I've used Stamford Vet Center & My Pet Lodge for both the vet and grooming services. Vet Service - absolutely loved it. Felt very welcome from the walking into the door until I left with my pup. My dog is a rescue so is very timid and has some anxiety, but all staff members were patient, helpful and kind. I also appreciate the evening hours as it allows me to work a full day and still come to the vet. Grooming service - the first visit was a bad experience for my dog as she was very shy and was clearly fearful and agitated. I got a call 45 min after dropping her off saying my dog couldn't get groomed that day. I went to pick her up and the staff had calmed my dog down and whatever scared her, was not an issue by the time I got there. They didn't charge a fee, and was willing to rebook another appointment! Second grooming visit went well and the style was exactly what I had wanted! I would definitely recommend the services here. read more

I am so grateful that Stamford Veterinary Center was able to fit me in as a new patient and emergency. My cat's regular vet, Just Cats, turned me away due to overbooking, even when I told them she could not walk, and even when I said Dr. Gibbons gave me this cat almost 3 years ago that she personally rescued. My cat had a neurological condition. She stopped having seizures all the time I had her, so I weaned her off most of the meds, then this one horrific day she could no longer walk and was seizing. At Stamford Veterinary Center, the receptionist, and vet tech were so wonderful and caring. And Dr. Newton amazing. I had to put my sweetheart down, and they all made it so much more comfortable for us both. I have dogs as well. And I am going start bringing them there. I appreciate all they did for us both. Dr. Michele is patient, knowledgeable, and attentive with our 4 years dog now. My only feedback is that I don't love that in the past years all vaccines and body exams are now done " in the back room, without the owner presence ". Before we came to this place, our dog was very healthy. Before my mother took my poor 13 1/2 year old dog to this place, the previous vet told her that our dog had a severe ear infection on the outer ear and his ear should be never be washed because the infection would spread to inner ear and to the brain. When my mother came to Stamford Veterinary Center, she clearly told them of the dog condition. Yet Dr. Newton and whoever washed our dog disregarded this information and washed his ear thoroughly. Ever since then my dog was sick with meningitis symptoms. He had seizures and was stumbling all the time. He had trouble urinating and had diarrhea nonstop. When my mother visited this place again, Dr. Newton went and took out ear wax from our dog and gave us a diagnosis. She gave us antibiotic but my dog had a stomach upset as a side effect. So my mom went back and asked for another antibiotic medication. The doctor told her that it didn't matter because our dog was going to die anyway. Well none of this would have happened if they listen to our mother. When our dog came back, his entire behavior changed. He was blind, unresponsive and deaf. I believe that taking out ear wax from our dog made it worst. He was responsive at least before the ear wax extraction. Our dog had a final seizure that lasted almost six hours on Saturday and we had to put him down. I never write bad reviews but this one I had to do. My poor dog suffered almost five months and died miserably . It didn't have to be this way if they didn't touch his ear. My heart is broken and I feel so sorry for my dog. We regret ever visiting that place. read more

Do not go here. Take my word. They refuse to speak about treatments unless you bring your animal in. They are all about the money and not the care. I was mistreated as was my puppy. I asked too many questions and was considered irate. There are better vets in the area. I wish there was more I could do to warn people, but this place is a joke. The receptionist was rude, the vet refused to return my phone call, then wrote an awful note on pups medical paperwork. The original vet, Dr. Souppo, was amazing, kind and knowledgeable. He went above and beyond to provide great patient care, and made the end of my former pet's days as stress free and compassionate for us both which was no small feat. The front desk staff, led by Jodi at the time, were also amazing. Fast forward a few years to the current vet, Dr. Newton. I went to her for a few years, but had to find a new vet. Not only did I find she was trying to nickel and dime us for every little thing, but she didn't show all that much interest in how my current pet, who is critically ill, is doing. It's a complete 180 from the care we received at the very facility before, and so, I determined we're better off entrusting our pets (and money) elsewhere. read more

We had taken our Siamese cat to them when he was poorly and told he would need a rabies shot when though he was an indoor cat, we told them we didn't want this as he was too poorly and in a state and would revisit this after treatment... they took him away examined him out of the room and gave him the shot anyway without our consent. When we went to the front desk to pay our bill I saw the shot and cost on there and asked why they had gone against my wishes, things got heated when I questioned the bill, they told me they were a business at the end of the day! clearly peoples feelings and fears mean nothing to these people, they continued to stand by and tell us we were in the wrong to question them regardless. Whatever happened to customer care? a situation like a vets that plays on peoples emotions and needs as parents to fur babies? they had no compassion and treated us like we were wrong to question their actions making us seem irrational?! We recently went to Just for cats up the road and it was night and day, I don't know how we ever put up with this cold treatment when people are out there that really care and treat your pet with compassion something they were clearly lacking. Like many rescues Mason can have social anxiety, but he is greeted and treated so warmly and compassionately that now he loves to go to the vet! 2/28: I'm writing this as I've been waiting since 11:30 to pick up my dog from boarding at the pet lodge. No one is answering the door. They only allow pickup from 10-12 and 4-6. AND NO ONE IS HERE answering the doorbell. We live 5hours away I can't wait till 4 and I'm very concerned that no one is even here with my dog in the middle of the day. Also there is no other way to get a hold of anyone as the number 203 817 0440 goes straight to voicemail because it is the same number for the vet clinic which is closed. 3/7 update: I took a few days to cool down but wanted to give an update. First off my dog is safely back with us and she seems fine. The heroes of this story are the employee at the neighboring pet store and Jon the veterinary tech who came and helped us. When no one was answering the doorbell, phone call, emails, or this post, I went over to the pet store next door (Stan's) and asked the employee there. She went above and beyond and reached out to her boss who got a hold of someone connected with the Vet center. All to find out that the person suppose to be watching our dog went for lunch early. I get it, we all need to eat lunch, but go after the pick up time?? Anyways they were able to send Jon who help us out at about 12:20. They also did fully refund me when I called back on Monday and everyone else I spoke to was very very apologetic. As I reiterated to the petlodge, they need to have a form of contact even when the veterinary office is closed if the pet lodge business is open. I suggested also having a ring doorbell so you can speak with someone if you ring the bell. I think my take home lesson is to ask more questions before choosing my boarding place such as are the dogs ever left alone/unsupervised? read more

My wife and I love this place! We've been bringing our dog to the vet here since we moved to Stamford 3 years ago and they've been very helpful and accommodating. We then had a horrible grooming experience at PetSmart and decided to bring him for his grooming here as well. They were able to fix his haircut and have continued to groom him since that horrendous experience. Needless to say we will not be returning to PetSmart. TERRIBLE experience!! We bought the Groupon for dog boarding at this location and regret EVER sending our poor pup here. Granted the staff was friendly (front desk, dog attendant) it does not make up for the fact that they had NO idea what they are doing. Miscommunication, management or lack of caring led them to completely neglect their responsibilities. Problem number one: I packed the exact amount of food for our dogs stay and labeled the bag with her name on it! ALL of the food came back to me after her boarding there. WTF??!??!? What were you feeding my dog ?!?!? She is allergic to chicken and the food we buy her is super expensive and the only thing we feel comfortable with her eating. I believe I mentioned this fact to the front desk, but even if I didn't it's pretty much "duh" that a lot of dogs have special diets and needs. YOU Are apart of a veterinary hospital - you should know better!! Problem number two: I Paid EXTRA $$$ for you to give my dog her meds. Her very important meds. Guess what? Not a single one was gone. Not one. What if it was a life threatening condition ?? Would she be dead?? Who knows how much that set her treatment back. I had visited another local pet hospital that had rave reviews and after having a bad experience, I decided to try Stamford Veterinary Center & Pet Lodge on a recommendation from a dog sitter. I was first put off a bit by the steril-ness of the place, not very homey and nothing really on the shelves BUT the staff and Dr. Suppo are amazing. I have been there for regular check-ups and even for an emergency and they are really top notch. I never felt as though my pups were not taken care of, or in the best care possible. They take the time to REALLY explain everything so you understand what is happening and I never felt like I was being taken for a ride - which I can't say about other vets in the area. My dog loves coming here. I open the front door to take her to daycare, & she takes off. Dr Newton is her vet, who I really like. Initially, I thought she had a poor bedside manner, but now I like her no BS, to the point attitude, because I see that her care of the animals is priority, not schmoozing the customers, & I trust her. Great place. Very experienced vet, our kitten got recovered from diarrhea very soon！we decided to come here as our regular vet.

Dr Suppo is a wonderful vet! He has treated my Lhaso Apso and my Chihuahua a couple of times now with patience and very thorough exams. He has never disappointed me or my dogs and has always come up with the best plan of action when they're not feeling well. Recently my Chihuahua had gotten into the garbage and ate a chicken carcass. She got very sick so I brought her to the emergency vet in Stamford who took x-rays and told me she needs time to get better and sent me home with some medicine. My chihuahua was still very ill the next day and I decided to bring her to Dr. Suppo for a second opinion. He took his time and examined her mouth with a scope and found a long elastic string that was stuck around her back tooth going down her throat! She ate the string that ties the chicken legs together and has been choking on it and the emergency vet overlooked it. He sedated her and was able to pull the string out in one piece which was already down in her stomach. It was almost as long as her! If he did not find that string that day she would have past it through her intestines and she would have needed surgery to get it out. Dr. Suppo did a much better exam than the emergency vet and saved my dogs life and saved me from spending thousands of dollars if I had waited to see if she got better. The receptionist Nancy kept in contact and checked up on us day by day until my little Chihuahua was back to her old self again. read more

I initially took our yorkie here for vet services and they were great. Place is very clean and staff are friendly. The doctor was thorough and explained everything. I now use them for pet daycare for half days so he can play with other dogs. He loves going as he always jumps out of the car to run to the front door. We were looking for a new vet for our two pups and after reading the reviews we choose Stamford Veterinary. From the first call to our visit we felt very comfortable. There wee follow up calls to check on them. Most importantly one of our pups has had allergic reactions to vaccinations. Absolutely the best! My husband and I are new puppy parents to a 13 week old Frenchie. Dr. Newton and staff are all amazing, caring, and were excellent with our new pup. I love this vet center. I got a Corgi puppy almost a year ago and a friend who works there reached out about acquiring their services and I'm glad she did. The staff is so friendly and always genuinely happy when I bring Maddie in for services or daycare. I've boarded my puppy there a few times and she's always so happy when picking her up, which means they have definitely been very attentive to her. I also feel comfortable knowing if anything happens to Maddie that there are medical services on site. I highly recommend this Veterinarian place to everyone. read more

I knew I would never bring my dog back to this place when, after taking his temperature, the technician said she noticed that he had not been neutered. Does she not know what an anatomically-intact male canine looks like? She just took the thermometer out of his rectum! You'd think she'd realize there were no testicles! All my dog needed at this time was a rabies vaccine. I communicated that very clearly when I brought him in, yet he was taken to the 'back' and when he came out two minutes later, I was handed a bill for an astronomical amount ($398+) for a bunch of "routine" (aka unnecessary) services, that I did not ask for. In fact, I was charged for a Fecal Exam that was not even performed! When I called the office to have the charge removed, they offered to keep my $ as a pre-payment for a service to be performed in the future! No thanks, I'll pay as I go. And I will not, ever, go back to that office! The one star is for the time my dog was seen by Dr. Supo - liked him but, since then, quality of care has steadily gone downhill. read more

Absolutely amazing care and team of professionals, who genuinely love pets and care for yours like they are theirs! Very recently moved to the area and needed a vet that was able to squeeze us in the same day and first thing in the morning, that wasn't going to cost an arm and a leg. After calling around there were very few that were able to accommodate. After talking to lovey Jodi, who is a gem herself (and happens to be very educated on pet health) she was able to squeeze us in and set up for us to meet with Dr. Newton. Dr. Newton was amazing and actually spent time in the room looking at my fur baby and explaining everything in great detail. She even spent time getting to know my Zoey and within a matter of minutes Zoey was running on the floor to her and pawing at her to be held. Please note this is unheard of, considering Zo is a rescue and hates going to the vet. All of the vet techs are great as well and are so calming and well natured. We left very happy and with a very clear treatment plan. And not to mention even had received a phone the next day just to check in on our progress. Very great experience all around! And lastly, Jodi convinced us to come and give their groomer Rita a try (when you try for the first time you get a good discount!). Not going to lie I was very nervous as I am a very picky pom mommy of 2 and have very high standards, as poms are tricky to groom. Rita was great and her prices are very reasonable. I brought my dog to this place for an overnight stay because camp bow wow was full at the time. The place is clean and the people were friendly. That is where the fun stopped. First, there pricing is very deceiving. The overnight rate was $45 dollars a night, but if the dog wasn't picked up the next day by 1 pm (or 2 pm), they charge another $15 dollars for an evening pickup. Absurd! Plus they only tell you this when you drop off the dog. The second problem i have with the vet center and pet lodge is they used my dogs vaccination records (which were required at the time of first pet lodging) to send me emails saying my dog was due in for his next fecal exam. I never signed up to use them as a vet and i will never use them as a vet. The email they sent me was for a fecal exam for the dog, which the dog had 6 months ago (as said on the records i gave them). I contacted the American Animal Hospital Association website, which recommends these are done annually, not every six months. Just another example of Vet Center trying to steal your money. I currently use Bulls Head Animal Hospital, and after trying out a few vet's they are by far the absolute best. read more
