So first there should be an option for ten star because Reaba deserves that. This was by and far…read morethe most amazing experience my dog Smokey and I have had. First, this happened to fall the weekend of Hurricane Michael when everyone lost power including Reaba. It was very last minute as my trip plans changed and I had to leave earlier than expected and could not reach the place originally scheduled for my dog. I quickly search engines somewhere and Reaba popped up and I called explained my situation and though slightly off her normal stipulations she agreed to help me. Of course none of us expected the storm at this point as it was Thursday. We left, and I am always super apprehensive leaving Smokey bc he was a rescue and I always worry he thinks I am abandoning him. Well storm hits and sure enough Reaba lost power the entire time I was gone as did everyone here in Saxapahaw. When we returned Sunday we weren't sure what we would return to at our house so Reaba was gracious enough to offer if we needed to pick him up the next day that was fine. Fortunately we did not. We picked up Smoky and I was expecting the usual, my dog to be anxiously waiting for me jumping up to see me , jumping in my car, jumping and running. What I got was similar to a mopey child being picked up by mom to early I seriously could not believe it. My dog did not want to leave!! My dog came home with more manners, quieter, more well trained than I sent him!!! I am still in disbelief!!! I cannot reccommend NO BARKING BACK enough!!!! Honestly!!! I feel like my dog has made friends with Rebea's kids and can't wait to visit again! Even if you live in G'boro or Mebane it's worth the distance for the complete TLC your dog will get from Reaba will give to your furry family member -kerri D

I am writing to add critical details to my previous concerns regarding the treatment my dog and I…read morereceived at your facility, specifically under Kristen's supervision. After bringing my dog home, I was awakened in the middle of the night to find him lethargic, coughing, and refusing both food and water. These symptoms were frightening and heartbreaking to witness. It was only afterward that Kristen admitted other dogs at the lodge had kennel cough. She also stated that pet parents do not have to be notified of an outbreak. This is unacceptable. I referenced COVID‑19 during our conversation to highlight how dangerous airborne illnesses can be, especially when transparency is withheld. While kennel cough is not the same as COVID, it can still be deadly, and responsible facilities should treat any outbreak with seriousness and urgency. I also made clear that I understand how vaccines work--both in humans and animals. Kennel cough vaccines, like human vaccines, vary in strain coverage and are designed to reduce severity, not guarantee immunity. This makes communication even more essential. Pet parents deserve to know when their animals have been exposed to contagious illnesses. Instead of providing clarity, Kristen continued to dismiss my concerns. She failed to explain why my dog was isolated, whether he was separated due to possible kennel cough or pack behavior, and why staff were pushing him off another dog. Her tone remained condescending, and she again minimized my educational background by telling me to "put that aside" because it "wasn't important now." When I calmly stated that her tone felt rude, she accused me of being rude. I reiterated that my tone had no inflection of disrespect. I requested to speak with someone else, and she claimed she was "at the top" and would send an email with further information. She never did. Instead, she hung up on me. My dog's health was compromised, and I was denied basic information, respect, and transparency. This is not only unprofessional--it is dangerous. I expect a full explanation of the kennel cough outbreak, your notification policies, and the specific circumstances surrounding my dog's isolation and treatment. I also expect a review of Kristen's conduct and communication practices. I look forward to your prompt and thorough response. Sincerely, Lakisha

I wanted to ensure that everything was covered, and boy did Andrea come through! Over the course of 8 sessions, she took my rebellious pooch and turned her into a proper princess. Andrea has an abundance of knowledge and was always willing to help any way she could. From checking in, answering questions, and referring us to additional training videos an aids between sessions, to recommending treats that would help in the process, to being very flexible in scheduling sessions; I couldn't have asked for a better experience for me and my pup. Without hesitation, I will be bringing any future pups of mine to her a well as referring any new pet parents I may know. Thanks again Andrea and Bark to Basics!

Background, we adopted a 6 year old basset hound with a some serious issues, including separation anxiety, not house broken and fear of men. He was quite afraid of me, had trust issues, and got really stressed when my gf wasn't around. I was frankly nearing my wit's end before we got referred to Melissa. In only a few sessions I really felt equipped with the necessary tools to make progress with my dog, despite being a notorious breed. There are no magic tricks, it took time, and we still have work to do, but Melissa kept us honest and consistent with the training, modifying it as needed. We felt we were an extreme case and in only a few months we've seen a remarkable improvement in his comfort level around me (stops shaking when I come near him!), and he doesn't freak out nearly as much when left home alone. She was also extremely flexible with our schedules and after each session provided great detailed notes we constantly referred to. Bark to Basics can do wonders for you and your furry friend! Can't recommend enough.
