If I could give 10 stars, I would. My 16 year old daughter had her nose job over the summer. I wanted to wait until all the swelling was down before giving a review. It's absolutely beautiful. She is so happy with her new nose and she is nearly impossible to please. This doctor is a true artist. His staff is also second to none. So kind and so knowledgeable. The last thing I want to mention is that we live in Philly. There are plenty of doctors here but none like Dr Zimm. He was more expensive but well worth it. I have seen people get reconstructive surgery with an initial bad job and didn't want to get into that situation with my teenage daughter. When I was first informed that I needed Septoplasy , I was very reluctatnt to go for any surgery, Dr. Zimm was recommended by my allergist. I being a very pariticualar about the doctors I see. I proceded to get several referrals form various sources. We went for several consultations before deciding to proceed with Dr. Zimm. I had the surgery about 12 days ago. I can honestly say that the most painful part was placing the IV line in my hand which was actually almost painless Dr Tannenbaum the anesthesiologist did it in himself. I went out and woke feeling rather good. I actually never took any pain medication and experienced less bleeding than cutting myself shaving. I went back 7 days after the operation to have the splints removed which again was painless and my breathing has been great. Dr Zimm's staff is professional and they manage the schedule very efficiently, you won't be waiting around !! I had the procedure at Manhattan Eye and Ear. I was considering using a surgeon that had his own private facility because I'm not the hospital/Clinic kind of guy. I did have a good experience at the hospital. I had wanted a rhinoplasty for a long time and wanted it to have it done once and done well. I am a year out now and I have a bump on one side of my nose and my nose holes are completely different size and the middle part of the nose that connects the nose to the face looks deformed. Mind you this was a 15K surgery. Dr.Zimm also noticed these abnormalities and yet I was told that to fix it I would still have to pay an additional 5K for facilities. I don't have that kind of money. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Zimm and all his staff. From start to finish, my experiences at his office have been overwhelmingly positive. For the past year or so I've been getting dermal filler injections to improve the appearance of my very recessed chin. While ultimately I plan to go a more permanent route with my chin augmentation, Im juggling a new job and a busy work schedule right now, so the ease and convenience of having injectable fillers has been fantastic. However, after recently moving to NY, I was hesitant to find a new plastic surgeon because I really loved the doctor I used in the MD/DC area. I booked a few consultations with other doctors in NY, but was ultimately not "sold" on any of them-- their offices were uninviting, their bedside manner did not make me comfortable, and many interactions felt rushed. My X worked for a plastic surgeon once, and she was treated like a utensil. But here, the staff and his professionally keen and comforting PA are exceptional. No upscale fake or supercilious smiles; they are genuinely happy to be there, and their concern, consideration, and geniality are disarming and constantly reassuring. Dr. Zimm, himself, is straight forward, honest, and personally engaged every moment he spends with you. I went to see him for a rhinoplasty and chin implant - but I was 58. It said a lot to me that he was originally apprehensive. I could tell he wasn't going to accept me till he truly understood my long and involved theatrical background and the why behind my "why now." I needed to improve my look for the camera, but not look "different." What a great job he did! And when the nose was first revealed, I swear to God, he was more proud than my agent after landing a top credit job. Its rare in life that you can look back on a single decision as genuinely transformative, good or otherwise. Dr. Zimm was that for me, in the best possible way. After years of feeling like my nasal passages were always swollen, years of struggling to breathe through my nose, years of a chronic sore throat and constant choking on ... whatever was draining from my sinuses down my throat ... years of ENT doctor after ENT, allergist after allergist, none of whom helped.... I finally took another look online. I came across Dr. Zimm, and am so glad I did. He listened. He was thorough and careful. But-- and crucial for anyone who's ever suffered from chronic sinus problems and years of ineffective allergy treatments -- Dr Zimm didn't dally. He was willing to progress my case as soon as it became clear that my issues were structural and surgery made sense. The surgery itself and recovery were exactly as he explained them. A+ all around! I finally decided to start the process of trying to resolve my long established snoring/breathing issues. From the beginning Jennifer was so accommodating with the scheduling and Dr. Zimm was so nice, thorough and honest. He gave me a very detailed, thorough exam and talked about my non-invasive and invasive (surgical options). Despite me wanting to explore non-surgical options first, they still helped coordinate my sleep study at an outside facility (which Heather the PA called to discuss with me once the results were in) and even referred me out to another MD to take care of a few other concerns they don't directly treat at their facility. If both Beyoncé and Dr. Zimm's lives were in danger and I could save only one, this would be my worst nightmare as a superfan. Before I met Dr. Zimm, my nightmare was the embarrassment I felt over my fractured nose and my fear of addressing it. I lived a long, bad dream about not recognizing my own face in the mirror each morning. There are certainly bigger problems to have. My face was never perfect. It was goofy and cute because it was uniquely mine, given to me by my mom and dad. I wanted to see it again and I wanted to put the daily memory of a painful accident behind me. Dr. Zimm's office was a safe place for me to say this out loud and to explore the fact that I was never breathing as well as I could have in the first place. Dr. Zimm heard me and he met me on my level. Not only did he demonstrate that he is an incredibly knowledgeable physician and skilled surgeon but he has an exceptional talent for reading a room and reading a patient. I knew he'd engage as much or as little as I wanted to at every turn and he would genuinely prefer the former. He made it very clear that we'd develop the plan together. The conversation was always two-sided. It's safe to say that most people remember a time when they felt condescended to by a doctor- especially a surgeon. And why shouldn't they? What a physician goes through to become a surgeon and the risks he takes every day are not things just anyone can do. A surgeon has to first keep a patient safe and then perform nothing short of a miracle while navigating facilities, anesthesiologists, a ticking clock and any number of unexpected challenges. And then we ask him to go a step further and make the experience like a trip to Disney. Dr. Zimm did that and more. There was never a hint of condescension- just a fabulous doctor telling me what I needed to know and empowering me to make my best decision. I was amazed that I felt as if Dr. Zimm and his team had all of the time in the world for me when he was regularly in surgery, consultations, planning meetings and the like. He was somehow always available in seconds for a text or a call. He even takes care to squeeze a hand or wipe a tear, a very necessary part of making a patient feel safe- so often left to a nurse! Frankly, I was terrified in the beginning. The more I spoke to Dr. Zimm, the more it became just so easy to trust him. In hindsight, I want to laugh at how frightened I was. While it's important to remember that doctors are human beings, I wondered if Dr. Zimm was in fact perfect, like a hybrid of Superman, Batman, Beyoncé, Madea, Moses and anyone who might be your personal hero. If he is in fact Batman, then the person he works for, Jennifer Plasencia, is the wind beneath his wings. He answered all my questions and was available to me after the surgery with questions about medications and he healing process.
