Our concrete tile roof was in its 37th year and all of the valleys were showing rust. The type of concrete tile has been discontinued for many years and it was a real pain to replace the broken tiles after a bad storm. The roof on the backside was pretty cooked. We also wanted to put solar panels on our roof. There was no way I was going to put solar panels on a 30 year roof that was in its 37th year. Time to replace. So bad really based on the terrible experienced I had total chaos & inconveniences for over a week. The roof workers were impolite just showed up hrs earlier than expected, climbed the roof w/o letting us know & started tearing, smashing & banging our roofs while we are inside for morning routines, then ...it so started raining gravels, pebbles, sands & dusts all over the place bedrooms, bathrooms, closers, living room, garage, especially in the kitchen all over inside my house They have never ever inspected the kind of roof they'll be working on AND they don't care what is happening with the people inside the house AND never ever asked id we are OKAY. They just wanted to get the job done! So, where is professionalism on their side? On the following days I had to get their attention because roof nails are scattered in the ground I even stepped on it & they don't clean up where trashes from the roof all over. Maybe because I'm only renting this property the reason they did not care.. I don't think its correct not to even inspect the kind of ceilings the house has coz your workers might be falling inside the property on weak rotten spots they stepping on with tools & added weights they carry with them. I reached out to Don couple months ago regarding a re-roofing due to my insurance complication. I called..I kid you not, about 10 roofers/inspections and I was getting frustrated with: 1. They don't pick up the phone or get back to you. 2. They aren't taking any new clients because they are booked more than 3 months out. 3. (This one was funny) He was retiring. I needed a reliable contractor ASAP because my insurance was not working with me since the roof was not repaired after a recent purchase. I was finally able to get a response from Don and he was VERY helpful and walking me to the steps that he needed to take to complete the process. Don came out the next business day to do a roof inspection and gave us an estimate when the project can start. He kept me in the loop since rain was preventing the work from happening. The quote he gave me was a lot more reasonable than the other companies (who got back to me eventually). You can also choose the color of the roof! When re-roof started, it took about 2.5 days to complete and was very happy for the speedy re-roofing. *If your garage is not insulated, make sure to cover the areas you don't want debris on. We spent quite a bit of time investigating roofing and roofers. We finally narrowed our options to three companies. Among these, Vincent stood out as our top choice. This was partly due to the fact that our brother-in-laws' Heating and Sheetmetal business had worked with and for Vincent for years and vouched for their professionalism, quality and integrity. I had a pretty good idea what our new roof should cost and Vincent's bid was right in line. Vincent worked around the weather constraints and got our roof on in the first available window. They were, in fact, very professional. We knew what to expect each day. They cleaned up each day so it looked like they hadn't even been there. Their gutter crew came up with some ingenious designs to tie the downspouts into our dedicated drainage pipes, while still allowing us access to clean the pipes out if we need to. I researched a lot of roofing companies, and we really wanted Vincent Roofing because of the solid reviews on Yelp. We did have to wait a bit to get the work started due to scheduling, but WOW! THEY ARE WORTH THE WAIT! They were so communicative throughout the entire process as well, which we so appreciate. They did the demo work on a Sunday, and were done in a week, and that's including some additional work that needed to be done that was revealed when they took out our old roof. All these years, one of our bedrooms used to feel like a sauna during the late Spring and Summer, and a refrigerator in the Winter, and our garage was the same. They told us that, basically, there was a layer that was missing all this time. It sounds like the people who owned the house before us had cut corners. After the roof was completed, we experienced this strange heat wave last week, and we noticed that the bedroom and garage that used to have temperature issues now feel completely normal, and the whole house stayed cool throughout the day. This review as they say -- is a little unusual. I have not done business directly with Vincent Roofing. However, my next door neighbor who has an older shake roof has had Vincent Roofing do a number of repairs. They (my neighbors) are nursing their roof along, planning to fully replace their roof in the next couple of years. But while Don, the owner was doing repairs on my neighbor's roof a few weeks ago, he noticed some things that didn't seem right when he looked over at my roof. He observed that some of the asphalt singles on my roof appeared to be failing in certain sections of the roof and mentioned that to my neighbor. My neighbor in turn mentioned that to me a few days later. So I called Vincent Roofing and Don came out while I was gone and took pictures and identified a number of sections where the 50 Year asphalt singles appeared to be failing (after 15 years). He said that it did not appear to be an installation issue (the roof was done be another contractor) -- But It did appear that a number of singles were failing due to a manufacturing defect. Don, took pictures and sent me a very reasonable quote. He did say, however, that I needed to file a claim with the asphalt single manufacturer ASAP. I honestly thought that the roofer that had originally installed my roof had left the area. I found my original paperwork from my original roofer after speaking with Don and after he submitted his bid. I have to go with my original roofing contractor now that I've rediscovered him, but I was greatly impressed with Don's response and the fact that he could have 'bad mouthed' the quality of the work from one of his competitors, but didn't. My original contractor was pretty impressed about that as well. Don saved me potentially 1000's of dollars over the long term and I didn't pay him a penny. I will certainly keep Vincent Roofing, however, in my virtual 'Roladex' any time I need a new roof on a rental or primary residence. read more
