grew up going to, but in 2019 they celebrate 100 years in business. That's pretty cool. There is something special about getting a root beer from A&W. It just tastes better. I'm also happy to say their food is really pretty good and for the price, you'd be hard pressed to find a better burger. Lots of stuff on the menu now that they didn't have when I was a kid. Are you searching for the best omelette made 99% perfect every time? This is the place to go I always get the ham and cheese omelet it so amazing you can thank me later. Always say with cheese if you want it because if you don't or even if you do sometimes they forget it especially on a bacon omelets that my wife likes to eat. Which you would think comes with cheese because it's an omelette almost like your ordering a quesadilla and it comes with no cheese I would be upset too. Bacon omelets there are okay but they don't chop the bacon up they just lay the strips in it. When my wife was pregnant she had no choice to get the ham like she normally would. 9/10 I would give it for that reason but this place still deserves 5 stars not many a&ws serve breakfast and a lot of people when I tell them are like what ?!?!? In terms of all other fast food, this place is pretty good. The burgers are great, I love the hot dogs with the cheese fries, root beer is also awesome. There is just one thing that sets it lower than most other A&W's in my opinion: the floats. This one place does not have a set float so sometimes it is to runny, other times it is too thick, there is no set thickness so it makes this one A&W suffer which is sad for how nice it is inside. This A&W on Hwy 100 in Hales Corners looks updated on the outside, but inside, it's like a George Webb's circa 1985 (I should know, I worked at one back then), and it really needs updating. Service was fast, and fairly friendly. The menu is standard A&W, fried food, burgers, chicken sandwiches. I love their onion rings, but the menu doesn't wow. The root beer is served in frosty mugs, but the rest is just lackluster diner food. There are way better A&Ws, like the ones with the car ports and the trays hanging off your window. But then again, a lame A&W is better than a great _ (Insert George Webb's or another greasy spoon name). read more

I love A&W because it reminds me of family trips when I was younger. Yummy food served fast, root beer floats too big to hold, friendly waitstaff. It's still the same in Hales Corners. The building could use a little work inside, but they are slowly making changes. Just a few years ago they installed new booths! There is also a nicely graded gravel side lot for additional parking. I have been here off and on for years but they always treat me like family. Everyone is so friendly and the food is ready in no time at all. I love to sit and observe the locals sometimes, they have some interesting stories to overhear. Plus I can catch up on all the HC gossip! Due to its location on HWY 100 it can be a trick to access because of the traffic. However it's worth the effort. And stop in for breakfast! A&W is a great spot to stop for a quick meal and a little dessert, especially if you love root beer floats! No matter what, we always have some of that delicious A&W root beer to accompany our meal! My son and I love to come here before Cub Scout meetings! He enjoys watching the tv screens with the changing pictures of specials and menu items. He learns something new about A&W every visit! I think it was back in summer on one of our visits I saw there was a gyro on the menu. I was super excited about that as I love gyros, and it ended up being a pretty good one! So good in fact that I have looked for it on the menu ever since, though it has not been on there since. (Just my luck, lol) We will definitely continue to stop here before Scout meetings or before/after school events as it is right down the street! read more

What did I honestly expect from A&W? Something different from the normal fast food grind. It was certainly different enough for me. That chili dog may become a guilty pleasure, but don't hate me for not liking their rootbeer. Sprecher is so much better and has ruined me on all other brands. Moving on. Ordered a double bacon, only got a single. Burger was also obviously cooked only on one side. Thin patties so it did really master, but how hard is it to flip a burger?
