We waited until Monday to call because weekend service calls for anything like this are always astronomical. They showed up that same day! After seeing how hot it was in our house, they moved around clients that just needed regular servicing, to get our AC installed as soon as finally possible. They installed the new units on Wednesday and by Wednesday night, we were comfortable and cool again. The technician (who is one of the owners) and his helper were both super friendly and helpful and very caring. We've had a Freon leak in our system for years, which we just lived through by recharging the freon ever year, but once it was too bad this year, it was DONE. These guys helped us so fast and at a much more reasonable price that we had expected.

I was really hoping this company would do something to fix the issue but I've given them 5 chances already and they either are unwilling to, or unable to. In June 2021 I decided to get a new AC unit and entirely new ductwork. It was extremely pricey and I also got the $600 parts and labor warranty that covers the "diag[nostic] fee during normal business hours [...] all parts and labor for 10 years. Just not any Freon that is needed for a repair." I pay a little over $12,000 for everything (which I later find out when protesting my property tax is much more expensive than normal according to the board, just a heads up to shop around). I would be okay with the higher price if it solved all my issues, but this was just the start of my problems. A little while later we notice the AC vent in the ceiling is dripping water onto the carpet and leaving a water stain in the ceiling. I call and they send someone out who looks around and just says everything is fine, to let everything dry out and call if it happens again. Well...it happens again, and we call and the second guy comes out and says the exact same thing, this time with a little dismissive attitude to be honest, like me and my husband are crazy despite the carpet being wet and the ceiling showing water stains. Each time the techs also inferred I would be charged, which I didn't appreciate as I mentioned I had the warranty, and while I wasn't billed in the end, I did not like guessing if it would be honored or not (which also, would have been a breach of warranty and contract under law, look up Texas Deceptive Practices Act). The third time this happened we just had the ceiling painted and I lost it when the allegedly "fine" AC started dripping water again, and directly texted the owner explaining that I was fed up. Well, he finally sends someone else over and they discover the pan to catch the condensate was too small and installed incorrectly...all this after multiple techs came and essentially gaslighted us saying everything was in fine working order. But I am leaving this review because now, nearly a year later since the tray was installed, the AC vent has started leaking yet again after we had the ceiling painted yet again on my own dime when really this should never had happened if they had installed the pan correctly. They send a tech and, you guessed it, they say the AC is in perfect condition, the drain line is not clogged, the pan is fine, etc. and simply say it is because I did not change the filter (which I actually did recently!). So, here I am with a puddle in my carpet and newly water-stained ceilings for the third time in 3 years since getting the new, overpriced, AC and ductwork. Oh, and apparently my warranty is no longer valid because I did not have a maintenance check from them within the last 6 months (my last was February 2023 and it is now September), which was not stated ANYWHERE on the piece of paper I was given that showed I had the warranty. I may or may not seek compensation for damages depending on the costs to repair the AC and the ceiling. I give them 2 stars because the owner is responsive and prior maintenance check techs were friendly, but when it comes to the cost, diagnosing issues, and quality work, I really can't recommend them after this saga.

I was visiting my family last year when their A/C went out- of course when it passed 100 degrees. Honestly, I think it happened Thursday afternoon, but between the temp and humidity and spending a good part of the day outside doing yard work, I think we all just thought we were individually having a difficult time cooling down. It wasn't until late that night that it became obvious, so it was early Friday morning when I called. My parents told me they had used Barker's several times in the past and have always been very happy with them, so I looked up their number and called them ASAP. When they answered I explained that I knew this was a busy time of year for them but I was very worried about my father's health considering it broke 100 the day before. They took me very seriously and said they could have someone out between 10am and 12pm- better news than I could have hoped for! Roughly 30 minutes later, Boomer called me and told me he could be there in 15 minutes unless it was better for him to wait until 10am. I gladly told him to come right over. When he arrived I asked him to wait a moment while I finished securing the animals and got my father masked up before he came in to check the thermostat. He immediately offered to mask up as well, which was kind and more than I would have expected. He worked quickly, efficiently and thoroughly. He took our situation into consideration and really helped us out. The service fee was $119 and worth every penny. Several months later I found out the A/C was out again, this time while I was out of town. I decided to pay the annual membership fee over the phone when scheduling a visit. It includes free quarterly inspections, waived service fees and a percentage off work that has to be done. I think it ended up being around $185. It definitely worked out as the 26 year old unit had to be replaced. I also get texts when they are going out there and it's been really convenient. They've worked around my mother's schedule for the quarterly inspections and have been responsive when she needs someone to come out and help her. I really feel they are taking care of my mother and it's been worth renewing the membership fee again. I've had no issues with any of the techs that have come out or anyone in the office when I call. She also pays annually for the maintenance plan that supposedly comes with addition coverage benefits. My mom is on a very limited income and is still paying off the HVAC in monthly payments. One of the reasons we decided to go with a new HVAC rather than a repair was because we would be covered by the warranty and not have to spend any additional money for at least a number of years. Well, it turns out that's not the case. When they came out to check the HVAC yesterday, they determined that the compressor wasn't working correctly. It's working at too high a pressure and is putting a strain on our system. He recommended that we buy an adapter kit for $319 that would help the compressor work better and without it the compressor could go out, trigger breakers, and out a continued strain on the HVAC system. We asked about the warranty and basically they're blaming the manufacturer saying that "they" won't cover the replacement of the compressor unless it completely stops working all together, despite the fact that it is not working within the warranties coverage period. Barker's claims that they only cover the labor warranty and that there is nothing they can do. When I then asked if they were charging labor to install the adapter to fix the problem, they of course conceded that they are. This feels like a workaround for the warranty that we thought we purchased and away for Barker's to make additional money even though the HVAC they installed isn't working correctly. Basically, our HVAC is not working correctly but we need to spend more money to compensate for the gaps in warranty. A quick skim through the reviews shows a number of other reviews with warranty frustrations.

They were the fastest to reply to my request even though I requested on Sunday. Negative: the prices are outrageous. They charged me $180 to diagnosis which is about 2x more than local normal. They said it would not be charged if they repair. Now my unit is under warranty for parts, so it will be only for labor charge. A day later, I received a quote with $1,270 price tag. I did a quick research on Google and it said the average cost with parts under warranty is between $300 and $800. I complained and they gave me 10% discount. I asked is $180 would be applied. They said yes, and I assumed $180 will be taken out from $1270, which I was wrong... so the original cost was $1,450. I didn't learn this after the repair was done. I asked breakdown of the price. They said it's a flat rate so they could not give me. They couldn't even give the original price, less $180? That's pretty bad. I contacted multiple local repair people. Their prices with parts under warranty is between $350 and $750, give and take. This repair took them 45 minutes with 2 people. $1,450 for such job is outrageous and simply ripping customers off. We customers are blind and in a hurry with AC breakdown in the middle of the summer. However we should be delivery enough to do our homework. I hope the screenshots will help others to understand that this company charges at least 2x more than others for the same service.

I saw them remove the igniter at one point. They told me that I needed to replace the power cord because it was loose and burned. It was not burned or loose; I checked. I paid them the $90 service call which I knew about in advance. No "major" problems so far. The next morning...no heat. So I called them and they returned two days later. He showed me a broken igniter which was going to cost me $210 and I paid him. They had the igniter out the day before and it wasn't broken then. I normally do all my repairs but I'm not able to do as much now. I could buy the igniter for $77, quite a markup and it's simple to replace. I can spot a scam and this was one. Don't use these guys. Try some different crooks. All repair shops seem to be going that direction now. I wish I could find honest repair men. I'm 82 but not dead or stupid.

We had trouble running the dryer at the same time as some things in the garage such as a secondary fridge and irrigation control panel. The funny thing is we've had this setup working for years since we moved in until only recently it just kept tripping the plug. The issue was getting triggered from the dryer vibrating on the wall which led to investigating all the plugs in that circuit. We had Mark Clements come out with Hayden and they figured out the issue almost immediately by swapping things around with other plugs and installing a new plug so the switch didn't get thrown anymore. All this to say, I made the call in to Dailey this morning around 7:45 am, technically when they're not even open, and they answered. They were able to call me back around 8:10 and got us scheduled for 9:30 am. It was all sorted out around 9:45, which I consider to be a nice turnaround unworthy of complaints.
