after many many assurances of their being a four-generation, five-star, white-glove service - hence the expense - they did a slap-dash job of packing things, damaged valuable things in transit as a result, and did a hard push-back on taking any responsibility for it: aka, it must have been pre-existing, or something I did. they would only offer to repair or restore with their own services, when they offered restitution. why would I re-entrust things to them, when they'd damaged them in the first place? I cut bait, regretted the whole incident, and at further expense, had the damage dealt with by my own professionals. the crew was friendly, easy to deal with. the net results of the move were daunting and depressing, as much of what happened was easily avoidable, if the superb care they promised had actually been shown to my possessions. my 'suggestion' - give them a wide berth and look elsewhere. read more

Most professional movers I ever used. Great team, friendly and fast. They take apart your furniture and put it back as if they know every nut & bolt used by the original makers. Not the cheapest, but excellent value in the care and peace of mind you get from them. And we had they pack as well - - - picked our entire house in one day ! Really bad moving service. Firstly, they got a small truck and two guys. They were supposed to finish the shifting in three hours and took six hours. One of the guys was not even alert. It seemed like he was unwell or on something. I am not very sure but he was super slow. My husband had to help them out in loading and unloading the stuff. We have used movers earlier and never have we had such a bad experience with any of them. Secondly the guy kept complaining about the stuff. Very very unprofessional moving company. read more

Dennis and Terry did a great job of moving my very heavy (but still fragile) antique cabinet. They arrived on time and wrapped it beautifully with several blankets and cardboard to avoid damage to the glass doors. They were super careful going up and several sets of stairs and didn't so much as knick a wall or door frame. We used Morris this week for one of our family members who was moving from our house in MV to an apartment in Manhattan (a 6th floor walk-up no less!) and needed a mover. I'd found them literally by noticing their truck and staff doing a move on Columbus Ave on the UWS one day and was impressed by their seeming professionalism and the fact that I lived in MV and noticed the MV address on the side of the truck. I was waiting for a friend whom I'd taken to the vet and so had time to observe the loading/unloading activity. Knowing my "kid" was going to need a mover in about a month, I took a picture of their van. When the time came to move, we called, they gave an estimate, we accepted and additionally opted to purchase insurance. The move was perfect. We were fully ready with furniture and boxes staged in our garage where it had been stored during the pandemic (and it's one person for a small apartment, so not a lot of furniture) and the whole move was done in under 3 hours--from house in MV to UES 6 floor walk-up. The crew was fantastic and friendly. Couldn't be happier. This is a professional moving service/company. It will cost more than renting a Uhaul and hiring a couple of random people, but in this case you get what you pay for... And I can add that having had to move on the cheap by ourselves in the past, now that I can afford a proper mover, I'm even more grateful. The "get what you pay for" also includes crew/staff who are professionals and appropriately paid. That's why it costs more. read more

If you have a storage unit, don't contact this company. They shoved stuff into the unit and not being responsive. Turned fridge on it's side and packed it this way. No customer service and not professional. Showed up 3 times with packing supplies and now telling us we were scammed by another company. So face and person was impersonated. As an adult who has moved numerous times, I can safely say these movers are THE BEST. Morris Movers operated with integrity, reliability, and the utmost care for me and my belongings. From my first call into them to get a quote right through my move-in, they demonstrated professionalism. I even got a call several days afterward to discuss the service. Now, I will tell you that their quote may come in as average or above average in price. That said, they do not end up being expensive--as your piece of mind, your belongings, and the team you work with on getting settled in the new place wont let you down. In the past, my movers have been delayed arriving and delivering, broken items, lost things, or abandoned me when a challenge was encountered, which all bring up the cost of the move. On that note, Morris movers doesn't quote you a price in the beginning then give you a different higher quote/bill at the end of the move. You can trust these guys. I am not one who typically writes reviews, but Mr. Jacob (owner) left such a bad taste after our 5 minute phone conversation that I felt obligated to warn potential customers of the horrific customer service I experienced. I called this company to schedule an appointment for them to come to my home for a residential move quote. I had previously done my due diligence and researched accredited BBB moving companies. During our phone conversation, Mr. Jacob under the guise of "being transparent" was to be quite frank an obnoxious a-hole. He said that individuals who find his company via the internet or the BBB (such as I did) instead of "word of mouth" expect a certain price point and that his company is the "Rolls Royce" of movers. Thus, his quotes are higher or "double" than other moving companies. I honestly could not believe what I was hearing. It is unfortunate, that a company with so many years in the moving business and an established reputation would behave so unprofessionally and have such impersonal interactions. If this is how Mr. Jacob conducts business and speaks to potential clients NO THANK YOU! read more

I am still speechless of how amazing my moving experience was with Morris Moving & Storage! After another moving company canceled on my family two days before we were moving from our Bronx apartment to our first home in Westchester, I scrambled and called Morris by chance! I talked to Larry and told him of our situation. At this moment Larry heard I was desperate, and could have taken advantage and charged way more, but he didn't! I was given a more than fair quote (it was actually lower than the previous company's quote that had canceled) and received service that went beyond! They were on time, wrapped and secured all our pieces, worked hard and fast while being careful not to mishandle anything! Mitchell, one of the movers, was extremely friendly and professional. He made moving during this extreamly stressful time fell more like doing a chore or task with your buddies! My broker referred us to Morris Moving (and another company). Both were responsive to my online inquiries. What set Morris apart was that Jacob, the owner, called me and answered some of my questions for our move. We hadn't moved in over ten years. We had to move our furniture over 2 hours from our old house. He explained that although they are a bit pricier that the care and professionalism of their long term employees would be apparent too. The entire team, led by Mr. Ferguson, was upbeat, careful and took care of all our items, including disasembling them and wrapping them in mats. When they unloaded the next day, I noticed that they had labeled some of the rolled up carpets to help us identify them. They joked, sang, and just were positive and upbeat. No cursing. Called Morris (yes, morris picked up the phone) when our cross country move stalled on our deck with large couch not fitting through the door. He sent 2 guys to our home in Rye. They skillfully dismantled the bay window frame, scooted the sofa inside and put the window frame back together like new. It was a snowy January 2011 day so this saved our couch. I hate moving with a passion - it stresses me out and fills me with so much anxiety and it's always a terrible, miserable experience. But I had such the opposite experience with Morris that I felt compelled to write a review in hopes of saving a little sanity for other people. Jacob is the MAN - he couldn't be more accommodating, communicative, straightforward, kind, and professional. And I don't even know where to start with the guys that moved us - they smiled, they hustled, they were so helpful. There was nothing we asked that ever got an eye roll, a sigh, anything but an "absolutely" and a smile (and i can be a pain in the neck) - and we moved into a house with a terrible rocky long staircase to even get to the house. They also took such good care of our stuff. This move didn't stress me out at all, and that's 100% due to these guys. I'll never use anyone else! read more

This was my 3rd move with Morris Moving ... I am disgusted. I was given 2 options: first a very high cost to have a move in 3 days from NYC to Chicago, second a slower option for 2/3rd the cost and it would be "7-10 days" ... so kind of annoying, but worth saving a few thousand dollars. On day 7, Morris called and emailed saying would probably be day 10 or 11 he'll confirm after the weekend. On day 11 was told ... no its going to be day 21 - "too bad, its out of my control". Of course, I complained and Morris refused to return emails and certainly refused to compensate me for the MAJOR inconvenience and additional costs. The actual move day was 21st day and then the real nightmare service got WORSE. Despite having a fairly large amount of furniture and items they only send 2 guys ... who were completely inexperienced ... 14 hours later I had my stuff but only 2/3rds of the furniture was reassembled - several pieces damaged. So that took me an an additional day to re-assemble and final assemble my furniture. Disputed several with my credit card company and Morris agreed to partial refund .. end of story right. WRONG ... turns out the verbal agreement Morris made with my CC company is unenforceable and so I've never received the partial refund they agreed to. Stating the obvious ... I've never heard from Morris (phone or email). AVOID AT ALL COST read more

Morris deserves 10 Stars. I moved many times in my years and never once have I ever been able to say that nothing was damaged. EXCEPT this time. Not a scratch, chip or dent in any of my furniture. Not only that but moving into a co-op or condo, there is a building damage deposit fee for any damages whether small or large. We got back our total deposit. Morris' guys were absolutely amazing. I don't know how they did it, but getting my large armoires into a 6' high elevator couldn't have been done by Houdini, Blair or Copperfield. But Morris' guys did it and nothing was carried up the stairs. Amazing? Yes, but true. My husband was an inspector for 40 years and observant to a fault. Even he couldn't believe it. No damage to the furniture or the building. They were professional and respectful at all times. They worked like an assembly line, before we knew it everything was in our apartment and placed were we wanted everything. Our floors were refinished prior to our move but we didn't have a concern. The guys covered every inch of our floor and the floor leading from the elevator to our apartment. My husband and I would pay top dollar to Morris even if we needed to move one small piece of furniture. Trustworthy, honest, professional and courteous. A truly amazing company. read more
