Hilary I'm truly grateful for all that you do for the animals. You're the first person I ask when I know someone is looking to add to their family. I love your soft spot for the seniors and disable dogs. I appreciate your love for the bully breed and your help to stop breed discrimination. Thank you and know that your hard work doesn't go unnoticed.

This rescue is one of the most organized and professional that I have worked with. Which have been many. Hilary works so hard to get these dogs out of shelters that have limited time and resources. She has literally performed miracles many many times. If you are considering helping a dog either by adopting, fostering, transporting, donating or just networking please ask how you can help A Canine Gem rescue!

Severely emaciated at time of adoption.

SERIOUSLY PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT THIS RESCUE. Our story: we adopted a dog from this rescue and he was horribly malnourished. He was not up-to-date on his shots and we were told that he was cat friendly. Three weeks later, he killed our cat..... he was such a good boy but with small children, we knew that we could not keep him. I couldnt bare to bring him back to the rescue where he was so clearly starved and neglected so I vetted and found him a wonderful home. When the owner found out, she called screaming her head off, threatening to call her lawyers and sue us. She said "well, you don't have a cat anymore so what's the problem?" Not only did she harass us, but also his new family which was mortifying. What did she want? To re-adopt out the dog to receive another $450 adoption fee. It was awful and heartbreaking and makes me so sick to my stomach. We are good people, love our pets And do not deserve to be threatened.

We can't say enough good things about Affectionately Cats, and especially Dr. Berger. Our beloved…read morecat, Montego, had many medical challenges over the years, but thanks to the incredible care he received here, we were able to enjoy so much more time with him than we ever thought possible. The entire team was always patient, kind, and thorough--treating him not just as a patient, but as a beloved member of our family. They helped us navigate every stage of his care with compassion and honesty. Even during the hardest times, we knew he was in the very best hands. We're forever grateful for the dedication and love they showed to Montego and to us. If you're looking for a veterinary team that truly cares, this is the place.

Some vets treat FIV like a death sentence and won't give these cats the time of day, but everyone at AC treats our little ones like beloved royalty. They take their time and answer all of our questions, and did a TON of research to share with us the best diet, supplements, and lifestyle changes to keep our cats healthy. We are not rich! Not by a long shot. We have small income, live in a small apartment, do not have money to toss away on unnecessary expenses. We've never felt that the vets at AC order gratuitous labs or x-rays or anything, and they always bring up the matter or cost very non-judgmentally in a way that would make us feel comfortable declining if we decided to do so. I've never felt pressured to do something I couldn't afford. We have never been pressured in the slightest to buy food or supplements them, they've always been completely fine with us buying from amazon or wherever I can get the best deal. Our cats are our family, truly. They have had rough lives before we adopted them and it's our honor, duty, and absolute pleasure to make sure they are happy and healthy for the rest of their lives. I would NEVER bring them to a vet where I felt that the cats or we as owners were being disrespected or where I felt they were getting sub-optimal care. Affectionately Cats has not only met but exceeded my expectations for two decades and I can't imagine ever going anywhere else.
