Nationwide Pet Insurance - King of my heart (but me and my pup so no to kings otherwise.)

    Nationwide Pet Insurance

We secured whole pet/whole life + wellness insurance for our Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Nigel, when he…read morewas a puppy, and the coverage was pretty comprehensive and extremely useful until the end of this past year, with reimbursements being quickly mailed to us. Our dog is now almost 11, and we recently filed a claim via the website/app, as always. We then received a mailing saying that this policy was "no longer active," with no explanatory details. My husband had originally acquired this policy, which was supposed to be lifelong insurance for our pup, while working for a different company a decade ago (through his work benefits package). Thoroughly confused, he called Nationwide and was informed that the credit card on file for the automatic insurance payments we had been making on time FOR A DECADE had expired, and, without our knowledge, the policy had been cancelled and could no longer be restored (they wouldn't even allow us to put a new credit card on file and retroactively pay for the month or two when they had attempted to charge the expired card). They apparently notified us only via my husband's work email from the job he had a decade ago, which he obviously no longer has access to. Although they had our physical mailing address and frequently sent us reimbursement checks in the mail, they never sent us a physical letter informing us of the credit card issue, so we had no way of knowing. Now, our senior pet who has some preexisting back issues has no way of being insured in a way that would actually cover any of his medical costs, even though we had done everything we could to make sure he was going to be insured for life. We are extremely unhappy with Nationwide's lack of notification and unjust cancellation of our policy, which seems dishonest. Had he been a younger pet for whom they didn't anticipate increasing medical costs, I wonder if they would have reached out by mail to inform us of the credit card issue when they were unable to reach us via the old email address? It's distressing that, when we had diligently paid our premium since 2015, they would not let us reinstate our policy by paying the month or two for which our credit card on file, unbeknownst to us, had expired. Just really disappointing, and I hate knowing that my sweet pup will now have the least insurance coverage (none) he has ever had in his life just at the age when he will need it most. After being quite please with it for years, we are now extremely dissatisfied with Nationwide Pet Insurance and would welcome outreach from the company to reinstate our policy when it was unjustly cancelled; restore our faith in this company; and help us make sure our pet can have all the medical care he may need in his old age.

I got this insurance through work and assumed it would be a high-quality plan. Looking back, I…read morereally wish I had done more research before enrolling. There are many better options available with significantly stronger coverage. My 6-year-old cat was recently diagnosed with cancer. While this plan reimburses 70% of eligible expenses, the annual reimbursement cap is only $7,500. Unfortunately, that amount does not go very far when chemotherapy treatments can easily exceed $20,000. Since then, I've seen many other plans offering 90% reimbursement and annual limits as high as $100,000. My advice to anyone considering pet insurance is to carefully compare plans before committing. Not researching my options more thoroughly is my biggest regret. Now, because my cat has a pre-existing condition, switching providers is no longer a realistic option.

I came here 2 times because of an Amazon Local deal that I bought which entitled my dog to 2 basic…read moregroomings for $30. When I came the 1st time, I found out that the basic grooming only included a bath, nail clipping & a trim (light trimming and cutting hair from the stomach). The man who took care of my chow collie mix did a good job of getting him nice and clean and his hair to look puffy (like how chow dogs have their hair). But I really would have wished for him to give my dog a puppy cut, since that is truly what dog groomers would call a "basic cut" or a "basic grooming". Anyways, this past Monday, my husband was going to drop off our chow collie mix again for his 2nd grooming. Since he got there early, he thought he should let our dog relieve himself on the grass in front of this groomers so that he doesn't accidentally go when the groomer is working on him. The groomer's front door was open and he looked at my husband and called out very rudely 'the door's open now'. He also made a comment about how our dog may ruin the flowers on the grassy part out in front of his groomer's store. But our dog was no where near the flowers and also if you run a grooming & boarding place, you should realize that dogs may most likely urinate or even poop on your flowers. Anyways, when my husband brought our dog in, the man asked to see our vaccinations. The 1st time we came in, the groomer didn't even bother to ask me to bring in a copy of our dog's vaccinations, but I decided to bring them just in case. He wrote down the information on a white card. So my husband told him about that and after the man looked through his disorganized stack of cards, he became angry and started to argue with my husband asking what is the last name and why he doesn't have the vaccinations. My husband basically called the man out and said he should have it, but he must have misplaced the information. The man looked through another stack and found the card information and then took our dog and said he would call my husband when our dog is ready. About 4 hours later, our dog was ready for pick up. My husband asked him what was a basic grooming? The groomer said a puppy cut, but he said he would not do that for our dog unless we pay an extra $35. My husband did not want to pay an additional cost, especially since the man was quite rude to him. I believe the groomer is also the owner and each time I tried to make an appointment over the phone, it was hard to understand him because of his fast talking and accent. I do not feel the groomer/ owner provided excellent service and I would never bring my dog (or any of my other dogs) here ever again.

My dog was FILTHY afterwards and there was no way I could bring him to work with me anymore. So I came in and asked quickly if he could do a bath and I'll pick my dog up in a few hours. He said yes and by the time I came back, my dog looked and smelled great again! Thank you guys so much for the bath! My Oliver NEEDED one!
