My husband and I were no doubt guided by God to Mary Meehan who helped us secure placement for my mother with dementia after she had suffered a serious fall at a board and care home and 10 hours after being placed at another care home, a second fall. She was hospitalized for 9 days for a total of 17 days in bed. We were unsure if she'd be able to walk again and had been turned down by 3 other care homes. Exasperated, tired, frustrated and losing hope, I made a call to Apria where a very caring woman named Felicia could feel everything I was going through by my voice. She said she knew someone who may be able to help and she passed my number to Mary. Mary left THE most caring, concerned and sincere voice message I think I've ever received. When we finally talked, she put me and my husband at ease SO quick. She really understood what we were going through and pulled us out of the quagmire we were in. Our mother was being discharged from a local rehabilitation center after suffering a pelvic fracture. Unfortunately, our mother was no longer capable of residing at home with her increased medical needs and progressing dementia. As the discharge date for our mother was quickly approaching without an viable option available, I was fortunately given Mary's contact information. Mary truly "saved the day" as she was able to arrange for me to visit several reputable board and care homes the very next morning. I was able to find a very nice board and care home with caregivers that truly cared about their clients, my mother and her specific needs. After we placed our mother in a very nice board and care home, Mary continued to follow up with me and visited the board and care home on several occasions to "check on our mother". Mary was an invaluable fountain of knowledge, expertise and resources for our family as we navigated through this uncharted territory. There were so many areas of concern to discover when our mother was no longer able to reside at home and Mary knew the answers to all of our questions. As this was the first time we had to encounter the need for Senior Care we found it to be quite difficult to manage and navigate. There are so many "if this occurs, then this will happen" scenarios and on numerous occasions Mary prepared us for those scenarios and provided us with the answers before the situation occurred. Five stars are not nearly enough for Mary. She went so far above and beyond what we could have expected and showed such compassion and love for our mom and our family. She was such a blessing to us. We started with Mary when our mom was still fairly mobile and mentally sharp. She showed us assisted living facilities and really understood mom's personality and preferences perfectly. We got on a waiting list for the facility mom liked best. Then mom's health declined precipitously, both her mobility and her mental state.
