We'd been thinking we would have to replace the fence sometime soon when Mother Nature decided that 'soon' was actually 'now.' With our neighbors being the cool kids they are, we weren't pushed for time. We got some bids, waited for dry weather, and, when we were finally in the same country at the same time, moved forward with the best bid: A Frame Home Services. Gene was great. He worked with me and my lumberjack through some contract changes, accommodated my neighbors' want of an extended fence and gate, and got his crew in and out in less than 2 days. There were no surprise price increases and removal of the old fence was included. He's got other services like room venting and tree trimming, which brought my neighbor untold amounts of joy. The day the work was done I went to the yard to admire his crew's handiwork. Also to admire the chickens. My neighbors' chickens. The ones running around my yard aimlessly looking for a coop that I didn't have. My neighbor and his son came by to throw them back to their side of the new fence, and then we spent an hour chasing the last stubborn one around the bamboo in the back. Forewarning in this review, Gene is the master at arguing and treating people like dirt. he will probably respond here in some sort of a tacky way pushing everything back on the customer. Because that's his style of customer service. So this company is a nightmare. First, the forgot what time they were supposed to come to my house for a quote. secind, they forgot to send me the quote and I had to reach back out to them for it. Third, they sent me an estimate and then tried to charge me something else. when I questioned this, they said they did the math wrong. But no one bothered to tell me this before asking for more money. So I agreed to pay it and go with their days just to have an email refunding me claiming since I post bad reviews on yelp (isn't that what yelp is for?) and I wanted to argue over price they don't think I'll ever be happy. I had these guys come out to finish my house that I was building. Their reviews were great on here. They bid it and I thought it was a fair price for all of the work that needed to be done. They asked for $15,500 up front and $15,500 at sheetrock and $6,500 at completion of work. To make a very long story short. They took forever to get things done. I would go weeks without hearing from them and then they would lie and tell me they fixed everything (so we could pass our inspections) when they hadn't. I have racked up over $1,100 in re-inspection fees from the City of Austin thanks to them. After all of that I get an email from them tell me that it is in their best interest and my best interest that they stop working on my house and terminate our contract (after I paid them 15,500 just 2-3 weeks before for sheetrock, which they didn't finish). They have cost me an endless amount of money. Easily $20,000. OVERALL: A Frame Home Services is, based on my experience, a lying, deceitful, money grubbing company that turns everything back on you saying "It's all your fault! We are not in the wrong." Stay away from these guys at all cost. read more

Notably, though you have apparently talked to Mr. Gross, you offered no explanation as to why he never called and, even after I called, he never sent the promised quote. I wrote my first review too soon. The gentleman than came out Saturday was nice and fast. I was told a master plumber would be in touch to come out Monday morning and I agreed to be available. Nobody called Saturday or Sunday to confirm a time. I waited around all day Monday and still nobody called or showed up. I called in the afternoon to check in, but nobody answered. I filled out the contact form as suggested by the phone recording, but no response. I haven't heard one peep from anybody at all since then. There are absolutely some kinks in the line of communication that need to be worked out. I'm more upset about not getting a response at all than I am about nobody showing on Monday. Seriously, call/email/text me and give me any excuse. That's better than nothing at all. read more

He gave me like a million tips for other projects as well, from painting to gardening. Super nice guy. A Frame put in a concrete floor for us in our garden room this past spring. I was overall very happy with the quality of the work and service we received. If I could give a four-and-a-half stars, I would. The floor looked and continues to look fantastic. I worked primarily with Joe Goss and the subcontractor for the project, Calen Gabriel. Joe and Calen both had full access to our home at various times and I felt entirely comfortable with that situation. As the guy laying the floor, Calen was there most often and I found him extremely responsive, professional, and pleasant to work with. That's important with a process involving staining concrete, as the cure time for the overlayment and process of building up the color easily means a multi-day project. We hope to have A Frame do additional floors in the house and hope that Calen will be the subcontractor again. Joe was A Frame's project lead and the one who did the finishing work such as painting and installing additional molding to cover the small gap between the new (slightly lower) concrete floor and the existing molding. Joe's work was quick and good and he, too, was professional and pleasant to work with. Overall, Joe was responsive, but the reason I am not giving five stars is that after the concrete was done (and after I had given the remainder of the payment), I felt like I had to chase him a bit to return my emails and get the final bits of work done so we could really put the house back together. Joe explained that he was very busy at the time. I believe the explanation and everything turned out satisfactorily . But it can unsettling to the customer to have paid one's money and then have to start nagging to get the project completed--even if everyone has the best of intentions. It think it would serve A Frame well as they deservedly get more business to bear that in mind and staff up accordingly. That said, I would be happy to work with Joe and Gene and A Frame again. read more

I highly recommend these folks! My house was recently broken into and I was left with a broken window. After reading reviews on Yelp I decided to call A Frame. I'm very glad I did. Gene and Joe were so incredibly helpful. It turned out that I had to have the entire window replaced and it was a special order size that would take some time to be made, so they came out over the weekend and boarded up my window for me until the replacement came in. They kept in touch with me while waiting for the window to be finished and as soon as it was ready, Joe came and installed it in record time. Then, I discovered that one of the trees in my backyard was rotting and making an awful creaking noise. I was really worried that it would break and fall on my neighbor's house or property. After calling a few arborists and either not getting called back or being told that it would take weeks before they could come out, I remembered that Gene had said that they can do just about everything so I gave them a call about the tree removal. Now, thanks to A Frame, I have gained a new window and lost a rotten tree. They did a great job on both occasions, were reasonably priced, and came out when they said they would. I really couldn't have hoped for more and will definitely keep their number handy should anything else come up! read more

I cannot recommend A Frame enough. I was leveling and area for an unground pool. Well, my back yard has a significant slope and I had no idea what I was doing. Gene came out, gave me some suggestions and quoted me a reasonable price. He did what he was supposed to do, but went above and beyond. He fortified the leveled area to ensure the weight of the pool would not be an issue after it rains. He also noticed I was doing some landscaping improvements in my front yard. He brought over some things he was removing from another job and helped my yard look even better. A-Frame looks at your house as an advertisement for their business. I found this company on Yelp and hired them immediately. I was extremely happy at first just like all the other reviewers. One of the employees came and did work at our home and impressed us initially. The job started off great and then went down hill fast. I found out that we truly got what we paid for. They started out treating us like important valued customers. Once we put the deposit down, we started noticing a difference in the level of service. Our needs were put on the back burner. Yelp is great because it has gotten A Frame alot of business. But also, they are now far too busy and that results in poor customer service and follow up. Multiple balls were dropped over the course of a month. I could fill an entire page of with different things that happened and how poorly we were treated but suffice it to say, I will never work with A Frame again. I never write yelp reviews but I had to in this case, to save you the trouble I encountered. This saddens me because they are competitively priced and things started out so well. But soon it became clear how this company runs their business. The last straw was when one of the contractors was extremely rude and angry on the phone with me. He directed his anger at one of his subcontractors toward me. I am extremely patient with people's behavior, but this was unacceptable. It was almost impossible getting in touch with anyone and it took 3x as long as we were originally promised that the job would take. The saddest part is, I had already recommended A Frame to my family and friends who would've spent tens of thousands with them on house projects. I had to call each of them back and take back that recommendation. The work was finally completed, but we have never been treated like this before by any company we have hired. They are far too busy with not enough help. We have lots more work we want done and I will be choosing a different company that is dedicated to excellence, customer service and effective communication. read more

I've just met with Joe and Gene about a third, bigger job that needs to be done - a retaining wall, cutting down a tree, replacement windows and door, new privacy fencing and landscaping. The first two jobs were completely very nicely and in great time. The removal of an in-wall dog door was a piece of cake and you can't tell from where on the textured wall the door was removed. I feel very conflicted about A Frame Home Services. This review would most certainly be lower had it not been for the customer service that Joe provided. The communication was great ...as long as I dealt with Joe. The initial price estimate was great ...but the final cost was about 20% over-budget. My small project included moving a small wall, removing bathroom tile, and texturing said wall ...but not painting of the wall nor finishing the flooring underneath the removed bathroom tile, an incorrect assumption on my part. The work completed was great ...except they made an absolute mess, left behind demolition debris, and the ceiling fan was no longer working. ...which was mostly resolved by Joe who cleaned the mess as best he could, removed the debris, and fixed the ceiling fan himself. To their credit they did start and finish the job on time. They also had complete access to my home and were always careful to lock up on the way out. read more
