Last month, I stayed in Steinbach and travelled between that city and Winnipeg during my vacation. Taking the Trans-Canada Highway was the best route. Fermor Avenue in Winnipeg comprises this highway. Before leaving Winnipeg to head back to Steinbach, I felt the need to get a drink. Since McDonald's allows you to get a fountain drink (any size) for $1 through the McDonald's app all summer, I decided to place an order and head to this eatery that was conveniently on my way back to Steinbach. Two summers ago, I spent some time in Southdale. I never frequented this McDonald's. There was one closer to where I was staying. I parked in front of the restaurant and placed my drink order. I got two large Diet Coke beverages. Through the app, you can order up to five $1 drinks each day. I never hit the maximum. My maximum is two. I also got apple slices. I got my order code and headed to the drive-thru. The drive-thru has two lanes. They ultimately converge to one after you're done placing your order. I got a friendly female voice at the drive-thru. I let her know what my order code was. She found it and said that I could head to the window. I got my drinks and snack. I thanked her and headed back to the hotel. I sipped on my Diet Coke as I drove eastbound back to the hotel. It was cold, crisp, and delicious. I had the second one later on in my hotel room. I placed it in the mini fridge so it would continue to be cold. I had my apple slices. I like them as a snack. They are perfect for driving. They were naturally sweet and easy to eat. I dropped by another day to order almost the same thing. The service was friendly, fast, and consistent. My drinks and snacks were also consistent and yummy. I liked dropping by this eatery. Perhaps when I'm in the area and am not commuting between cities, I'll head inside and check it out while I enjoy a snack or a drink, or both. (270)

Last time I went in the line went from 3 people to 10, and the lone cashier moved verrrry slowly... If you come just for ice cream, forget it. Their ice cream machine has not worked or was being serviced the last 3 times I've been there...

There's plenty of mall parking in the area. The restaurant also has a drive thru if you just want to drive by. Plenty of comfortable booth and table seats inside and out. I grabbed a double steak burger, melt, fries and onion rings. Burger was juicy. Great flavor. Melt was delicious. A good alternative if you want to try something different. The fries were really good. Shoestring , crispy and fresh. Onion rings were good. I'll be ordering one of each everyone to balance out the meal. They're both good choices. Next time will check out the amazing frozen custard. I was just too full this time around. Both combos came out to about 35 bucks. Pricey yes. Food was great but it would be just a once in a while visit for me.

Freddy's is the newest joint that has joined the party here, and I finally tried here after the hype has died down and there's no lineup outside the restaurant. Freddy's is known for their steakburgers and their frozen custard. In my opinion, the frozen custard was better than their steakburgers. Their patties are paper thin to the point where you're eating a burger with a wide, thin patty in the middle. Some people might like that, I'm not crazy over it. Their custards, on the other hand, were quite good, particularly their Orange Freddy's Frost. I don't see myself coming here often. Perhaps if a friend wants to try this place I'll revisit here.

Ordered 3 dishes - Pork cutlet, small noodle with black bean sauce, and some chicken with sauce - cost about $40. Pork Cutler was amazing because of the size, but other dishes were ok, taste sweet and sour.

What particularly preturbs me is that there was no "Under New Management" sign or anything to let people know. We knew something was amiss when we walked in and found a whole bunch of pictures of kimchi-looking foods taped on the wall. Nevertheless, since we were seated and all, we decided to carry on with our dining experience. Big mistake. Most of the other diners -- Asians -- were ordering what looked to be noodles with various other things with them. It appears that they can cook this well, as the other diners were enjoying what they ordered. However, the burgers and fries we received were horrid, with the hamburgers being greasy, the fries kind of raw in the middle, and the gravy resembling wallpaper paste. Pass this place up and go to the Red Top instead. Your stomach will be glad.

3.5/5, +.5 for service…read more Went to Block and Blade for a friend's birthday party. We were part of a large group of about 20, and the server accommodated us very well. The restaurant is slightly upscale, with a wealth of food options at somewhat higher than average prices. I was torn between a few items, but I settled with a starter french onion soup and an entree of chicken tenders and fries. I've had lots of french onion soups in my life. This one was quite good; the gruyere cheese was plentiful and was gooey, which is how it should be. The chicken tenders were crispy with plenty of batter. The honey dill sauce is on the creamy side, which I didn't like as much but I can imagine others preferring the creaminess of the sauce. It won't be a place that'll be on my regular visit rotation due to location and price, but I'd definitely have this in my list of suggestions for a special occasion.

I had in the neighborhood. One time I sat at a table; one time I sat at the bar and a third time I saw it in a booth. On each occasion, I waited between 15 and 20 minutes for somebody to even come to the table. On two of the occasions, the food came before I had a set up at the table, and the server disappeared, leaving me with no cutlery and a meal rapidly getting colder. The first time this happened I contacted the restaurant management and said that rather than leave a bad review, I would like to speak to him about it. It obviously didn't help because the next three visits were just as disastrous.
