Well, if you like confirming your reservation for Sunday a month prior and then being updated on Thursday 10:30pm that you never actually made a reservation, go ahead and book Art for your move. For everyone else that likes to book a mover and actually know that you're booked I think you better look elsewhere. What happened? I spoke with the mover on the phone and by email, a day or 2 later I had a conversation on the phone where it was understood (by me, at least) that we are booking and it is final. Art told me on the phone call where we were confirming the move that I can send him an email confirming which I sent, to which Art replied "Yes I'm confirming that we can provide your moving service..." and at the end he writes "Please confirm?", now I missed this last 2 words of the email and i understood that we confirmed on the phone, I confirmed with an email, and he replied confirming, GREAT! how many freaking confirmations could you possibly want to book a service. So now comes Thursday and I get this email "Just letting you know you're not scheduled for this Sunday since we've not heard from you", and apparently he's now not available either. I speculate that he got another job, a bigger job and he didn't want to do us anymore. Regardless of speculation, the fact is Art is not great at communication. Art, at least it was before moving day that you let me know I'm not booked but it doesn't earn you more stars. I got a U-Haul instead, took the stuff to the dump myself on Friday, and hired 2 guys to help me on Sunday. :) read more

I was really nervous. It was my first time hiring a moving company. I didn't know what to expect and so many other companies were overwhelming me with questions that I didn't know how to answer. Art was extremely kind during the whole set up and helped guide me through it. Moving day was even better. They did under quote me which is probably my fault lol. So they asked if I would be ok with raising the price by $100. To be honest though, it was worth every dollar. They did so much work and helped me so much. We have moved numerous times with A&T Moving. Never had an issue until our move to Florida. The truck was too small and they pushed everything into the truck. Took our clothes out of the wardrobes and put in plastic bags. That was the least of the damage that was caused! China was broken into very small pieces. The china was my husbands families heirlooms. Wicker outdoor furniture busted into pieces. Pictures were taken spoke with Art whose response was he called his insurance carrier and they would not compensate! In actuality I doubt he has insurance! i have a service business and do everything I can to make my customers/clients happy. Art actually called us for a referral but since he wasn't able to resolve our issues, I stated I could not in good conscience do that. He used to have a great team but no more! Since his responses have been he doesn't remember speaking to the customer I will say I am writing this review under a different name!! read more

The crew arrived on time and almost immediately began to complain that there was a lot of stuff to move. I have a beautiful new WHITE couch that could only be removed from the 2nd floor apartment through the slider onto the deck and then down to the ground. THEY DID NOT WRAP THE COUCH and sent it over the railing causing a mark down the entire front of the couch and left two very small holes. I immediately called Art (crying) and he instructed the crew to wrap all the rest of my furniture. The crew also broke the front door and left it wide open and I had to pay my landlord for that. read more

I have useed A & T Moving Company many times (at least 5) for myself as well as family members. This month Art and his movers did an impossible job. Unfortunately a family member passed away and his apartment had to be cleaned out. This apartment was a total disarray, since the deceased was a hoarder (a good man with a sickness of being a hoarder). Art and his men brought two trucks and worked quickly removing things, with one truck dedicated to a dumpster and the second to a move. The movers arrived on time and packed what needed to bre packed and cleared. They were pleasant, communicated well and did a very professional job.I am very happy with the moving services that A & T provided and will certainly use them again. If I could give zero I would. My journey starts when my son Christopher started getting estimates for our move from Pearl River to Ocean Isle Beach North Carolina. Art came to our home looked at everything and gave us an estimate $5,200.00 flat with wardrobe boxes. OK, so the day arrives the truck pulls up with a 20 ft box truck which was totally too small for our move. He assured us that there would be plenty of room for our belongings. Needless to say he could not fit all our furniture. My son Chris had to rent a 20 ft box car from U Haul to move the furniture and belongings which A & T Moving N Hauling could not move. Cost was $1,600.00. My son had to drive all the way down south. My furniture including a fairly new office set from Pottery Barn along with other pieces could not fit on either truck. My husband had to hire a man with a truck to haul away all the furniture and belongings that Art said would be moved that were not moved. Moving is an extremely stressful time, the shady mover made our lives miserable and ended up costing us an additional $2,100.00. I was crying and so upset it is a miracle I was not taken to the hospital. As far as wardrobe boxes go my coats and husbands suits were thrown in black plastic bags. If I were not in NC I would take this shady mover to court. Dont hire him run and run fast to a reputed moving company. read more

I called this company and spoke to "Art". I told him we're moving and need a moving company to help with the move. I mentioned all the furnitures to be moved and specify that we have a marble top server that will require a couple people to move. He then said he will send me a text message with a link to an email address send me a picture of the server which I did. I did not know that the only thing he got out of the conversation was moving the server?! Who hires a moving company for one furniture? Then he had the audacity to reply to me on the email the way he did. I've attached the text message and email thread. I'm sure he will comment negatively on this just like he has on the other comments with reviewers who has been upset but this was my experience with this company getting a quote. HE SAID HE DOES NOT RECALL SPEAKING WITH ME, YET HIS TEXT SHOWS "IT WAS A PLEASURE SPEAKING WITH YOU." I am exposing you for pretending you never worked or spoke to the people who left you bad reviews! These people had most likely dealt with you and you pretend you never spoke to them with your reply on Yelp. ** These positive reviews here are probably discounted reviews. As I have said, he replied with his negative review below saying he doesn't recall speaking with me and spoke to 4 different Pearl's the same day. My name is not that common. Beware of A&T and Art. Art gave me a flat rate a month before the move. When his guys were on the way over to my apartment to start the move, he called me to say that the price he gave me was just an estimate. Really Art?? You had a whole month to call to tell me that. Well he raised the price by $400. Then his guys took over 8 hours to move an apartment, with a 2 hour lunch break in middle. They were unprofessional and banged up my freshly painted walls, scratched my furniture, ripped my couch, and broke a glass on my dresser. The kicker was that they stole my exercise bike (and who knows what else) while on their lunch break. Dont say you weren't warned. Pay the extra couple hundred dollars and use a reputable moving company with insurance. read more

The movers arrived on time to pick up my items and went directly to the next location and unloaded them without incident. They wrapped the furniture in blankets and did their thing. It has been hit-and-miss for me when it comes to movers. I was pleasantly surprised and extremely relieved that everything went smoothly. Their communication skills were excellent. Do NOT hire A&t movers if you care for your things. Arthur came to my house in a rush. He said everything was gonna be blanket wrapped, & they can use two trucks we PAID for.. On December 6th, the movers were rushing, & got mad because they wanted "to get going". They tried to forget my furniture still not loaded on the truck. They unloaded all my belongings and crammed them into 1 truck; since some of them "couldn't make it". My tools are missing. My plants were thrown in a plastic bag, & on a freezing truck before I could get them to my own vehicle. They're damaged. The movers damaged things I had for years: an armoire cabinet, an antique statue (not even wrapped) was completely broken off the base. I now have to order hardware pulls that are missing from a dresser- & the bed wasn't assembled.. since "they had to get back on the road". Unprofessional isn't good enough for the nasty, cheap & careless service for these movers. Last week, Arthur said he would send us a check. I wouldn't refer them to anybody. Hire someone else. Like thieves in the night! I hired Arthur and his God Forsaken moving company, A&T Moving N Hauling last month. It's very unfortunate to report that I was robbed! Yes, stolen from and violated by his workers! Of course, you will read Arthur's reply denying this fact and making sure to say something degragory about me as in all his other replies to upset customers!! But I used the word FACT because it is all true! My trusting and naive nature was taken advantage of when one of his garbage men opened a night stand that he was moving from one room to another. He saw my Movado watch, which was my prized possession! He stole it! I was not aware of this larceny until a few days later when I noticed it missing. In addition, I come to notice 2 jars of coins missing as well. My immediate reaction was to call Arthur and report this travesty!! Initially, he laughed and said I was making it up! He spoke to me in a disgusting manner and called me a liar! I was even more appalled, as I tipped those low life's $260! I have repeatedly asked and pleaded to Arthur to try to return my watch, again naive because to no avail! Uncooperative, unsympathetic and real nasty!! PLEASE BE AWARE!! DO NOT USE THESE SCAMMING THIEVES!! YOU WILL BE SORRY!!! In addendum to my initial review, I'm even more appalled at the lies this man has posted! He did in fact move a forgotten item on a second occasion but at a $50.00 charge. Still at that point a day later, I was unaware of the larceny committed! The police did investigate but to no avail because they're real sneaky and my claim could not be proven! The FACT still remains my watch is gone! This company owes me money for a broken window and refuses to pay. We used A & T back in April to move from our home in the bronx to a condo in Westchester. The company worked with us with the moving date since we were not sure when we would be closing due to the pandemic. Once we got a closing date, we scheduled with them. We did not have access yet to the condo but Artie and his team loaded up 2 trucks and brought them up to the garage of the condo where we would be closing within a week. During the move at our home in the Bronx, one of the movers lost his balance and broke the window on our staircase. It was the morning of the walk-through so there was no time to fix the window before the sellers noticed. Artie assured us that all we had to do was find a company that could fix the window ASAP and that he would gladly pay for it. We did just that. The window was fixed the morning of the closing and I sent the receipt to Artie. He again assured me it was no problem. The price of the window was pretty good, a lot better than I thought it would be. The next time I spoke to Artie he told me that he had to let the worker know that the money for the window would be coming out of his paycheck. This was the first red flag. I felt like he was trying to guilt me into telling him forget about the money. But then while discussing how we were closing on the condo and now had to bring all the boxes in from the garage that isn't super close to our unit, Artie proposed that he and a couple of guys come up and move all the boxes from the garage to the condo and we call it even on the window. I was completely satisfied with that idea, it meant a lot less work for me. We set it up for the day after the closing. When i reached out to him the day of the closing to make sure we were still on for the next day, he told me that he was just too busy and that he would write me a check. I was disappointed but I understood. Unfortunately, that check never came. He also stopped answering my phone calls. It took a call from my lawyer for Artie to return my phone call. The man who was "too busy" to honor the agreement we came to was now crying poverty because of the covid-19 situation and claimed to not be able to pay the money. He told me to forget about it because it's not worth the legal fees it would cost me to take him to court over it. When i told him that he'd be paying my legal fees once I won the court case, he tried to haggle with me about the amount. I told him I wanted all of my money. Then he told me that he'd send me half the money now and half at a later date, I told him to send me all of my money by a week from that date. That week has passed. No check. I warn you. Use this company at your own risk. If something goes wrong, they won't be cleaning up their mess. read more

Moving can be very stressful especially when helping a family member downsize and move from a home to an independent living facility. Most movers don't want to deal with smaller moves. Art's company came recommended, did not haggle with pricing and provided a reasonable estimate. Art and his team of movers were professional and punctual. It was such an amazing experience and everything was moved with care and arrived safely. When I moved into my old apartment four years ago, I used Art (A&T). Things went smoothly so I decided to employ them again upon moving out. I wish I hadn't. I contacted Art a week before the move and told him I needed a Certificate of Insurance to reserve the elevator for my building at least 24 hours before the move. He told me he would "for sure" be able to provide me the document in that timeframe. I later found out he didn't begin to prepare the COI until the day before the move; I then had to call him multiple times just to get a copy of the certificate 6 hours _after_ I told him I needed it. The day of the move, I got a call from Art's guys saying they wouldn't make it to my apartment until 1PM, even though Art told me they'd be there by 10AM. So again I called Art, who now assured me they would be there by 11. I'll spare you the remaining details, except to say the moving van did not pull up to my apartment until 2:30. (By the way, I was only able to reserve the elevator in my building for a two hour slot, which the movers obviously missed. But not to worry: Art told the guys to do the move as fast as possible because they were late, as if having rushed movers handling my valuables would make me feel better.) Overall, I'd stay away from A&T. Art seems like a nice enough guy, but that's not much consolation when the movers you hire are nearly five hours late and scrambling to move your expensive furniture before you lose an elevator reservation. P.S. the movers themselves were efficient and professional, and they told me their boss decided the schedule that had them doing another job before mine, which is why they were so late. read more
