Great restaurant, the chicken is good, the root beer is good, the cheese sticks are good, pretty much all of the food is great. I'd recommend the Root Beer, it is sold in cans and bottles, you can most likely find the root beer in your local Walmart or your nearest grocery store. read more

I've never been to an A & W but this was a great first time. Delicious food, especially the chicken tenders. And they even allowed us to have our dog in there since we broke down on the highway. Hit and miss anymore. The last 3-4 times I've been (frequent goer) they've been extremely rude and have messed up my order. I'm not sure who the high school chick is running the window, but she needs some serious customer service manners. This restaurant used to be so good. Great food and service and since COVID it has been miserable. High School boys with no masks or gloves are taking and serving all the orders. Came here on eclipse day in August 2018, so did half the state it seemed. But the staff took care of everyone with ease! They were awesome. Food was served fast and was great. They handled the big rush like a champ. Places like this are usually quick stop-overs and generally forgettable, but this staff really impressed me with their service and hospitality. read more

Love this vintage A&W that still has the old style roof and fireplace in the middle. Wish it had been turned on since it was a chilly day! This is the 100th anniversary so my husband wore a special A&W t-shirt and hat. The employees thought it was very cool and also sold us a different t-shirt and mug set. They still make their own root beer and it was great. The fish sandwiches were yummy. This was our 2nd visit to this place. They always have nice fall decorations outside with pumpkins, gourds and mums. read more

Wanted to use the bathroom and grab a bite to eat on our way back from picking up one of our kids from college. Older style A&W, fireplace inside restaurant. Bathrooms were older, but serviceable and clean enough. Ordered our food to go, my wife got a cheeseburger meal with fries and sweet tea, and I got a grilled chicken sandwich with cheese curds and root beer. Food came fairly fast, and we got back on the highway. Our order was correct, and that was the only good thing about it. Wife's hamburger had a really weird flavor to it, and was not edible. Her fries and the cheese curds were cooked in the same oil as their fish sandwich, and that was all you could taste. The grilled chicken sandwich was cooked, but was cold, like they started to warm it up, and then lost interest. Sweet tea was not sweet, and the root beer was not good either. Come on A&W, it's root beer, how you made your name! We wound up throwing the entire meal away at our next stop. Will avoid Boonville like the plague from now on! read more

Really enjoyed their 49 cent cones. Had a twist of root beer and vanilla which was refreshingly good. Cones were large and delicious, nice treat on any afternoon. It is a couple miles from I-70 but worth the time to meet friendly people and enjoy an ice cream cone done right. We'll do it again! read more

A&W in Boonville serves the best burgers, fries, and onion rings around. The icy cold mug of root beer is not to be missed. Even in January the tomato slice on the double cheeseburger is ripe and red. The staff is great and the atmosphere in the dining room is vintage A&W albeit updated and clean. The drive-thru service is quick if you're in a hurry. This is the best fast food to be found in Boonville. read more

Clean and quaint, with decor reminiscent of the classic 70's, right down to the vinyl-record covers along the ceiling. Food was quick and tasty, including the root beer ice cream. I'd never had that flavor, but at an A&W, it wasn't too surprising. As expected, the fries and traditional root beer float were delicious. We ate at this A&W on 16 April at about 6PM. Parking was easy and on our way in there were several families dining outside on the patio. It was a very nice spring evening. Upon entry the restaurant was very clean. Our order was taken as soon a we were ready. Root beer orders come with a frosted mug (not to keep). The root beer was frothy as I poured it but seemed a bit flat when drinking it. The food was ready very quickly and was very good. The staff was friendly, but not very engaging. We completely overwhelmed this little spot with basketball players and they kept their cool and got the orders out. The food was decent. I liked that the buns are grilled on the inside. The root beer was good as advertised. There's a fireplace in the middle of a big bar-style seating square with booths around it. A very warm, retro atmosphere that kids and adults enjoyed.
