The car's front wheel came off. Marquis came to the rescue. He was honest with us and professional. I thought to myself, "this is impossible to move without damaging the truck". But Marquis was very careful and used different tools to move the car from a yard in the port (deep pot holes) to Gardena. He works miracles! It was a heavy truck and he used his own strength (brains and muscle) to get the car to the shop. He shook my hand before driving off and was wearing a raiders hat! I'm so embarrassed. . . .After calling AAA, the first man from Checkered Towing couldn't help me by giving my car's battery a jump because even though I had my AAA card and driver's license ready, it turned out I had misplaced my keys. He was still very patient. My son went outside and told him I couldn't find my keys and he said, "No problem, just call again when you guys find them." After I found them, I called AAA again. This time it was Juan from Checkered Towing, and he assisted me by providing a new battery for $155.33 because my battery was dead. He also gave additional tips to maintain the battery which I greatly appreciate so the battery cells wouldn't go bad. He was very courteous, amiable, and professional. read more

So I am making a right turn on my way to work and my car dies. I call AAA and I get lucky enough to have Checkered Tow sent to help me. The guy is so friendly and super helpful. He tows my car to their garage, hooks me up with an unbelievable deal on an Enterprise rental car and then takes me there to get it! They check my car out and realized that it was dead. No surprise. It had about 200,000 miles on it. I had no idea what to do with it and they let me store it there for over a week at no charge! If I could give this place more stars I would. I had a great experience with this towing company. I called AAA who set me up with A Checkered Towing to tow my car from my office to the tire shop. The guy who showed up was nice, friendly and did an awesome job of getting me to the tire shop with no problems. I didn't get his name but he deserves a shout out! Don't remember our tech's name but he just came back from Oklahoma and works at A Checkered Towing. He was friendly, kind and we appreciated his demeanor during the ordeal of hitting a gnarly pothole going 710N (apparently the pothole has taken several casualties as of late). He was quick, got us off the Anaheim off ramp and brought us to the tow yard for better lighting. Let myself and the dog stay in the truck cab for warmth while he attempted to put air back in the flat. No luck, so he installed the temporary donut to get us going. Jayson at Checkered Auto Center has helped me with my car several times. This place is tucked away so you'd never notice it, but I'm picky about mechanics. My car is old and needs some new belts and stuff.....and this is where I'll be going for that work. The prices he's quoted are affordable, and he's checked my car without charge before. Buyer Beware!!! I provided the phone clerk all the details for the pick up & drop off location. We approved the cost and upon pick up the quote changed to a higher cost. I called the phone clerk back and she did not apologize nor was sympathetic regarding the mis-quote. Her tone and attitude was extremely aggressive. She was argumentative and non empathetic. It's 12am in the morning & she had the audacity to state if we don't pay the price they won't tow our car after waiting 20 minutes. Worst customer service of all time!! Don't take the chance with this company. I will never use them again. read more

I called AAA due to my car not starting in August. The tow truck driver arrived and said It would be a good idea if I brought my vehicle in for service. I meet Jason in the office whom is the service manager claiming that my alternator failed and it would be best to get it replaced with them so i don't have to deal with the stress of a "remanufactured alternator possibly failing on me". He told me to my face he would put in a "brand NEW alternator with warranty" . He explained to me the uncertainty of going with other places and having them put used parts in my car. I went along with it and $400 later (minus a non existent AAA discount) I thought I had a brand NEW alternator. However the battery light still kept coming on and he claimed he didn't know why. A month later my car completely dies on me in the middle of the night. I call A Checkered and explain to them that I just had service and I am coming back. I drop the car off and the next day I show up and I said to jason, "You told me I had a brand NEW alternator installed in the car" He said "Its remanufactured and it did fail, so we will replace it" so this means he LIED to my face the first time just to get the sale. Beware this man is a liar and will lie to your face to get your business. No apologies. I won't go back! read more

Terible service in my opinion. First off they did not give me a receipt for my towing service. They promise to send me a receipt via email i provided and then waited two days from the service and still nothing. I called on the third day and they dont even have any information that i gave them pretty much started from scratch. Now my insurance is asking for this simple information for reimbursement and i dont even have it. Go somewhere else for towing service. read more
