This an update to a wonderful, five-star rating that I provided to Wonderlin in 2022 after they put on our new roof and added solar provided by their sister company, Synergy Energy in Livermore. As any long time California resident knows, we don't get a lot of rain compared to other areas of the country. Because of climate change, we have started experiencing atmospheric river storms as witnessed in the last few weeks. We experienced a leak during the week between Christmas and New Years and when I called their office, I learned that they were closed until Monday, January 5. Well to my surprise. I received a call back from their office asking about the severity of the leak and whether I needed immediate help or could it wait until they had everyone back to work on the 5th. I had a bucket collecting water and the leak was small enough that I decided it could wait. On the 5th, I received a call back from the office asking if they could send two repair people that afternoon to inspect and repair the issue. I was not home but my wife was, and she said that the gentlemen were prompt and thorough and explained what they saw and what did to correct the leak. I am not writing this as a novice to the problems in the construction industry, I am now retired but worked 40+ years in the window and door portion of the industry from owning my own company and working in sales for a billion-dollar wood window company (Marvin Windows and Doors). If anyone knows of Marvin, they are a company that prides themselves in producing one of the best wood windows in the industry as well as providing exceptional service. We've used Wonderlin several times to do repairs on our roof and gutters. They've always been prompt, courteous, careful, and affordable, and the work has been uniformly excellent. We recently called to get some information about adding extra insulation to our attic. The team seems like a great team to work with... I unfortunately experienced a situation where a resealing (while a part of the scope of work) -- had to be redone because it wasn't sealed correctly. The resulting leak left a nasty crack on the ceiling finishing and there's no support there. TL:DR - they seem to mean well. But if they don't do the work entirely right and leads to water damage... they won't fix the damages. read more

I didn't realize that Wonderlin was a "small" business until I saw mention of it in several posts here. I thought they were a big company because they operate like a well oiled machine! We found them via the solar company we decided to work with for our solar panel installation. Wonderlin and Synergy Solar were able to combine a single contract which made things super easy for us. While my husband did most of the research - I was able to hop on a call with Grover to go over everything and ask all my noob questions. He was helpful and explained things in just enough detail. He was honest, without any aggressive sales tactics and willingly offered his expertise. We added new insulation, and while the estimate on that was more than I had expected (isn't insulation just old cloths??) it's made a world of difference with these 100+ degree days we've been having. Our house is noticeably cooler and more comfortable. We also added some solar tube lights as well as an attic fan. The bathroom / hallway where we added the solar tube lights is amazing; husband and I have already said multiple times that these small additions on top of updating the roof has been money well spent. Everything went very smoothly and everyone was practicing covid safety. Wonderlin is a well oiled machine. Day 1: old roof was torn off. Parked in our driveway with a dumpster - the house shook because people were running around on my roof and they were gone 3 hours later with everything around the house cleaned up. No one bothered us inside - they just got to work, finished and left. Day 2: Truck with conveyer belt parked in my driveway and in about 90 minutes unloaded all the materials onto roof. Again, no one bothered us - in and out getting their job done. Day 3: New insulation blown into the house. Probably 2-3 hours tops. Laid down ground cover to protect our floors and carpet. Day 4: Full day of work and solar tubes installed (via indoors) by Ryan Day 5: Just a few hours to wrap everything up and put in mesh over our gutters and cut new downspouts. We had our new roof installed within weeks! And the owner came by to explain some final details about the felt and composite types and lifetimes. The next day, the project lead came right at the time he had told us and also ensured our bathroom exhaust pipes were positioned to exit the house through the roof (instead of in the attic). The team also suggested a solar attic fan and vent for the hot summers, which we added, as well as new steel gutters on our home and detached garage. Nearly a year later, we had a solar company install panels on the new roof. That company also installed a new service panel, so Wonderlin came out to fix our gutter to ensure it wrapped around the new panel conduits. I had a home inspection when I first bought my house. Wonderlin came out and the guy that came out just said if there was anything he thought needed attention he would let me know but he didn't find anything after a thorough inspection and he told me exactly that. Wonderlin installed my new roof probably over 8/9 yrs ago (great work and loved the color). They custom built a new fan exhaust box and painted it to match the color of my house. To this day Grover has come by to check on issues I've had that were no fault of theirs, but issues caused by other contractors doing other work and Grover has come by assessed the issue and taken care of it with no charge. I mean, C'mon!! Grover is just a honest, nice guy with great knowledge and experience. You just don't find good contractors like that anymore. I've recommended to friends who also have used them. Wonderlin Roofing Systems replaced my roof in Oct 2017. This was my first time reroofing a house. I had a lot of questions and all were answered by the owners and the front office. There are a lot moving parts involved in reroofing. You need good roofing contractor to make things run smoothly. I had wood rot concerns, gutter problems, and attic ventilation issues. I was planning on painting the exterior of the house so it made sense to replace the gutters as some of were starting to leak and rust at the seams anyways. The price was fair and they were able to accommodate my schedule as the old gutter needed to be removed prior to painting and the new gutters had to go up after painting was completed. Both jobs (removal and installation) took a day each and both times they were able to come earlier than scheduled due to another job being cancelled. The work itself is good also, no complaints. They seem to be a larger company and have a dedicated person that answers calls / emails so communication was always prompt. Another nice thing is that they have online contracts and invoicing so you are able to pay electronically via your bank account, very convenient! read more
