He measured my body, feet, to my knees, knees to my hips, and hips to neck, and then had built a custom couch. I first had to find, what once was Eastern Furniture, no longer in the Bay Area, and found they had relocated to Agoura Hills, Ca., asked if they could locate the specs sheet from the furniture that was built in the past, which they did, and proceeded to have a Custom Couch and Recliner, built by Hancock and Moore, with a Protected leather, I have 3 big dogs, in a Tobacco color. This took several months, which I knew was the case. I also purchased 2 other Hancock and Moore, Custom Adirondack Leather Chairs for my sitting area in my dining room. I worked with Martine, a designer who works for the company, she was AWESOME. She asked me to send her pictures of the areas and measurements of what I wanted to change in my living room and dining room. Martine photo-shopped the furniture into those rooms. Great job, giving me a view to a room, with the furniture. We took a few months, deciding which leather to use in the living room. After that, it was just waiting for the custom furniture to be built by Hancock and Moore. The delivery team was awesome, moving our couch and side chairs to make way for the new furniture. We had a spot for our couch that needed to be measured perfectly and also had very specific colors, pillows and comfort level that we wanted. Also, rarely do my husband and I agree, but John managed to find the perfect couch for both of us. When it arrived, it was indeed perfect and we love it so much. We drove to the RH Thousand Oaks store hoping to see a couple of pieces that looked like they would be a good fit from the photos posted online. On walking in we were greeted by Anna, a design consultant. She was extremely helpful in showing us the pieces that we had identified online. However, after we showed her a photograph of the room we will put it in, she came up with a couple of suggestions that were even better than the pieces we had come in to see. Yes, the furniture at restoration Hardware is on the pricey side. But the design and the quality of the pieces appear to be worth it.
