This shop is family-owned and operated, established 40 years ago. Its owners were award-winning dog show handlers. The love they show my furry friend is proven by my dog's shiny coat and wagging tail when the grooming is complete. This isn't a shop that overschedules. They leave time in their schedule to keep the service going to alleviate a stressed-out kenneled dog waiting for service. My dog is intrigued by the owners' birds. I would bring my Sheltie here to be groomed. They always made time in their schedule to groom him exactly as asked. No perfume-y shampoo, close sanitary, trimmed ears and paws. I used to purchase food here in bulk but had since changed what I fed. They have reduced the products a bit and seem to have put their focus on grooming. Interesting to see the condition how some of these pets are brought in for grooming. I've seen several dogs and cats brought in with matted coats and nails so long I couldn't believe the animal could walk on its feet. Unfortunately the only fix in some situations is shaving the coat off. These ladies do a great job cleaning up these animals, making them more presentable and much happier too. read more

They have my location wrong I am in Phoenix. I had a bad experience with my regular groomer and needed to find another real quickly. The ladies in this shop are very nice, very good with the dogs and did a real good job with my girls. The reason they have four stars and not five is because I was assured that they could get them in anytime, and the first time I called to take them back.(of course I waited until the last minute because I was assured that they could get in anytime) they put me off for two days. They are good groomers and reasonably priced, just remember you can't always get in anytime you call. read more

I have been going to this groomer for years and today is the first day that I paid the most,$70. My one dog looks like she didn't even get groomed or bathed and my second dog a 3 pound Maltese came home with her tongue tip cut off! I immediately took both of my dogs back very upset, they denied everything and refused to refund any money. The young girl who's trimmed her said she was bleeding from her brushing her! The owner did offer them to be bathed for free next time but there will not be a next time for my dogs! read more

Brought a friends dog, dog was not happy, would not sit at all, groomers were rude, not only that, there was piss,poop outside, lots of cats being fed outside, so there is also cat piss & poop messing up the concrete, & since they feed the cats & everything, you will see Rats hanging around. Owners do not care, but, other tenants are also upset. Place is filthy, & charge too much. read more

I really wanted to like the services at this place because it was recommended by a friend and I wanted to support a Sunnyslope establishment. However, after my dog came home limping due to "knicking" her paw pads, and seeing that her nails were not trimmed (nails were curled), I am done giving my hard-earned money to this grooming place. I had no idea that her nails were not getting trimmed until I heard my dog yelping with pain. All I saw was her left leg curled against the side of her body. Find out, she was scratching her body and her long hair got tangled on her nails where it was curled. She ended up pulling out a chunk of her body hair! I will spare you the rest of the story. I was so distraught that I could not even call them on this because they seem to have an excuse for everything. This is not the first time, they have "forgotten" to do something while conducting a full groom. Needless to say, please take your dogs to another groomer so your dogs do not have to experience this hardship :( read more

I've taken my cat here twice. Different experience each time. The 1st time was great. My cat came back nice & shaved, smelled great, but his nails weren't trimmed. It only cost $35 dollars so I was just like eh, I'll cut them myself. The 2nd time, I picked him up & it cost $48. I asked them why is it more this time & the older lady & older man went on about how the price has been that much for years. I ignored them, paid, & left. When I got home, I noticed all of the loose hairs flying off my cat so I smelled him & he didn't even smell fresh or clean. I honestly don't think they washed him this time. & once again, his nails weren't cut. I called a few days later & pretended to be someone inquiring about theirs services. The lady told me a $48 service includes shaving, a bath, & nail trimming. - I was so upset I told her who I was and the type of service I received last time, & her solution was to bring him back in so they can trim his nails. She offered it to be free since I'm upset.. All in all people.. $50 is still not a lot of money but I'd rather spend my money elsewhere. It costs almost the same at PetCo. read more

Don't let the name of this place fool you. They may be a cheaper grooming but they're certainly not better. We've taken our cat here a few times because of their reasonable pricing but I'd honestly rather pay more for better results. The last time we took her to this place, they cut her whiskers. Pretty sure that's not how this is supposed to work but we made the mistake of giving it one more shot. We received a call at 4:30 p.m. today after having dropped her off at 11:30 to be told that "not even four people could hold her down" long enough to get her properly groomed. That's odd; not only is our cat super mellow but she doesn't have claws in her front paws (not our doing. We adopted her like that). The only good thing about this visit is we weren't charged for the hack job they did. Please keep this in mind before you go here. read more

I spoke with the owner prior to bringing my dog in. I asked her what it would cost for a 30 pound dog mixed breed dog for a groom. She said $35, which I thought was reasonable. I brought him in myself and when my husband went to pick our dog up she charged him $50. He paid and tipped her. I called her on it and she said the next time we came in we'd have a credit but I never went back. The cut was good but I was tee'd off about her overcharging or underbidding a groom. After Dog Town on 24th Street changed owners and things took a turn for the worse, I looked all over for a groomer and finally a neighbor recommended Better Grooming. The folks here are very positive and professional and they actually listen to how I want my 25lb doggie to be trimmed. They are nowhere near my neighborhood, but worth the drive. read more

This is a small, mom & pop pet shop that's been around forever. The grooming isn't fancy, but it's good and reasonably priced. The grooming section is open for viewing, and there's a nice relaxed vibe. My dogs like coming here, which tells you something too. If you're an uptight yuppie this probably isn't the place for you, but if you need basic grooming and friendly people, give this place a try. They're open on Saturdays & occasionally close to attend dog shows. read more

I am very happy with their service, I have a Mini Aussie who fights me when bathing but they had no troubles with her. They gave me a few pointers and they worked. OK so I'm seeking a new groomer and I enter this establishment. What do I notice? Hair from previous dogs still lying on the floor, a dog shaking like a leaf up on the stand and crying, and a very dirty atmosphere! As I was waiting in line to speak to the so called groomer I witness a dog being grabbed and shook by their chin by this so called groomer! I asked this abuser if this was her personal dog and she informs me no! There's no way in hell I would take my enemies dog to this place! Beware! I have to say I was rather suprised by the two bad reviews of this business. I have been taking my dogs to this groomer for 10 years and have had very few complaints and when upon a couple of occasions I did not like something, all I had to do was speak up and the issue was remedied immediately. The price a of a full grooming at this establishment can not be beat. Trust me I have done my research as there are numerous groomers closer to my present home and none of them come close to being competitive with A-Better Grooming. This is a nice, family place. It smells, well, like dogs and grooming supplies. The first impression is a little off-putting but I got my Golden in same-day and they treated her well. I will say I'm not picky and was not asking for show quality, nor would I know it if I saw it. I just wanted her cleaned up by people who were nice to her and I got just that, at about half of what I paid at PetsMart. No fuss, no frills, no complaints. read more

I have been going to A Better Grooming for years and have always had a good experience. The dog I had at first was considered a "Caution" at the vet and would bite when she got excited or scared. They always made her look beautiful and she loved going there. The dog I have now is very tiny, 5.4 pounds, and he has been to A Better Grooming about 8 times and they have always done a great job on him. The people there are great. The price is very reasonable--much less than I had been paying at the groomer I went to before. I can heartily recommend A Better Grooming to anyone who wants a good experience and a great job of grooming. read more
