I do not consider this driving school any good . my 19 year old took 10 lessons and went for his test and failed . the problem wasn't he failed . The proble was he wasn't ready to go for it in my eyes . The instructor was constantly saying to him ( No body passes on there first time and sometimes not on there second time . Also the instructor was constantly talking to him while my son was driving . Nothing to do with his driving . He failed on making his Left and Right turns to wide. .I called the order to discuss this matter and had no Luck with him . I don't believe he got a fair chance After paying almost a $1.000 . since then he is taking lessons with a different driving school and is doing well . We were also told he should have never been put forward for his test at that time . Shame on A 1 driving school in Sunnyside . That's why I believe it's all about the money not on teaching you the proper way to drive . I highly recommend A Club Driving School! I had very little experience driving in the past and decided to pay for the 6 class package that includes the 5-hr lesson and use of the school's car for the road test. My instructor Jeannette was calm and patient and was able to provide great feedback after our lessons. Today I passed my road test on the first try and could not be happier! I cannot speak to the quality of the class itself as I walked out 20mins after the start time of the class I was there to take since A.it had not even begun, B. there was NO AC, C. it is one very small cramped room. They seemed nice and their reviews are great but for this lady that's not enough to sit through a five hour class in a over packed hot box. read more

A little bit about me first, I got into a very bad car accident when I was a kid. It put me off driving for a very VERY long time. So as I reached 40 I made it a personal goal to finally learn how to drive. A Club was incredibly receptive to my issues and extremely patient. They helped me around my issues and instructed me in a very methodical way which is how I prefer to learn. I don't want floaty responses I want black and white and that's what they gave me because I asked for that. Request Louie to be your instructor ! The best and coolest teacher ! He trust his students . I only attended classes with him 3 times and I PASSED THE ROAD TEST ONE TAKE last Tuesday ! Oct 9 in fresh meadows. New owner is a bit of a wreck. Could not find receipts from previously paid amount. and while it was acknowledged that I had received some services the new owner would not give the remainder of what was still outstanding in credit to me. In front of a class of other participants in the school portion she started banging things around on her desk when she finally agreed to honor a portion of what I had already paid and then started crying at her desk. I have never been more uncomfortable but had to remain in order to get the safety school certificate. In a million years I would never recommend. read more

Such a great experience with A Club! My husband and I each signed up for their 6-class package. I've driven before, but years ago-so was rusty and nervous, and my husband had no prior experience. Our instructors were very knowledgable, helpful, friendly and patient. They provided us with great instruction as we practiced through Sunnyside, and helped to build our confidence behind the wheel. It's a small business, so there's extra care provided to their customers-this morning the owner of the business met me and my husband to drive us to our road test, and gave us encouraging advice while we waited our turn. I have called ahead to postpone the class, because of an emergency meeting. They have told me that I should have called 24 hrs before and cant take it anymore . Paid $275 for 5 classes and one is gone for nothing. They could have given another chance. What is this? SAT exam? Job interview? It is just a driving practice. So many cheaper options out there and better car quality. I have picked this one ,because it was close to where I lived. read more

I'm fine with this place..they're usually friendly to me. They do call my phone a lot which does get to me sometimes, but I can understand that they have to receive payments sooner or later. They have two very good teachers there who I highly recommend, Elina and Debbie. I've had all my lessons with both of them and they are stellar driving instructors. Of course, they both teach in their own way, but they're both great. As long as you pay on time and you pick the instructors that you're most comfortable with, then this place is extremely helpful when it comes to preparing you for your road test. read more

We had a great experience with this school for my teenage daughter. We'd purchased the 6 class package which included the 5 hour lesson and scheduling of the road test plus taking her to and from the road test. My daughter had Janette as an instructor for all 6 lessons and I would highly recommend her. She was patient, calm, kind and gave her great feedback and some useful tips for the test. The day of the road test, she had another instructor, Sebastian, who took her to the test and was equally as nice and was able to calm her nerves and also give her some great tips and feedback going into the road test, which she then passed! I will add that because my schedule was ever-changing with work, I had to reschedule multiple lessons and even the road test on two separate occasions to a later date. I gave a couple days notice in each instance and they were really good about it. They seem to be pretty busy lately, so as another reviewer recommended, I would make the lessons in advance as best you can to get on a good schedule and routine. read more

I came to A Club as a very rusty driver (I haven't driven for several years). I passed my test in England many years ago but needed to take my road test here. I took two lessons with Jeanette the week of my test (I really appreciated the post-work evening slots). I higher recommend her. I'd been feeling very apprehensive, worrying about making a stupid mistake on the day, but she did an amazing job of making the lessons nice and chill and putting me at ease. We fitted in lots of useful practice into each lesson and she gave me excellent tips and pointers for the road test. The car was nice and compact and the rates were reasonable. On the day of the test Howard took me over to the test site in Astoria. We had a great chat and again he did a wonderful job of putting me at ease and giving me useful advice. I passed with a perfect score! These guys car about encouraging and embedding good habits that will stay with students long after the test and make them safer drivers. I'd definitely recommend for both new drivers and foreign drivers like myself looking to get a NYS license! read more

I am a BIG fan of ELINA!. I really enjoy my lessons with her. Very much in details, instead of just correcting my mistakes, (I had lessons with others who would just keep correcting the turn by pulling the steering in the right direct but no further instruction), she explains where and what I did wrong and how to estimate the turn accurately. This is just an example. She taught me a very simple method of parking and three point (broken U) turn. She is VERY attentive and always has pointers for all my driving issues. I have been to A Club to handle DMV transactions for years. I personally have titled registered and plates 5 motorcycles with them and they have always been extremely knowledgable, professional, courteous, and always set expectations. I booked a 6 lesson refresher course with A Club. Scheduling lessons was easy over the phone and receptionist was knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Instructor picked me up from my house so that was pretty convenient. I had most of my lessons with Dino. He was hands down the best instructor. Very laid back and made me feel so comfortable even though I was really anxious and down right scared of killing us both. He gave helpful hints and lots of encouragement and wasn't overly critical. He said that all I needed was practice so he didn't critique every mistake I made which would have overwhelmed me. I would highly recommend Dino you won't regret it! Unfortunately the reason why I am giving only 3 stars is because I had one lesson with a different instructor, Jennifer, that was the worst. A complete 180 from Dino. The receptionist described her as "tough" but that is a much nicer word than I would use. She was so negative and down right nasty. She gave me attitude and made me feel so uncomfortable I did my worst driving with her. Really awful. Stay away from her if you want a positive experience driving. read more

Although my husband John is a licensed driver, he had not driven for a few years and since we will be soon be moving to Florida he felt he needed some brushup. He signed up for three double lessons with A Club, and was assigned Jeannette as his instructor. He said Jeannette was very professional, knowledgable, and patient. She pointed out minor mistakes that he was making and got him road ready in no time. Aclub. does not even deserve a star. It shows up as one star here simply because Yelp requires me to give the school a star in order to submit the review. While the instructors were decent, the customer service was extremely terrible. Aclub scheduled my driving lesson and my road test wrongly twice. I rescheduled my flights and woke up at 5:30 a.m. two times within a week for nothing. They just want still money ,, be aware. Think twice !!! A club!!! YOU ARE FIRED! read more

Am renaming the company: A+ Club. A Club was the nicest of all the astoria-based driving schools I reached out to. Prices are super reasonable and my instructor, Jim, fantastic and funny to boot. I am certain he is the reason I passed my road test (driving lessons with the boyfriend just don't cut it ;). They cover all the necessary steps anyone needs to pass their road test. Oh I wanna write something abt the A club driving school, let me start with the good thing first, they r flexible, instructor r fine and friendly and they pick u up from ur place, I had my first driving class from here and took 10 classes packaged. Well I was doing fine but I got failed, coz whole time I practice with two different car and I was feeling comfortable with it but on road text day, they gave me different car tht mks me so nervous bcox I was not familiar with tht car and lost the confidence, on tht I got bad ass road test inspector. Any wys what m trying to say is plz mk sure its gonna be the same car on ur road test if anyone taking the class. Because they switch the car sometime. Gud Luck read more

It was the best choice i have made they were open to rescheduling an making my lessons as most comfortable as possible. I passed my road test on my first try after 10 lessons with this school. I owe a big thanks to Howard and Dino who were patient, extemely helpful andunderstanding. However, I started out with Jennifer Rojas as my instructor, but after 3 lessons I switched my instructor because we got into an arguement in the car while driving. She was constantly stressing me out with confusing instructions, which she never owned up to. She never offered solutions and only blamed me for any issues. After switching instructors I had both Howard and Dino and both instructors were great. They taught me great techniques and gave me constructive feedback that helped me improve my driving. My second to last driving lesson, I had Jennifer again and I had hoped she would be professional, but she was the same and seemed bitter. At the end of the lesson I asked her if she thought I would pass and she said no because of a tiny issue with turning. I passed no thanks to her and her childish behavior. So if you're planning to go here beware of Jennifer, she's not the best choice for an instructor. read more
