    Chili Cheese Dog

Pure Americana. If you want the nostalgia of a greasy, cheesy, chili cheese dog in Columbia, this is the place. When Mugs Up opens for the season it's a sign of summer, pools, BBQs, family gatherings, humidity, and late nights where the sun doesn't set till after 8. If you find pleasure in these types of memories, this place will make one more for you. Enjoy!

    NO CHILI FRIES

Please dont order a chili cheese fry. Its in a hotdog container... 4x the fries in a regular. Gross meat. Much prefer a sloppy over a plain joe...

Got the zips! Boys loved them! Thank you for working well and wearing masks under these COVID conditions. Appreciate mugs up.

Food was messy but yum. We got zips and they were . Staff wore masks and remained as much distance as possible.

Came here as one of the last places I hadn't tried in Columbia right before moving. This place is awesome- retro feel of a drive up and a great place to come in the spring and summer. Prices are great. I tried the cheese zip, chili cheese fries and a cherry float. They were all awesome! They have a small menu but everything is made quickly and they have the flavors down to a tee. Awesome place to get lunch or a snack at off the business loop. Definitely will be back again!

Mug's Up is a strange little place, rather hidden. Very good, very greasy grub. Don't miss getting a root beer float.

The cheese zip was about the same beef patty size as a single at McDonald's but the bun fit perfectly and the condiments were in perfect per portion.

It brings a smile to everyone's faces upon utterance; a certain reverence fills the air at its mention. So it should come as a shock to you that I lived nearly 24 years without gracing the establishment. Who knows why I lived this unfortunate existence for so long... Perhaps I was otherwise occupied palling around with my cousins or going to boutiques with my Grandma. Whatever the case may be, the important thing is that on a recent trip to CoMo, the situation was rectified. The building permeates character. If the walls could talk, I think they'd have a lot of stories about rowdy pool games, college meet-cutes, and late nights of drunkenly devoured greasy grub. Booches serves up the perfect burger at the perfect price. It lived up to its name.

I'd suggest getting two since they're about a size between a slider and a regular sized burger. They grill them right up front. I usually always have to have lettuce and tomato on my burger...I don't think they have that, but the burger didn't need it. It came with alot of pickles, which I don't typically get, but it all hit perfect. It looked like a bunch of regulars, not crazy busy at this time, but I bet it can get crowded fast. It was old rustic bar and several pool tables. Reminded me of some great bars from the 80s. This should definitely be a stop for a quick snack and beverage before a night out on the town.

They brew their own beer and it was all super tasty. The bartender was also nice enough to give me a small sample of two of the beers so I can decide which I wanted to have with my meal. My friend and I shared a pizza, a platter of wings, and a burnt ends plate. First of all- I was shocked how good the pizza was. Given I'm originally from NJ, I'm a bit of a pizza snob. But it was actually quite tasty. The platter of wings was solid. Not the biggest wings in the world, but the plate came with a bunch and the sauce was really good. And the burnt ends were phenomenal. Super tender, lots of flavor. The place itself was very lively- lots of happy, talking people getting ready for the night. Certainly a place to come to feel "energy". I was certainly overly stuffed after this meal- would come back again!

The beers are top-notch -- from the easy-drinking Canned Good and Flor Blanca Mexican Lager to the rich Thresher Porter, they're clearly brewing with care and creativity. The food matches the quality of the beer. We've been here for brunch and highly recommend it -- everything from the eggs to the bread feels fresh and flavorful. I also love how many of their ingredients are sourced locally, which really adds to the quality and uniqueness of each dish. On this visit, we shared the fried cheese curds and the brisket grilled cheese! We also happened to stop by for a jazz night, which was such a fun surprise. The live music totally elevated the atmosphere and made the evening feel special. That said, there's still a bit more they could do with the space -- it would be great to see more regular live music or special events to bring even more life to the room. Prices are a bit higher than average for Columbia, but for the quality, atmosphere, and local charm, it's worth it. Great beer, great food, great people -- a solid 4 stars!

Things started out well, the BF had a tasty Manhattan and I had a mocktail that was subtle and delicious, and not overpriced as mocktails often are. But alas. The house salads that we ordered were overdressed in a vinaigrette so acidic we couldn't finish them. And there wasn't much to them. Other than greens and fried shallots and pickled red onions, there was a tiny dusting of some finely grated cheese. And who needs two kinds of onions and nothing else on the salad? Then we each had a bowl of the matzo ball soup, which was ridiculous. Three matzo balls sitting in a quarter-inch of broth that was so unbelievably salty that we couldn't eat that either. We ended up asking for hot water to dilute the broth to a level of saltiness that was edible. The chicken was okay and the matzo balls were okay. A little gummy. But the broth was just awful. It all made me wonder if the chef had lost their sense of taste due to Covid or something. Seriously. I've had that happen to me a couple of times and all I could taste was really basic stuff like sour and salt. And our waitress was totally uninterested in trying to make our experience better. She wasn't rude, she was just indifferent to the fact that we'd been served two courses that we absolutely couldn't eat. Didn't offer us anything to compensate or even express any sympathy about it. We got out of there as fast as we could and made ourselves feel better with an Andy's frozen custard.
