I was contacted to remove my review because they have new owners and are different. Why would I remove my review and it's completely true? The storage facility did nothing and I had to throw away NEW furniture because it reeked of rat urine and feces. I had to spend a whole day in a mask cleaning up and throwing away MY belongings because of their inability to adequately explain they were rat infested and that there was separate insurance needed WHEN I ASKED. At the time I already had a lung infection, and I was bawling because I'd just moved to Austin and had no help. If they had worked with me then, MAYBE I wouldn't have left it in the first place. Run, do not walk, from this place. I rented at this storage facility as I needed what I thought would be reliable storage for two suitcases, a bedframe, two large plastic tubs, one with clothes and one with dishes, four pieces of artwork, a box that had some candles, a coin collection that belonged to my dad (RIP) as well as his cane, a dog carrier with pillow and several items that were inedible and not food. Came back twice after moving into the locker in the months that I was there. Last time before starting to move items out was because even though I told them I wanted the charges automatically charged as I was moving between Chicago and Austin, I received a nasty letter saying my bill hadn't been paid. I paid the bill, got access to my locker and made preparations to move out in the middle of December. Came back on moving day to discover my locker had been decimated by rats, their hair, urine and feces were everywhere. Due to a lung infection I had to get a mask to even move things or start to sort through them to figure out what to trash and what to keep. Mind you, I'd relocated to austin from Chicago. Didn't know a soul. Once the company did know about the rats, they put a red locker on my locker so I could not take pics. I was able to get them to get it off the next day, and after tossing out the bed frame which had been marked by urine, feces and holes, the attached are what I saw. Up to you to do with what you will. Ps- rats and vermin on storage lockers are not a part of standard coverage by rental insurance, even if they tell you otherwise as insurance companies expect storage facilities to have pest control. It is an additional, and costly, addendum. I learned that the hard way. Also learned they are not legally regulated by the state of Texas. read more

Completely got screwed over by this place on an already stressful moving day. We had reservations for a 5x10 a week in advance and even got confirmation emails. When we showed up with our van full of stuff we came to a long line of angry people arguing with the manager because they'd overbooked and couldn't honor our reservation. We now have to find something else last minute (everything is pretty much taken due to a busy moving time) and our truck rental is now going to be late. Manager also admitted this happens a lot and wouldn't do anything about it. Also don't believe any of the 5 star reviews here. People are told to rate this place 5 stars for a chance to win $25. Avoid this place at all costs!!! read more

Horrible service, I was here 9:00, call and left a message, employee does not show until 9:10, when she is here she has an incredibly horrible attitude about the promotion they're running for first month free on sparefoot (maybe got yelled at by the boss for showing late), calls the manager and decides not to honor it, which I don't care, public storage is running the same promotion, just don't appreciate the attitude. read more

I recently had an extremely poor experience at U-Haul at Slaughter and I-35. I did a web search because I was completely through with UHaul and I discovered A Mini Storage of Texas. I doubled my storage space, got additional insurance, and I am playing less than what I paid UHaul each month for a 5x5 storage space. I can drive up to my storage unit. I no longer have to use an elevator and cart and park in a crowded spaces. The jerks at U-Haul improved my storage situation. I met one of my fellow storage renters at A Mini Storage of Texas and I got a lunch/dinner date. Go see Mike, the manager at A Mini Storage of Texas. You will get responsive, respectful customer service and more storage space for your dollar! read more

I have rented a unit from A-Mini for years. About a year ago the security gate stopped working. Now it is open day and night. I have asked and asked for it to be repaired to no avail. This is not a good part of town, And no working gate is not a good thing. And there are rats, Lots of them. I only store equipment in my unit. I have asked about controlling them to but nothing has been done. I will be gone as soon as my contract is up. Oh and by the way they went up $35.00 a month on rent read more

Like several other reviewers for this place, I would definitely not recommend this place. We called with an issue on our account and the staff was rude and unhelpful. While the rental fee was reasonable, the rotten customer service and additional fees when we left were subpar at best. read more

Doesn't honor reservations or their online pricing. We had a reservation with them, showed up with a truck full of stuff to move in, and they told us that they gave away our unit. They said they fill their online "reservations" on a first come, first serve basis, and wouldn't have given us the price we had reserved even if they did. Luckily we were able to get another storage unit at AAA Storage down the road, but if we hadn't, these people would have left us completely screwed over. The woman there was incredibly rude and unapologetic as well. This was so bad that we're filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

I know if you're reading this, you're probably looking into the least expensive place to store your stuff in Austin. You're thinking "is the saved money worth risking my stuff?" We asked the same thing and here's your answer: IT'S NOT. Rat poop and chewed food (probably drug in by the rats) was on my mattress upon arrival. This was after HEAVILY dosing our unit with rat killer. Not good. We then tried to contact them about moving out 2 weeks before our move via email and contact form and got no response (we were out of the country). Then they yelled at us for asking for our money back when we moved out one day after rent was due (that's why we contacted them 2 weeks in advance). Even worse is that they will tell you one thing to your face then another on the phone. In person, they said we were getting our money back and were all nice about it. Then a few days later, when we got to our new place in Dallas - the answer was NO YOU SIGNED A LEASE. Pay the extra $20-$40 a month to store at a better facility. We wish we did! read more

I'm not surprised to see all the other bad reviews of this place. The manager/ Owner was super rude and short with me on our first call because she didn't have a reservation for me even though I had a confirmation email. When I called the 3rd party who set up the reservation they got it straightened out. I called her back again to confirm the reservation and to ask about the hours and she blamed me for the confusion earlier. When I said, hold up I was just giving you the info that was given to me she became rude again and said I reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. I was flabbergasted and I'm really happy I'm not giving her my money. read more

RIP OFF!!! I would leave zero stars if I could. In spite of having a reserved unit at a discount and in spite of calling ahead, we arrived to Marie telling she just rented the last. She informed us reservations don't matter and she doesn't honor any discounts. This from the "manager" of 22 years. She made it perfectly clear this is the normal way she treats people. She was rude. She was not caring. She didn't even want to reveal her name or her boss's name. Go to AAA STORAGE just down the road. They saved our butts. Also reporting these charlatans to the BBB for bait and switch tactics. Don't believe any good reviews....they have sign to win a discount for good reviews. She needs fired. Owner needs to step it up. read more

Extremely Unprofessional. I made a reservation a week ago. Today, I showed up only to find out the woman could care less about me or my reservation. She tried to say she just didn't have the units, but she had them today and gave them away. There wasn't a mistake in my reservation she had 2 units available today, the day of my reservation and she just gave them to someone else because she didn't care. Furthermore, she was unprofessional and did not care at all that I was screwed. I would avoid this place at all costs because they clearly don't care about their customers or keeping track of anything. read more

We reserved a storage unit at A-1 Mini Storage in Austin via selfstorage.com. It was the most convenient location, had the most cooperative staff as well as the most reasonable price among all the hard-to-book storage facilities we tried. The process of booking a storage unit was complicated by the fact that only my apartment contents were to be moved; I am 2 states and over 1000 miles away and obviously unable to personally sign the lease as required. When I called to explain my dilemma, the woman in the office was extremely helpful and texted the owner to call me so that we could finalize the storage contract. He was kind enough to allow me to send authorization for the rental via email, I put my check in the mail to them and voila! I had a storage unit ready for my movers. I was very appreciative of the time and effort that A-1 Mini Storage put forth to ensure I had a safe and secure space for my belongings. Give them a try! read more
