I struggled with whether to say something or not, but the comment "I didn't charge you enough..."…read moreis just ringing in my head. I hired Myrtle Carter and her business MCarter designs to decorate my sister's baby shower, and I am extremely disappointed in the way it turned out. Initially she charged me a $200 booking fee that didn't not go towards the $1,500.00 price she requested. The event was 7/11 and we had a conversation 6/2 about cutting the initial $1,500 budget to $1,000.00. She agreed to this budget and made several promises she did not keep. My balance was paid in full by 6/30 please see pictures below. We met at the venue 7/2 for a walk through and she did a rough draft of all she could do with the $1,000.00 budget. I have attached a picture of that and everything that is circled in blue had to be forced out of her the day of, 20 mins before the event, and her response was, "Well we cut the budget..." She didn't bring the 4ft table for games, short cocktail table for my sister and her husband to sit at, and no table for gifts, UNTIL I complained to her about that 20 mins till event start time. The things circled in RED I didn't receive at all. Instead of the blueberry tree/floral arrangement she was supposed to put on the center table between the round tables she put a 2 foot sign that I hat to purchase separately!!! I never got a welcome sign for the back door, and the one welcome sign I did get I paid for separately as well!!! The tables also didn't have any flowers on them, just water with one or two stems of blue beads... She had ONE backdrop with 4ft balloons from an Amazon order that was $12.99, which included 172 pieces...not sure where those other balloons went. Pictured below, and mind you my sister is 4'11 and her husband is 5'10, they BOTH COVERED THIS display in pictures... I did inform her about all this after the event because she was finishing up when my sister and her husband walked in... and that is when she asked if I liked everything. My only mistake was not addressing it then, and apparently thanking her "team" for helping do SOMETHING. It just wasn't the time or place to address that but now I'm mad I didn't, per her response below. I am thankful for the minor decor we received because if not I would have had absolutely nothing! The week of the event she called me complaining about the cost of pressing linen, and how she went overboard with purchasing fake flowers...this woman asked for more money more times than I can count. I'm so glad I didn't give in because I feel the end result would have been the same. She was HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL FOR THIS! & like I said I didn't see any flowers outside of this backdrop a runner on the treat table, and the table my sister and her husband sat at! The linen was also wrinkled. All in all this woman knows she didn't give me what was promised...& I just think you all should know about it. If you book her just expect it to be thrown together. I get so pissed when I look at our pictures and it shouldn't be like this!!

I filled out the online request form and was sent a bid back. I responded but never heard anything…read moreback so a few days later i emailed to confirm we were set. Later that day i got another bid, with the same price, but a follow up to make payment. The day of the event, i had not been contacted by anyone to confirm that someone was actually coming so we just hoped they were. Luckily they showed up 30 minutes prior as it was stated and i thought we would be great. I had asked for a 7:30-10:30 time slot and was what i paid for previously. Towards the end of the night, I made a round telling guests it was last call and to get their final drinks if they wanted. A guest at the event asked how much we would have to pay for him to stay another hour. He didn't ever say an amount but when the guest handed him a $100.00 bill, he said he would stay. About 30 minutes into this, I went to him and thanked him while also giving him a $100.00 tip. At about 11:30 he came up to me and said that he was about to be taking off. I thanked him again and everything seemed great. He then asked me how he got payment and that I was suppose to pay him on site for the service. This is after he had been tipped by myself and the extra $100.00 for the extra hour. I let him know that i had given my credit card info to the company and they should be paying him. He gave me his cell number and email before leaving. The following week i noticed on my card statement that i had been charged $82.24 over what my bid was. I called twice and left a voicemail and also emailed. About 3 hours later, i received an email with an updated invoice charging me for overtime. I immediately called and got no answer but left a voicemail. The following day i called and emailed with no answer. The next day i called and let them know, on voicemail, that i would be contesting the charge with my bank. Later that night i finally got my first phone call through this whole thing from the company. I told them what had happened and was informed that the bartender is responsible for calling and seeing if extra hours would be approved and no cash should be exchanged. Also that they should not have asked me for payment while there. i was told that they needed to speak with a supervisor and would get back to me. Two days later i got a call back saying that they would be refunding me the difference and would speak with the bartender about procedure. eleven days later i still haven't gotten a refund and all communication has stopped. I realize its not a lot of money but everything that has happened just seemed a little shady and the lack of any phone communication didn't help this.

I had a lot of ideas and she helped me pick and choose which ones would make my event stand out yet stay in my budget. Overall it was a great experience and I didn't have to worry about one thing on my wedding day. She even brought me and my HUSBAND our dinner to the sweetheart table so we could just sit down and eat while my guests were served. Thank you so much for the most memorable wedding ever!
