I wish there was a -5 star rating!! They claim that they know how important a celebration or special event is but they COMPLETELY flaked on my birthday cake order. I had hoped to do something special with a $75 cake that was sure to make a cute and funny statement. I took one hour fulfilling Claudia's request for a sketch of how I wanted the cake to look and even found images on the internet. Although I was promised a confirmation email, I never received one. I called 5 times, and never received one. Instead, both Claudia and her biz partner lied to me repeatedly about having received my order and having emailed me back. When I asked them to email me the work order again, they vowed to and never did. Today is the day the cake should have been delivered, but I was left on hold 10 minutes before the line mysteriously hung up. No call back. No explanation. NO NOTHING!!!! Now they are not even answering the phone after 5 calls from me. This is the height of unprofessionalism, poor customer service and every thing in between. You charge to much to be this shoddy and unprofessional! CLAUDIA-- If you can't make the cake, JUST SAY SO. You and your cohorts turned my "day to remember" into a total nightmare last minute shopping trip to find a mundane and meaningless gift!! I am extremely disappointed and strongly recommend that NO ONE use this service who sees this and several other disparaging reviews. Simply put Claudia was horrible. She was hired to plan my fathers wedding, and dealing with her was completely useless. She absolutely did not do a single item requested, but was more than happy to charge the visa card without informing us she was doing so. She showed up to essentially "hang out" at the wedding, which we were concerned she was not going to even attend, and then sat giggling immaturely in the lobby of the reception hall watching videos on her phone with her friend while all the guests arriving walked past her. She did not live up to any portion of the contract, and had an excuse every step of the way. Unprofessional, unacceptable, and we are looking for a refund. I contracted with Claudia many months before my wedding since I live out of state and required someone on the ground in Houston to help with wedding coordination on the day of. I had from a distance personally arranged the venue, the party favors, wedding cake etc. Claudia said I had done a lot of work and she could help tie up loose ends. Not only did she not tie up loose ends, everything I asked her help for based on her offer and our contract, she complicated and added stress to my wedding planning. Further, she had a bad habit by trying to up-sell her services and/or suggesting her preferred vendors even though I had already contracted with other vendors. For example, she wanted me to choose her preferred photographer. When she learned I had already signed a contract with another photographer, she told me that I could, and even volunteered to contact my photographer, that the wedding was canceled and this way, I could even get my deposit back. I found this unethical. So I refused this and her many other up-sell tricks, and tried to refocus her on getting what I asked her to get done. Instead, she retaliated. I told her then that the relationship wasn't working and to return my party favors and the money I had paid her in full. Not only did she refuse to return my money for work she had never done, she said since it was one month to my wedding date, I was contractually bound to pay her. To exacerbate matters, she sent me threatening emails saying that she would charge me extra for storage of the party favors @$25/day (storage was not even part of the contractual agreement). It was now almost 1.5-2 weeks to the wedding day. Claudia then arranged for my approx. 80 year-old relatives to retrieve the party favors. I had to send her a notarized authorization to this effect. But when my relatives went to pick up the party favors, she tried to illegally and unethically force them to sign a document releasing my rights to sue her. She would only return me the party favors and possibly my money if I released my right to sue her in court. My relatives called the police and refused to sign the document. Thereafter, Claudia sent more threatening emails and said if I didn't pick up the party favors personally, I would be waiving my rights and claims to my party favors and money that I had paid her. Again, this is illegal and unethical. Now I understand why the Better Business Bureau rated her an F. My new wedding coordinator who was a dream confirmed that Claudia did not do anything that was on our task list and other vendors also confirmed that her suggestions were poorly conceived and unprofessional. In short, everyone was relieved she was not at the helm any longer. As time was of the essence, at greater expense, I reordered my party favors and a wonderful new wedding coordinator at short notice. The wedding coordinator even charged me way less than Claudia since I didn't have a lot for her to do and is well respected in the Jewish community. I would recommend that brides out there find someone recommended by a friend, not just base your decision on many internet reviews. Final recommendations: Ask for 5 references from your wedding coordinator whom you can call and speak with. Check with the Better Business Bureau, always. Check your wedding coordinator's financial profile. If the city is suing your wedding coordinator for property taxes, you know something is wrong. If your wedding coordinator suddenly has an emergency during the week and fails to contact you with even a brief text and still works all her other events that entire week and the weekend, you are probably right that she doesn't really care about what's going on with your wedding and if you can, move on and find someone else. I am still so upset about this cake that almost two years later I still feel compelled to write a review and let other potential customers know what they are dealing with. Also research them with The Better Business Bureau. Claudia from A Day to Remember made my then fiance a Rubik Cube cake for his birthday. It was an awesome cake; I wish I could say the same for my WEDDING cake! The cake was made very sloppy and it looked like it had been knocked around in its box. The fondant ribbon around the three tiers of the cake were all DIFFERENT shades of red and weren't on straight. As if that was not enough the groom's cake was not the flavor that we asked and paid for! After the wedding I called and told her about it, she asked to see pictures of the cake; she said if they were not up to par she'd refund me some money. I sent her the pictures she has never replied nor did she ever return my calls. I had two bridal showers; both of those cakes were by far superior to my actual wedding cake. I hired Claudia for full service wedding planning. She took a deposit of half her overall fee, and did absolutely nothing to earn it. She was slow, made up excuses, LIED, and caused me and my fiance much grief. Everything you do NOT want to feel while planning your wedding. The only thing she did was finalize my venue contract which was mostly complete before I hired her, and make cake and dress appointments which I could not use because she didn't book the ones I asked for. Then she stopped returning my calls and emails. I even had to threaten to sue her for my deposit to get any response from her. In the end, she gave me half back, but still kept almost 700 dollars to herself. I was just too tired and fed up to ask for anything more, but she didn't earn a penny. She even charged me to mail my refund check with a tracking number.
