A. Mendoza Roofing just finished re-roofing my house and it was a good experience. They were easy to communicate with and the onsite staff were pleasant, considerate, and always left the area around the house tidy. My roof is pretty complicated, having sloped parts, flat parts, and vertical parts but they were able to do all the needed work. I had hired Adrian Mendoza before, to redo a friend's roof and to do several repairs on my house, so I felt confident in hiring him out of loyalty (instead of my contractor's regular sub) to do a brand-new roof with several skylights. It was supposed to take about a week. Apparently he had too many other jobs going, since he showed up erratically, would leave a couple of workers but not supervise them, they would leave debris all over the roof, not complete some parts and did a terrible job on the all-important flashing and linear vents on the dormers of our bedroom. My contractor had to OK their work for me to pay, and he took photos and made lists, After each of the 2 or 3 incidents like this, I would write Adrian an email listing each problem to fix and attach photos; apparently he did not read any of the emails, did not reply or communicate directly, was out of town a lot but would come over without notice and do a little work, then announce everything was done and leave. Then the contractor would inspect, find lots of problems and the cycle would repeat; this went on for at least 3 weeks, until the first rain threatened recently and the painters were being held up by the roof not being completed. I sent another email documenting the problems, and mentioning a complaint to the state license board unless there was prompt response. This got Adrian's son involved, who replaced some of the gutters installed incorrectly, but he couldn't finish everything. Adrian finally came and did the worst gutter repair I've ever seen. I finally paid him what he had coming and got someone else to repair the gutters, but was very disappointed in this entire episode and it ruined our relationship. I would not recommend hiring A.Mendoza again, because the customer is at the mercy of how skilled and reliable a roofer is, and this contractor has really changed, not for the better. read more

Hard working crew. Very detailed. Reasonably priced. Installed new roof and added Twirlley bird fans and eyebrow vents to reduce trapped heat in attic. Worked with solar contractor to put footings underneath shingles. Onofre was excellent from start to finish. He made sure shingles matched original, used highest quality felt and fans. I contracted to have some of my own tarps put on my leaking roof until I could afford to re-roof. They only had time to put up one tarp since they had other customers that needed emergency service that moderately rainy day. It was good enough to cover the part of my roof that leaked so far. This was in October of 2016. I allowed them to take care of their other customers with the understanding that they would come back another day to finish covering the rest of the roof. The tarp came loose a few weeks later (during a very windy day) and they came back to re-attach it. They brought more sticks to hold down the tarp (and future tarps) and left their safety rope attached to the roof-ridge. I gave the owner a nice used extra ladder of mine for his effort to come back to re-attach since I had not given him any money yet because the job was not finished. I made many calls over the past 2 years to get them back to finish but they decided to finally tell me they weren't going to. Odd behavior but I made out OK in terms of not losing any money on the deal. I was hoping that they would come back to finish and they abandoned the job so I need to find someone else. read more

Mendoza Roofing just did a great looking job on my house. Armando was able to schedule me in quite quickly and they got the job done on time and on budget. Armando was very nice and accommodating. There was one new piece of flashing that rested on the side of the house and he asked me whether I wanted it be the color of the roof or the house and I choose the house. When I gave him my old house paint it was dried up so he went and the paint store and bought a new can of paint for me at no charge. I thought one of the new vent pipes looked a little crooked and he sent one of his men over the next day to straighten it out, secure it in place and repainted to my satisfaction. FYI Some of the old reviews mentioned how Mendoza roofing was a no show for an appointment. Armando explained to me that was when his uncle ran the business. A couple of winters ago, I had some pretty bad leaks in my roof and hired Adrian to patch it as a quick fix until I could get the roof done the next spring. He does the patching and also replaces a couple of skylights, now I have more leaks than I started out with. I called to let him know about the leaks and when I removed the ceiling in some parts of my house, I could literally see daylight coming through where they allegedly patched the roof. He came over a few times and threw a tarp up here and there which never actually addressed the issue. He put a bunch of goop around one of the skylights he installed, but it still leaked. When it came time for a new roof, He wanted half the money up front. I asked him about a permit and he said that wasn't necessary and I said it was absolutely necessary. After that he didn't return my calls and became even more flaky, so I went out and found someone else. read more

With the rain season coming, everyone is in a hurry to get their roof and gutters serviced. So if you have a bit of a long wait, don't be discouraged. I actually called Manada roofing first and all they cared about were quoting me a price to replace my entire roof. Even with that, they were a week late and never respond to my request of just fixing it. A. Mendoza roofing is a great team. Showed up and quickly checked out the problem. As a retired senior I appreciate getting a great job at a good price. I had experience working with general contractors and subs during my working career and we had a general lead the job for us. Mendoza roofing did a fine job for us. The new roof and gutters added a new look to our home at a price much lower than the highest bid we received.They also did nice detail work fabricating custom down spouts, installing vents and installing gutter guards. We used Adrian to replace our 30 year old, 4 layer deep roof. Mendoza Roofing is a good value option if you just need a new bog standard composite shingle roof. Cost was very affordable compared to the other estimates we received (ranging from $2000 - $4000 less). Probably most ideal for people on a tight budget and just need a no-frills roof replacement. Adrian and his crew are fast and hard-working, our whole roof plus a cottage in the back were done in 3 days. Adrian the owner is very friendly and easy to work with. Maybe some of the wood repairs could have been done a little cleaner, but for the price I can't complain too much. Afterwards we noticed a mistake in the placement of one of the down spouts, but Adrian happily came back fixed it for us. When the job was finished, Adrian took us up to the roof to inspect his work, which was appreciated. Our house looks about a million times better now. read more

I do my research, check reviews, but i find the best way to find a good contractor is to watch my neighborhood for the same work I want done. That's how I found A. Mendoza roofing.They were doing my neighbors roof and it looked great. My neighbor was happy and recommended them. I asked for a business card and called a few months later when I was ready for an estimate. they were there the next day to measure the roof and my estimate was there the day after that.I decided to wait until spring, then covid 19 hit and I put it off for a few more months through fall but needed to get it done before winter.finally called Adrian for the job, he remembered me, came back and gave me a lower estimate as a break because of covid 19. We agreed on price, got the written contract, and started about to weeks later.I live in a modest three bedroom home in San Lorenzo ,I know what it cost to put a roof on.I have had several estimates over four years from $7000 to $29000 for the same roof.I do not want "roofing systems" with diamond plated vents and solid gold tar paper. A skylight we added to our master bathroom started leaking. The company that did the installation when we replaced the roof maybe a dozen years ago wasn't interested. Another roofer said the installation was wrong and the skylight and the surrounding asphalt shingles would need to be replaced for $2,750. Adrian Mendoza looked over the problem, agreed that the installation was wrong and said that it would be $320 to fix it. In a couple of hours he and his helper pulled everything off, put it all back together and packed up the debris. Before he left, Mr. Mendoza said, "If you ever have any more problems with that, just call me." I had my roof done by adrian and he did a terrible job.there were nails expose all over the roof,he used cheap plywood, he ran out material and used a other colored material to finish the job. he also did'nt change any flashing around all vents and the trim at the roof edge is falling off and when you call him back to come out to fix it he don't answer your call.
