Perhaps a flat tire on the way to work is the signal to have an inspection, which is exactly what Justin had recommended for my car. I went with many of his recommendations in terms of what to fix, and the reports are just so thorough in what they find, that it is hard to delay anything to be taken care of. Justin's transparency throughout the process was definitely the highlight - his communication was stellar, even after my car was fixed, he called me to see if everything was all right after the fact. Although the turnaround time was extended, they offered a ride to the shop, as well as offered their rental car for the potential weekend I was going to be without my car, which I ended up not needing the entire weekend, as my car was only in the shop the next extra morning. I wanted to bring in my Chevy Volt for a software update and also received an inspection. Justin offered to pick up my car and bring it back when he heard it would be difficult for me to drop the car off and retrieve it. Throughout my conversation with Justin, I noticed how customer service oriented he was. During the inspection, Justin found that the brake fluid was really low and dirty. I had just had a different auto shop inspect my brakes, and they said they were fine. They must not have checked the brake fluid! Justin also found 2 nails in a tire, and cupping in the back tires. Last week, I went to a tire shop for the rotation and balancing of the tires. They did not notice the nails in the front tire, or the cupping in the back tires. I like to work on my truck as much as I can but when I decided that I was going to install front and rear ARB airlockers, on board air as well as Regear to 5.29s I knew it was a bigger job than I could do in a timely manner, enter A+. I found A+ Auto Repair while conducting an Apple Maps search of Redwood City and wanted to find something near my girlfriends work. I didn't read any reviews and wasn't recommended to this shop. I immediately got someone on the phone who was incredibly nice, service focused and just generally a delight to speak with. I got scheduled...then showed up at my time. My issue was: Brakes I had the pleasure of dealing with the Owner: Eric, directly. What a piece of work this guy was. Eric took the time to explain all the potential issues that could be effecting my braking system, hooked me up with a rental car (a Prius Nick-named: Chief) while my truck was being worked on. *Don't worry, I refrained from using Chief as a soup kitchen A+ has a state of the art system where they take pictures of what they see, send it to you in a super organized way unlike any other Auto Repair shop I've ever seen. The invoicing was intuitive and seem less. The prices were fair market value. Eric even called me multiple times to give me his advice on my brakes and answered all the inexperienced questions I had. (I run my Tacoma pretty hard and offroad the heck out of it so the brakes turned into a larger issue than expected.) ...All that said I would highly recommend This shop to anyone who wants thorough quality service and a transparent process. 5 stars. I called at 4pm on a Friday after realizing I had a headlight burnt out. Despite the late hour they checked their stock to confirm they had the bulb in stock I'd need and encouraged me to come right over! I had a new headlight in minutes and it was incredibly out inexpensive. I was done and on my way so fast! I was grateful for the ample parking available and this location so close to my home. I have another appointment set up for this Monday for my routine service, and I appreciate that they offer a free shuttle service. A+ Japanese Auto Repair has been my go-to car repair and auto maintenance company for over 20 years (when Eric and Adam's parents owned it). When their sons took over the business, they took it to another level and made it their own. Throughout the years, and the several vehicles I have owned (some of them "aging beauties" as I like to call them), I was consistently treated to a high level of service. There was a time when my Honda Prelude at 200K miles, actually conked out in SF after a routine service, and I was shocked. Eric was not only apologetic but very concerned, and asked if he could have it over the weekend. He drove it to witness for himself how the car was behaving, and as a result, correctly diagnosed the problem. The next week, my "aging beauty" was back to running like a gem and it was in such superb condition that I was able to gift it later to a friend who had no vehicle. (I bought my brother's aging Prius then and A+ cared for that vehicle, too. It lasted many years and drove wonderfully--until high speeds on slick lanes in the early morning enroute to the Golden Gate Bridge resulted in a different outcome.) Now I entrust my current two automobiles to A+. Over these many years, I have taken notice that many others have discovered the quality and high standards that Eric and the A+ staff adhere to in keeping their clients' autos running safely. I began to feel a bit anxious about how they could continue to accommodate us all at their home base on Industrial Road in San Carlos. I need not have been concerned. I went in to get my TPMS sensors replaced and possibly brakes replaced. Extremely friendly and energetic crowd here. It was over the holidays so I knew not to expect back quickly. Something happened internally and they forgot to tell me my car was ready sooner than it was (no fault there) and they refunded me $100 brake inspection charge just because of the problem. I know A+ gets good ratings, long story but my wife actually recommended A+ to me based on the online reviews (and because of the particular auto we're trying to care and feed). Service seems very good. However I struggle with the pricing. My oil change shows on the invoice as $222.18? Seems really high. Maybe it's super-synthetic and a high-quality oil change, but would appreciate being presented with cheaper options. I got a major service and while it's true there were some unexpected surprises, the final total bill was 85% higher than my highest expectation. Actually it was 168% higher until I knocked a bunch of stuff off that didn't look important to me. Felt like serious upsell. So a great option if you don't work hard for your money, but that doesn't describe me. read more

These folks were absolutely on-top-of-their-game when I needed an emergency repair/replacement of a flat tire I had at the most inopportune time. We couldn't find a nail in the tire put it wasn't holding air so I said replace the tire and let's move on. 20 minutes later I was back on the road. (no exaggeration) I get most of my fuel at the Valero Station where these folks are located, so they were the first (and will be the only) place to go for new tires when the time comes.. Absolutely The best service you can hope for. And I'm a hard-grader! Friendly, competent, they know the importance of good customer service because it shows immediately.
