Ive unfortunately had to change my rating of a Cats Place after being a loyal customer for 7+ years. I've seen a shift in the way the place is staffed - the new staff seemed to care less and less. I've ignored signs (being that I myself work at an animal hospital - the burnout is real) but the fact that clients pay you to take care of their fur babies is a service you commit to provide. My boarding experience earlier this year- I noted that medication for my sick asthmatic cat was not given by the staff due to the fact that he "looked stressed". It would have been okay since they take your phone number in case of an emergency and promise to call if anything comes up. Instead I took him home, coughing and wheezing after 4-5 days away to look at the inhaler count to see it hadn't moved. I wasn't notified at pickup and had to call them to find out why. The funny thing is all the times we have used them to board, he could come back sick and we always used to think it was a change of environment. When I complained Jessica (management) was really great and compassionate and apologized essentially for the mishap and informed me that they will have protocols in place to tell owners when things like this happen. That's great, right? Except that it shouldn't take a mistake to have that plan in place. That should be the FIRST thing you do. I ended up having him admitted in another facility for 3+ days in Emergency until he was back to normal. All in all, it's a clean facility with only cats which is a major plus. However, I don't think we will be returning anymore. For those of you who board your pets, make sure that meds are being done when they are supposed to be done whether it be marking the bottle or noting the counts. read more

The rudest most despicable people I could ever imagine. After years as a customer and thousands of dollars spent on our cats care they left us high and dry with no treatment plan and no medications for our extremely anemic cat in her most critical moments. To add insult to injury, they threatened to call the police on my fiancé after she called 4 times begging for the vet to call us back or put in a prescription before closing time. I would not recommend my worst enemies bring their cats here. All they care about is taking your money, of which they managed to extract thousands from us, but when it comes to the actual care of your animals they could not care less. After being told we were no longer "a fit" at this vet, we made the decision to bring our cat to the local emergency vet for a second opinion. Lo and behold, she was diagnosed with feline leukemia, which she was also likely suffering from the last THREE TIMES we brought her to A Cat's Place since last April for the same symptoms, where the vet insisted on several occasions that our cats diarrhea and low grade fever were due to stress. Unbelievable. Who licensed these people to practice medicine on animals? read more

I have been going to a cats place for 25 yrs or more I have senior cats now with a ton of issues dr Caldwell and dr shores are good at diagnosing without thousands of dollars of tests sometimes I don't have the finances but they squeeze me in and work with me Other practices won't squeeze u in and spend 5 min with u a leave the room at best with no diagnostics or wrong ones. Do not take your cat there or leave your cat there for grooming. The staff is awful very rude, they lock the door to your face before they bring your cat to you. There is nobody to complain for anything. There was a nice veterinarian and she is not working anymore and other lady treated my cat so badly during examination. She did not even examined her but hurt her so bad. And staff front desk was nice few years ago now the lady calls Kim is so rude and terrible at her job. I been taking my cat there every three months but not anymore. My recent experience was not just bad but very ugly of these front desk ladies. Their phone is never reachable after you leave your cat. They don't call to inform you for anything. Just stay away from this place if they treat human that way how would they treat your pet after you leave them. read more

Love, love, love this place. They have been taking care of my baby since he was a kitten. He is VERY shy and they always are gentle with him and he stays calm. The staff is beyond friendly and goes out of their way to make you and your cat feel comfortable and that you are always informed. My baby recently had a terrible experience getting groomed elsewhere (NEVER again.) Darius is amazing with grooming, my little man always loves his lion cut from him (seriously, he pimps himself out to my friends when they come over)...as are the ladies that work here. My cat was terrified to be out again and getting groomed after the other experience...they worked with him and tried to keep him calm. They also gave me some great recommendations on how to keep him calm when taking him out and about, to reduce the stress caused by the "other place." The entire facility (including the back, which I was given a full tour of when I first came here) is clean, bright, and modern. It's a very peaceful, stress free environment for cats. I won't take him anywhere else, ever. read more

I am so happy that I brought my 2 kitties, both 5 years old, to A Cat's Place. It has been the best Vet experience that I have had! The doctors at A Cat's Place are thorough, and my primary Vet, she is very gentle when examining my cats. Great communication, very thorough care, and overall a great experience. I was greeted at the door by a woman who held the door open 12 inches in an effort to keep me from entering. I was asked to state why I was there and, in my not so humble opinion, I was met with what I felt was a rather snobby. rude response. This may be just for cats but the worst place ever! Misdiagnosis, adopted a sick cat that they eventually said had a uti (no) finally after almost a year they took blood and the cat had cancer and they put the cat down. They have no clue what they are doing nor can they take the info given and properly diagnose an illness. Just unbelievable!! I have since found a trustworthy vet that puts the animals FIRST. read more

I really like A Cat's Place. Our cat Oz can be kind of a disaster at the Vet sometimes, and no matter how difficult he is, they're always super nice and extremely patient. So much so that I think Oz has finally gotten used to the place and the last time he went he was way calmer about it. I never owned a cat before and the Doctors here are always very informative and answer my questions thoroughly. They never rush through appointments either. I moved to Stratford recently, but I think I'm going to keep returning to Norwalk for A Cat's Place. read more

I absolutely love this place and the people that work here. We recently adopted two kitties from a foster program, and so we needed to take them to their first vet appointment. We found out about A Cat's Place via my boyfriend's friend, who works there at the front desk (Amanda is so sweet and amazing!). We were immediately greeted upon arrival, and we only had to wait about 5 minutes before we were seen by the vet, Kara. We were actually late a few minutes so the 5 minute wait was realistically us filling out the new patient paperwork! Kara and her assistant (I'm so sorry I forgot your name) were both awesome, patient, and kind. I could tell immediately from how they handled our kitties that they were skilled and had years of experience with cats. Although our cats were finicky and trying to get away, Kara always spoke calmly and professionally. She made a few geeky jokes which I appreciate. :) After this 20-30 minute appointment/check-up, Kara brought some recommendations to our attention and I really trust her judgment. She seems to know her stuff, and she's been doing this for over 15 years. She also clipped their nails in no time at all (thank goodness), and the check-up and medication fees were reasonable. Nice new full service modern facility. Love the professional looking cat photos in the place. Staff is friendly and helpful. No dogs around to help keep the cats less stressed. Dr. Caldwall is treating our Scotishfold for Osteochondrodysplasia. This is rare form of arthritis cause by breeding Scotish folds in which there is no cure. But Dr. Caldwell has done research and taking a very active role in managing pain, helping him stay mobile and giving Wallace a good quality of life. She knows not to give too much NSAIDs, give Adequan to help build cartilage and Cosequin to help with his joints. I feel she is a rare breed of Dr. in which actually cares about her patients and will go the extra efforts to ensure her patient gets the medical care needed and she is open to complimentary therapies such as accupunture. read more

This is a truly wonderful vet. They were able to figure out my cat's health issue after one visit and got him on the medication he needs which has him back to his old self. I can't recommend them enough, they're so nice and they really do know what they're doing. It definitely helps my cat feel more comfortable not hearing or seeing (or smelling) dogs there either, he's finally calm at the vet. If you have a cat and you're looking for a vet, look no further, this is the place to go. read more

We took our cats here for a physical and saw Dr. Dave and Dariusz. They were both so great with the cats and did a thorough examinations and answered all our questions and concerns. They made recommendations and provided us with choices and options regarding different treatments for our cats. The staff at the front desk was also kind and helpful. We will definitely bring our cats back here in the future and highly recommend it to others. read more

I had written a long scathing review on November 16th about a negative experience at A Cat's Place. I was very dissatisfied at the time and wasn't honestly expecting anything to change from it. Unbeknown to me, the owner, David Santisi, attempted to contact me not too long after my visit. Perhaps two weeks passed before he was able to reach my family (we are awful at answering phones & emails). He apologized for the inconvenience that the miscommunication and confusion caused us. Dave made it clear that we were to receive a full refund, as well as offered to have us bring in our cat for free to fulfill our initial expectations. To make a lovely long conversation short, we got off the phone with plans to bring in my cat for a tick inspection/removal, a bath, and we were to be given Revolution (selamectin) all in the same day. As I type this review my clean, protected (for the next half year), tick-free, and most importantly, happy cat is purring on my lap. I couldn't be happier with the trouble that Dave and his staff went through to fix my issue and fit in my cat at the last minute as it was near the end of the day. I know now that my negative experience was a rarity, and that anyone deciding to use their services won't be disappointed in the care you or your furry companion receives. It's very clear that A Cat's Place is very dedicated to what they do, and want to make sure that each of their customers are completely satisfied and happy when they walk out the door. I can't say enough about "A Cat's Place". Dr. Dave is a God"s send. I lost my cat Zeus over a year ago now. He helped me do everything we could make sure he was comfortable, not in pain and had a quality of life. He was with me when Zeus died. He was very kind, supportive, he didn't rush me, he gave me as much time I needed with Zeus and tried to give me some peace as well as his entire staff. The sympathy cards soon followed. Rare these days... I have since adopted from shelters. It was a rough go at first. But A Cats Place was there for every eye infection, respiratory infection and every other new adventure. I can't thank Dr. Dave enough for his time, never rushing us (myself and my five new little ones) all of his and his staff's endless patience. He treats and handles them as if they were his own. I live in Wallingford. It's a good 30-45 minutes to pack everyone up and a 45-50 minute drive one way to "A Cats Place". I can't imagine NOT going there. I have told DR. Dave if I had to I would walk them all there if I had to just to get them there. If you are looking for a Vet, not just a Vet. I mean a place that actually cares and cares about you too!! I had to bring my elderly and beloved cat in today to help him die. He was in pain and it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. The staff and doctor were simply amazing, kind and gentle. My 16 year old daughter was able to hold the cat on a blanket they provided on her lap while he passed. They told us we could stay as long as we wanted. This is one incredible place. read more

Darius grooms my cat and is an absolute expert at dealing with my fussy Persian. I took my fur child for a checkup and a gorgeous haircut! They were so helpful and nice, definetly reccomend them!

My update is that my cat had to have a small fatty tumor removed and they did a wonderful job! No complaints and my cat is doing excellent. Recovery time was super quick and no stitches to remove. I would recommend this vet to anyone who has a feline. read more

I had a great experience. The staff was great, everyone was very friendly. They acknowledged my concerns with my cat and took them seriously. Even though my cat is really difficult and terrible at the vet they were able to examine him thoroughly with little stress to him. I was contacted promptly with test results, I was unable to answer the phone but the voicemail was detailed and answered all of my questions. I would absolutely recommend them. read more

I love this place. The staff is always friendly and happy to help. My boy cat is an outdoor cat and i had to cancel twice because he decided not to show up. they were very understanding about that. He finally decided to come home and i saw he had a huge and horrible bite on his face. i called them immediately to see if they could see him today and they were very friendly and told me to come in within half an hour. the vet was great she explained everything that needed to be done and i felt comfortable leaving my boy in her hands. she called me a few times and kept in touch while he stayed over night for 2 days just to let me know what was happening and how he was doing. i appreciated that. Having located A Cat's Place with an online search, we were thrilled to see how the staff lived up to the reviews. From the initial phone call to our visit, we felt welcomed and our cat was at ease during the entire treatment. We didn't realize that our rescue cat had previously been seen at this facility, but they were quick to recognize that fact and retrieve her records. The vet tech Samantha and Dr. Doherty were attentive to all of us, answering questions while diagnosing/treating with the utmost respect and expertise.
