If I could give a rating of zero stars I would. Before signing up I was recommended the 30 hour package by one of the girls behind the desk who told me it would include 30 hours of lessons and 4 hours on a driving simulator she also told me that once paid the charges are nonrefundable. This package was over $1300 so this school is one of the more expensive. I understood and I signed up for the package. Then when I called the school to use the simulator a couple of days later, I was told that I would not be able to use it because it hadn't been operating for a while. I asked if it would be fixed soon. The answer I recieved was a plain "I don't know." That's it. No explaination, no nothing. Just "I don't know." and complete silence. I broke the silence by asking when I would be getting my money back since they sold me something that they obviously do not offer. "No." Silence. (I'm not exhagerating at all here. This is exactly how this girl conducted herself over the phone.) I break the long silence again and ask again if I can get something in exchange or get my money back. "No." Silence again. And then she puts me on hold! I've never experienced anything like this. The lack of consideration still astounds me. When she gets back on the line she then tries to get me off the phone. When I insist on getting SOME type of explaination she just says that the money is nonrefundable. When they were selling me the package they told me it came with it, but after they got their money it was a different story. When I tried signing up for the road test I was told they would call me in 5 days to schedule it for me. They never did ofcoarse. But then I witnessed someone who tried signing up that morning got a slot, so I went in again and asked. I was told I would have to wait another 3 days to sign up. What??? Well, of coarse what ended up happening is that I couldn't reserve the car I had been using for the lessons for the test because after waiting so many days, my instructor's car was booked for the last week I was going to be in town. I had no choice but to reserve a completely different car than I'd been driving for the Road test. Which is not so great considering I had no previous driving experience & adjusting to new cars wasn't going to be terribly easy. But I scheduled a lesson for the day of the road test with that car so I could at least get used to it a little bit before the test. The day of the test I walk in to the office to get ready to practice with this car I've never driven and I'm asked by the girl behind the desk that I've come into 3 times a week for the past month and half "Where are your glasses?" My WHAT? She continues to tell me that there is a restriction on my brand new permit stating that I require glasses to drive. I don't see it on the permit but she tells me, that I wouldn't be able to see it because it's in code that laymen can't read. I'm completely taken aback by this. First off because I specifically went to the DMV to fix that mistake a month prior and since it's in "code" I didn't realize that my new replacement card had the same restriction on it. Secondly because I had been giving them my permit before almost every lesson since day one and THIS was the day these "experts" on driving laws ask me why I never wear glasses on the road? Well, I'm dissapointed, but I try to reschedule the lesson... But They DON'T WANT to reschedule the lesson! Instead they insist that I go to a shop nearby and purchase some fake glasses for the exam! I kid you not. They tell me that my vision would be a little blurry with them on, but no big deal. I stood there a little frozen at this suggestion so they had to keep telling me to go buy these fake lenses & even told me what store to go to. But when I went there the glasses gave me a headache. I couldn't find a pair with no prescription. 45 minutes later I call them and tell them this is ridiculous and that I've completely missed my lesson with the new car and that I just want to reschedule. But they tell me that the lesson I am missing is nonrefundable and that i could only go and take the test right away! At this point I had had it with these people! It is inconceivable to me that these people who have a licence to TEACH NY STATE LAWS OF DRIVING would rather have me go on the road in a car I never got into before... with blurry eyesight with FAKE glasses ....in order to Trick the New York state licenced examiner... they would rather do all this than refund me the 45 bucks OR reschedule me the lesson even after they knowingly selling me a package that was not available. UNBELIEVABLE. I refused to take the test under those horrible conditions - and no- I was never given a refund nor a rescheduled lesson. I took lessons & then a driving test which I passed 2 weeks ago. Let me start out by stating that this is one of the most expensive driving schools around... certainly way more expensive than all the ones in the area. I suppose it makes sense considering that they have ads EVERYWHERE including late night tv & yellow pages and of coarse they have to pay for those ads. So who picks up the bill for these Ads? The students of coarse.. and they charge the rates to show it. But I decided to go ahead and pay because my package included lessons with an instructor as well as 4 hours on a simulator, a defensive driver's coarse, and a manual. Well AFTER I paid the full non-refundable fee I was told that their simulator was not working and that I would not get to use it. I also didn't get the manual right away. So I assumed I would get a partial refund and was told NO. The excuse was that the package already gave a discount for the lessons so I still wouldn't get to use the simulator OR get some money back. Um... considering they charge ALOT more than what other places charge for lessons I do not see a "discount" anywhere and I wouldn't have paid for this package if they bothered to tell me I wouldn't be getting everything that is included in it. But they made sure not to tell me that part before taking my nonrefundable money. The service behind the desk is not great either. Often you stand there forever listening to them talk about their boyfriends and what movie they went to see last night & won't even acknowledge you standing behind the desk. It's like they're all childhood buddies who got their jobs from their highschool friend or something- at least that's how they act. They certainly don't act like people who feel they HAVE to do their work or be professional to get their paychecks. On the plus side my instuctor was not bad and he helped me pass the test, but I had taken a couple of classes previously at another place only 10 blocks away from ferrari that had an excellent instructor with over 10 years experience at what would've added up to significantly less than ferrari's rates. If they didn't trick me into their non-refundable package that didn't even provide all that was promised, I would've gone back to the other place. My advice is to go to a place that spends their money on fixing their staffing and broken equipment rather than on lots of ads. read more

Laura is the BEST driving coach you'll ever have at Ferrari. I know a lot of people are gushing about others, but LAURA is the real MVP. I signed up for a 10 lesson package with Laura, demanded I only have ONE instructor (sometimes they try to switch you around, but it's your money and your time, you stick with one person!) and I made sure I had Laura for my road test day. I did lessons at the office as we both agreed it was easier for both of us and a more valuable use of my time in the car with her. Laura is extremely professional and friendly! I will miss chatting with her about various topics in the car and making jokes. Even though we talked a lot, Laura is a professional instructor and her foot is ever hovering over that brake and she's vigilant about our safety. Laura taught me everything I needed to know to pass the exam and then more. I'm a more confident and SAFE driver because of Laura. She not only teaches you how to parallel park (her technique is spot on), but she also teaches you how to FIX a bad job, which prior instructors NEVER taught me how to do. Because I knew how to fix a bad job, or even avoid it, I wasn't dinged for an extra maneuver on my road test when I had to park behind a 4x4. Laura gives you all the tools you need to become a safe, confident driver. She talks you calmly through everything and repeats things as necessary. Some people sign up for a few lessons, but I HIGHLY recommend that if you really want to be a confident, safe driver, with few marks on your road test to sign up with Laura. I passed when it was DOWN POURING with only 1 mark for a wide left turn (5pts). After my road test, I continued with Laura for three more lessons to work on more advance skills such as highway driving and left parallel parking. Again, thank God for Laura. Highway driving is daunting, but Laura seriously put me at ease and I had an awesome time on the highway that I understand now why people prefer it! I even got thumbs up from several *real* drivers around me. So, if you're committed and ready to just do the thing, sign up with LAURA and become a safe driver! Also, if you're like me and don't have a ton of money for the entire package, just ask for a payment plan and Ferrari is happy to help you out! Thank you Laura, you the best! read more

One name "KEITH CRAWFORD". This is the name of the instructor at the Brooklyn location on Linden Boulevard. He deserves all the recognition due to the fact, that for one his teaching has helped me obtain my CDL Class A license with a near PERFECT score! As of 5/7/2015 I passed my road test and I couldn't have done it without his amazing knowledge. This instructor specifically and I've tried several is by FAR the most passionate when it comes to teaching. He is by far very involved in wanting to make sure you become the best driver on the road hands down. What I appreciated more than anything was not only his patience but simply his professionalism. He's 100% committed to his work and it's honestly rare to find people in this world that truly enjoy teaching. His style of teaching is very honest and doesn't hover over you unless needed based on your individual progress. I was very determined to get my license and picked up on things quick but again his teaching style simplified everything. When it came time for my road test I did not feel at any point nervous whatsoever and that's mainly due to his belief in his students. What I admired the most was how honest and blunt he was on his criticism and if you did something that would potentially fail you on the actual exam he would SURELY highlight that by saying you FAILED! You need this kind of discipline when spending the money that's required to get your classes. Again I've tried several instructors and he is by far the most sincere when it comes to his job. If your looking to obtain a commercial drivers license KEITH CRAWFORD is truly the best of the best. If you take lessons with him and your determined to get your license you WILL. Don't expect him to do it for you though!! I want to be very clear that you need to do your homework meaning take it serious and the rest will follow. I did a total of 35 hours behind the wheel and I couldn't be more comfortable driver a tractor trailer if I went anywhere else. I RECOMMEND this instructor to anyone who wants to get the CDL class A or B. Trust this guy is simply the BEST and most passionate of them all. They get 5 stars for one and one reason only, Victor the Instructor. He is courteous, patient, caring and entertaining without being overbearing or resulting to yelling even when I made a few glaring mistakes. Thank you for helping me get over my fear of driving and getting my license. I highly recommend him to whoever wants to get their license on the first try, is desperate to pass the road test and/or considers driving scary and challenging. I now like driving and can't wait to get behind the wheel. Thanks again Victor! The Astoria location is alright for a driving school. I have seen much worse locations. The staff is courteous but not exactly professional. I would suggest to ask for a managers if any issues arise, as the front desk people are not very quick and can exacerbate situations instead of diffusing them. Their cancellation system is not the best. They have a 24hr cancellation policy which is 24 hours to the dot. I did not mind losing the money as it was a conscious decision on my part but I felt bad when the instructor was not notified and showed up for the early morning appointment. When I complained to the staff, they kept telling me that they could not refund the money which I did not ask for. However, they offered a discounted lesson price as an olive branch which I took advantage of. The 5-hour class is ok. It is not entertaining but it is not meant to be. It taught me quite a few things and I appreciated it. There were a few technical issues with the DVDs but it was much better than another location with their VHS and 19 inch TV from the 80ies. As to cost, I have spent the same or more with other schools but did not get the same returns. I liked the fact that they gave me a chance to consult with my driving instructor after a first lesson. Victor gave me his recommendation which was very useful and made me feel confident about my decision to follow it. And I got my license! Yay! read more

Ok, I'm so stoked right now, because I passed my road test. This is the 2nd time taking it. First time, different instructor, failed. After doing may research on line, I decided to go to Ferrari and I have to say, it was the best thing that I could've done. First of all, let me say, Alfredo, is amazing. When I started with him, I was still nervous, so afraid that I was gonna crash, or hit someone. I was afraid of the road, I was afraid of being yelled at on the road by other drivers. But Alfredo helped me built my confidence on the road. His way of teaching is very skillful. When you find that person that you can gel with, everything just comes into place. I paid for the 20 package, and I'm so happy that I did. Alfredo's sessions are 2 or 3 sessions per appointment. Which is brilliant, because you really get more hands on learning experience than just a quick 45 minutes. Alfredo is very patient with you behind the wheel. He encourages you to do better, builds confidence and most important drive safe. You feel so comfortable when he chats with you. You end up laughing and tearing that wall of fear down the more classes taken with him. And the next thing you know, driving becomes a breeze. The road makes sense. Not a lot of drivers on the road makes sense, but you'll definitely notice the difference. When and if you decide to go to Ferrari driving school, trust me you'll be in good hands with Alfredo. This time when I took the road test, it all just made sense on the road. I was still a little nervous, but everything was a breeze. I'm so grateful for the opportunity of having such a great instructor. Who took the time out to be patient and not act like a robot, and rude and arrogant. I couldn't have dreamed of a better learn-to-drive experience. Literally, I had no good dreams about driving. It's been about 7 years since I was legally allowed to learn to drive, but I'm proud to say that I recently passed my NYC road test! I cancelled my first enrollment with Ferrari, but I joined again and got set up with Gigi as a driving instructor. I'd say waiting was definitely a blessing, because she is truly an amazing instructor and person. She is patient, comforting, encouraging, and most importantly honest about your progress. She did an excellent job of judging what I could and could not handle, pushing me enough every lesson to gain more confidence and skill, even around my most dreaded areas. Throughout my experience I always felt that she really cared not only that I passed but that I also remained a safe driver once I got my license. I passed on the first attempt, with Gigi being there every step of the way. I cannot rave enough about this lovely woman. I know she has many happy students of all ages and cultures. I would personally recommend her to anyone considering getting driving lessons. Love you Gigi! Outside of the actual driving lessons, I also went to Ferrari for the 5 hour class. Everyone, especially the lecturer, was very gracious and knowledgeable. I learned a great deal and felt much more confident continuing out on the road. At the end of the class, the owner even came and said a few words of encouragement to all of us and gave me the sense that they really prided themselves on not putting any crazy, bad, or inconsiderate drivers out on the NYC road. I am a 31 year old New Yorker who had never driven a day as I would always take mass transportation, but now older and also on my way to moving upstate it became imperative to learn how to drive and to do it before the end of 2021. My dad booked a package for me as a last bloomer gift since we never did it when I was a teen and I I took my first Ferrari driving class with Jessica Sanabria on October 6. She has been so easy, personable, fun and comfortable to work with and every time I would see her she would encourage me that I would get my license before the ball drop on New Years Eve. I took 8 classes with her and every time I got better and she helped get me confident in order to take the test. She offered to FaceTime me if I had questions when I was practicing at home and reminded me to get hours in outside of our class time as well. I took my 5 hr course with James at the school online and he was helpful as well as all of the front desk reps who would always greet me with a smile upon checking in. On the day of my test I Ubered to the test site and saw all the places Jessica and I trained and I was hopeful that all of that training would pay off and it did. I saw Jessica right after my exam as she was training another student and her asking how I think I did helped put me at ease in order to wait for my results. I had trouble logging initially into the DMV site to retrieve my results and she was even helpful in letting me know how to troubleshoot on my laptop. Training with her has been a welcomed journey. Jessica was right I got my license 15 days before the ball drop and I appreciate everything she did to train me, push me, help me and encourage me to this place. She's a great instructor! read more

I am in my mid-30s and had ZERO driving experience before the past few weeks. But I decided to move out of New York and into the real world, so it was time to get over it and get my license. I took my 5-hour class and five lessons at another highly rated driving school in Queens. However, it was a smaller school with only a few instructors, and my lessons kept getting cancelled or rescheduled, also with last-minute instructor substitutions. When my main instructor had to go out of town for a couple weeks, with my road test date 3 weeks out, it was time to find another school, and I picked Ferrari out of convenience. I was afraid of the prices based on other reviews, but they were actually a couple dollars cheaper than my first school -- although still not cheap. A 90-minute evaluation lesson is about $60, and 6 additional 45-minute lessons plus the use of their car for the road test was $300. For some people, like me, this is the only option. But if you have family or friends with a car, be nice to them so you don't have to spend as much. My instructor was Syed. Unlike the instructors at my previous school, I did not know his entire life story at the end of the first lesson. This is a good thing! It allowed me to concentrate on what I was doing, and also replicates the conditions of the road test. This is not to say he was unfriendly, however. He was also patient and, better yet, always on time for pickups. He paid attention to what I was doing wrong and offered guidance on how to correct it (another thing I didn't feel I got at the other school). I'm happy to say that I passed my road test this week, at the Astoria site! Just drive like a grandma and you will do fine too. Good luck! read more

Hi, I was enrolled at ACADEMIA DRIVING SCHOOL on 112 and Madison Ave NYC,, PLEASE BEWARE after taking 20 plus classes using the same car the day of the Road test I was given a car in poor condition that was not the same type of car I had for my 20 lessons in.I spoke to the owner of the school to complain but was told that's the way they do it if we didn't like it we could cancel the exam. I took the road test with 4 other students and all 4 of us taking the test FAILED that day and not to mention the owner Leoni Pimentel the owner is such an arrogant ignorant person that when I address the situation to him he brushed me off, so I decided to go with Ferrari Driving School and I explained to Mario from Ferrari the horrible experience that I had with the previous school so he then recommend Arturo Leon to me one of their best instructors. I took 6 lesson with Arturo went on my Road-test on 12/9/13 and passed. I just want to say that if I would of went and took my lessons with Arturo of Ferrari the very first time I feel like I would have passed because this guy is AMAZING and very Professional-on what he does. Arturo really wants to help his students and most of all cares about them. Arturo I really enjoyed all my lessons with you. you made me feel very confident in myself. With that being said that Ferrari Driving School you should definitely HIRE more people like Arturo this guy is really GREAT!!! Over the summer, I decided to learn how to drive before going away to college and the personnel at Ferrari were extremely helpful in fitting lessons into my work and school schedule. I never sat behind the wheel of a car before so Mario scheduled an assessment for me on a Saturday morning with Melford (also known as Mel) to gauge what package would best suit my needs. I was enrolled in the 20 lesson package that were 45 minutes each, but I combined them to make 10 lessons that lasted 1 1/2 hours. The package includes the lessons, a 5-hour class, two road tests (if you don't pass the first time), and the car for both road tests. I took my driving lessons with Mel and I highly recommend him. He is such a sweet, patient, funny, and kind individual and a fantastic instructor. He instilled confidence in me when I sat behind the wheel of the car and he taught me all of the skills I needed to know for the road test (turning, three-point turn, parallel parking) by my fourth lesson. We practiced driving in different neighborhoods so I could get a lot of experience driving in different settings. I took the majority of my lessons over the summer before I left for college, but I didn't have time to schedule my road test before I moved. The personnel at Ferrari were great in scheduling lessons when I came home from school on breaks. I took my road test on December 29 at Cunningham Park and had a 45-minute lesson with Mel beforehand. I passed on my first try! I highly recommend Ferrari Driving School and I am so pleased with the service I received. read more
