2010 Lexus IS250 Valve Cleaning I took our Lexus IS250 with 170K miles to San Carlos Auto Solutions to have the carbon removed from the valves using media blasting (walnut shells). If you have a car that has direct fuel injection without port fuel injection, then you will be getting carbon build-up on your valves. San Carlos Auto Solutions utilizes Walnut Shell blasting to clear the valves of built up carbon. Never coming here again I'd been here for work on various vehicles. But no more. I had an appointment last week for tomorrow and even received a text confirmation earlier today, see below; "Reminder, you have an appointment with San Carlos Auto Solutions at on Tuesday Jun 3. Reply YES to confirm or call (650) 595-2860 to reschedule. Reply STOP to opt out" I called this morning and they said they were too busy to see the car today. I couldn't wait on the transmission problem so went elsewhere. I tried to cancel: sent them a text, their VM box was full and not taking messages. Called 5 times, got hung up on once, on hold 15" so I drove over to cancel it in person but the guy w the sunglasses at the office said he doesn't even see an appointment for me! Wtf. The standard of professionalism and quality has always been off the charts here (which is why I've been a customer for years!) but my last experience was truly exceptional. My tire pressure warning light started alerting no matter how many times I checked them. I called the shop to schedule a service appointment and they said come now if I could. 10 minutes later, AJ (one of the best mechanics and service providers there!) did some readings, checked the pressure, and said it was likely a malfunctioning sensor. AMAZING SHOP! I truly cannot recommend this auto shop enough. My car broke down in the Bay Area on Super Bowl Sunday 2023. My car needed to be towed somewhere to get fixed, so I reached out to the shop my boyfriend's family uses: San Carlos Auto Solutions. Kenneth ended up answering the phone on Sunday (which I was not expecting but was so thankful for) and told me that he would ensure my car gets addressed the next day. I moved to San Carlos a couple of years ago and I needed a new mechanic to help out with any car troubles. I was so delighted to find Kenneth and his team at San Carlos Auto Solutions. Kenneth has always been extremely knowledgable, helpful, professional, and kind! One instance in particular that was especially wonderful was when my husband needed a repair for his headlight (not the wonderful part... getting there). We brought his car over and Kenneth found the headlight on Ebay (it's a pretty old car and the headlights were no longer manufactured). He sent the link to me and I ordered the product. My husband made it very clear that he did not care about aesthetic - he just wanted a functioning headlight. We wanted to keep costs down as much as possible as the car isn't worth a ton to begin with. Kenneth went completely beyond our expectations. I recently moved to the area and was looking for a new mechanic and when I read the reviews about this place, I decided to go and try them out and I was glad I did! I messaged them on Yelp the day I wanted to take in my car and even though they were busy, Kenneth was flexible and set expectations of how long my service was going to take and how much it was going to be. He then followed up with a VERY DETAILED online list of items from the check up that needed to be fixed or were in good condition. They even sent photos to go with the report. He also took the time to give me a call and explain what was critical and what could wait. I couldn't get my car before closing time and they were again flexible to let me keep my car there over the weekend since they were closed on Sunday. I also asked him for a quote on the potential fixes I needed to do on my car and again, it was a VERY detailed quote with breakdowns of labor, car parts needed, etc. Overall, my experience was great with these guys and I'm sure I'll be back 3Thank you for the hard work and for being so kind! Kenneth was nice but definitely tried to nickle and dime me to the max. Took my car in that had previously been diagnosed and we had aligned for the work to be done for $1100. By the end of the day the new bill was close to $3,000. I pushed back and he couldn't even show me the damage that supposedly needed repair. I then said I don't want the extra work done and he said he already ordered the parts and I'll get charged a restocking fee. The next morning I went down to the dealership he supposedly bought the parts from. I asked and they said he had only inquired about them but nothing was bought. We remembered these guys always seem to be working so we decided to go here with our check-engine-light mystery... We were greeted with orchids and jazz music in the small smartly-appointed office. Hourly labor rates (by car manufacturer) are conveniently posted on the wall. We were quickly approached and told to pull the car into the shop, which was unbelievably clean. They stopped in the middle of eating their lunch to hook the car up to a machine that quickly solved our mystery. They recommended an imported fuel additive (not regularly available in auto shops), and after paying a total of $10 for everything, they sent us on our merry way. Long overdue review! I met Kenneth through one of my buddies when I had issues with my car. He was quick to fit me into his busy schedule within the same week with a very short notice. I had a very peculiar issue with my car where the problem kept reoccurring just a few days after an attempted fix. This caused me to go back and forth quite a bit. However to make a long story short, Kenneth was able resolve this issue (it stumped the both of us since there was little to no information on this specific issue among other mechanics/ online forums) and was also kind enough to offer a refund for the wasted time. That really shows how much Kenneth values customer relationship and honesty over making a few extra bucks, which is something I can really appreciate. After having the opportunity to watch Andrew put the parts on my car with meticulous attention to detail, I am absolutely sure to come back. The facts are once I left your shop and went to the mechanic next door He diagnosed the problem right away. Recommend a shop that could fix the problem. Took van to shop he recommended they took care of the problem for 820.00. funny thing is after shop replaced the parts that needed to be replaced the van drives great! The owner Kenneth came out to greet me, very friendly guy, it looked like he should be in high tech rather than an auto shop. But over all my experience was like a breath of fresh air, comparing a lot of auto shops I have been to before. The place was very clean, staff all very professional, and very conveniently located on El Camino. They did find a couple of minor things with the car that they were inspecting, and the customer was so pleased with how they treated him, he had them do the work on the car, and I am sure they were very fair on the price. It's been a while since I review this place, now I have some free time, I could say nothing but great things. I had a big screw on my STI's rear tire, and somehow it's on the side where fix/plug will not work, need to replace it. I asked Kenneth to order me a new one (Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S), it's as most of you know, it's been hard to get it, due to the current pandemic, so they plugged the hole temporarily so I could just drive it home and park the car while waiting for the new tire to come in (luckily, just a block away). We've been waiting for the tire for almost a month, and still no time frame when the tire will be available, so last week I decided to get a cheapest summer tire that we could get as temporary ( I don't want to drive on a spare tire), Kenneth got it the next day, called me to come in, they mounted, balanced the tire and installed it on my car. That was a fast servicer. Today, he informed me that the Michelin tire came in and asked me when I could come to have it installed. I scheduled it for next week, since I won't be available till then.
