A Mother's Touch is the Chicago NW Suburbs Lottery of daycare. I could not be more impressed, more comfortable, and more pleased with the teachers at this institution!! Turnover is low, which to me matters more than anything else. Their communication is top-notch. They treat every kid like they are special and loved. They share concerns in person and send photos and videos of support throughout each day And they are cheaper than a-ny-where close by. And let me tell you, I have done my research. Currently sending my 3 y/o and 8-month-old and this is the only place I think I could manage the cost. Today, my family and I had a very upsetting experience at a daycare center where we hoped to enroll our three-year-old child. The first time I visited the daycare alone, I noticed what appeared to be reluctance and a lack of warmth from the two ladies working in the administration office. However, I chose not to make assumptions and continued with the enrollment process. I was informed that I needed to bring my child in for an observation. When my wife, my child, and I arrived for the observation, I noticed that there were no Black children in attendance. Again, I did not think much of it and remained positive about the opportunity for my child. After the observation, my wife and I were informed that our child would not be accepted into the program. The explanation given was that she would not fit in because she was coming from a smaller social environment and might have difficulty adjusting to a larger classroom setting. While I understand that schools must assess whether they can meet a child's needs, the way this decision was communicated left us feeling uncomfortable and singled out. I asked directly whether the decision had anything to do with my child's race. Heather, the manager, quickly responded that it did not. However, her response did little to address my concerns, and I felt that my question was dismissed rather than genuinely considered. The entire interaction left my family feeling unwelcome and discriminated against. As parents, we want our child to be evaluated fairly based on her abilities and potential, not on assumptions or biases. Every child deserves an inclusive and welcoming environment where they are given the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. This experience was deeply hurtful and disappointing for our family, and it has left us questioning whether diversity, equity, and inclusion are truly valued at this daycare center. read more

My toddler went to the daycare for few months. We had a great experience with the teachers and the staff. Miss Kelly was just amazing. All the teachers made sure he was comfortable, entertained and fed well. I would definitely recommend this institute. Great value too. read more

It's always hard to leave your child in somebody else's hands. However, these are great hands! My daughter was always well taken care of and seemed to run into the arms of her teachers, following one particular teacher, Stephanie, everywhere she could. My daughter has been with A Mother's Touch (AMT) Academy for about a year and I am so happy with AMT. The teachers take such good care and are so nice. Ms Rose, Ms Ruth, Ms Veronica, Ms Samantha and Ms Stephanie are some of the wonderful people that take care of my kid. My kid enjoys a lot and has so many stories to tell from her every day at AMT. The activities the teachers conduct are fun and my kid enjoys all of them. Variety of food is served to the kids and they do take into consideration any dietary restrictions/considerations. They do have a ton of books and toys as well. With the COVID-19 crisis, I was a little hesitant about sending my kid but I see the precautions AMT takes to care of your kids. THEY TRULY CARE. We loved A Mother's Touch!!! Our kids are in 3rd and 5th grade now, but our oldest started with AMT when he was 6 weeks old and our daughter when she was 3 months old and went to the school until they were in Kindergarten. The teachers were all great, the administration is connected and thoughtful and they really do care about these kids. Our kids could not have been different and they just knew how to handle it all. Our first born was extremely colicky and I worried so much about how they could possibly manage him and they did and he thrived! We love them all and still stay in touch to this day!! read more

We started bringing our son to AMT when he was just a few months old ( three years ago). The first few times dropping him off were some of the most stressful times in our lives since we were leaving our baby with "random" people. This stress turned to be one of the best decisions we could have made because the team there has been absolutely amazing, compassionate, fun, educational, and exactly what our son needs. Each teacher takes a vested interest in each child in a way that I truly can't comprehend. After the recent Covid lockdowns, AMT has been superb at ensuring the children are safe and wearing masks all day. I'm not sure how they do it, but they do, and we are eternally grateful. My ONLY gripe is that the food they serve the kids in the morning sounds/smells so great - I wish they offered a parental snack as well :-) read more

AMT was wonderful with our daughter from about 6mo to 15mo. We only withdrew because of Covid since our high risk family is working from home and we were very sad to leave. As an infant our daughter was high maintenance for sleep (colic and reflux) - they handled it and made sure she was held and snuggled to sleep if needed. I never had to worry because the teachers comforted her as I would at home. She also really enjoyed the waddlers room - as an early walker, it was nice to have that transitional room as opposed to staying with infants until toddlers. She got tons of outdoor time, walks around the neighborhood and activities with her class. I also realize now how spoiled we were with the food - everything is provided and they don't serve stereotypical "kid food." Its real, healthy food and with vegetarian options from the start. I'm pretty sure that's why our kid eats so well with the adults at the table! read more

I love this place - my son has been going here for just under a year, he started when he was about 6 months old. He has been in two separate classrooms and both have been wonderful. As a new mom, it is really hard taking your child someplace each day while you go to work. AMT has allowed me to feel comfortable at work and know that my child is being well cared for. Here are my pros and cons: PROS: 1. Kind, well trained teachers and good child to teacher ratio 2. Clean, nice facilities with big rooms and an indoor gym area 3. Lots of activities for kids from arts and crafts to reading, field trips (when they are old enough) and physical activity on the playgrounds or in the gym 4. They do a great job of keeping your child on schedule for naps, meals, etc. 5. They are knowledgeable on many concerns a new mom has and do a great job keeping an eye out for anything that concerns you, just ask (i.e. spitting up, diarrhea, allergies, etc.) 6. Lots of toys and things for children to play with and learn from CONS: 1. It is expensive 2. There are a lot of dirty diapers being changed here, sometimes you smell it 3. At first some of the staff did not seem that friendly or as if they cared too much about "selling" us on their facility - I was a bit put off by it when we were looking at options but was really glad we chose AMT as people have been increasingly friendly To address another review, yes, there are pagers in the room that the teachers listen to, but there are always plenty of teachers in the room to ensure all children are adequately cared for in the event one teacher needs to step out. They are DCFS regulated so there are a lot of rules but I am very confident in this facility and happy to spend the money to send my child here. read more

I had the worst experience ever. Not sure how this day care got kids in their facility. I really mean it when I say one of the worst day cares ever. Last week I need to take my 2 years old baby to emergency room because not proper care. He get few stitches and scar for a life. The doctor said that he was lucky that he did not poke his eye. The stuff explanation was - "we don't know what happened." Children are running around by them selves. Teachers are so rude and busy talking to each other they do not pay attention to kids. Add to that the constant yelling on children. I am sorry that my baby experience this horrible time in his life. In addition the owners did not called after I sign him out from Mother's Touch to ask how is he or to apologize. read more

My daughter has attended "A Mother's Touch" 3 days per week for almost a year now. The teachers care about each child. My daughter has blossomed and is above her "grade level" in all areas. They offer Spanish, Dance Class and great meals (I think organic). They bring in entertainment and activities during the summer for camp. They go outside and play a lot, even in the snow if it is not too cold. Their new facility and indoor gym is fantastic and built for the littles. One thing I really appreciate about AMT is their honesty. They call you if your child falls down or if something happens immediately, even if it might reflect poorly on them. They are "by the book" and follow all the rules about teacher/child ratios. The hours of the facility are great for working parents. They are even open most school holidays, except major ones. I never worry about my child while she is in their capable hands. read more

We looked at 6 different centers prior to our son being born and sells the most comfortable sending him to a mother's touch. We could not have been more happy with our choice. The staff and director are excellent and our son truly loves going to school each and every day. The curriculum is great and you really feel you can see a difference in his development in comparison to other toddlers his age. My daughter has been at A Mother's Touch for 3 months now and we love it! Being a first time mom I was extremely nervous about leaving my precious little one with anyone but the women in the infant room put my mind at ease from the first moment I walked in for my observation. They truly do love the children, are down on the floor playing with them, singing to them and keeping them engaged and stimulated. The teachers also listened to my fears about leaving my daughter and I really felt like they understood them and appreciated them. Its easier leaving my daughter in the morning and seeing her happy and playing. I love getting pictures throughout the day of various activities they are doing. They do art with the babies, go on walks, and have story and music time. It's amazing! All of the children always seem so happy when I pick up my daughter. The teachers give a good daily update and are really helpful with questions that a first time mom may have. Miserable experience. Had my child there just over a year (out of desperation because it's difficult to change in the middle of the school year). I was constantly told everything my child did wrong - everything that went wrong seemed to be my child's fault. The administration was horrible and inflexible. If you love your child take them any place else! This was a very negative, dirty environment and smelled like a nursing home. read more

If you are a parent of a toddler that will be going to day care for the first time I would definately look into other options for your little one. Pluses are that the classroom is huge and beautiful with lots of space to play but it is not the warm and loving environment that I hoped it to be.We realized that what's the point of a nice big space when your child is not with warm teachers. I am realizing this even more so now as we have taken our daughter out of this school and transitioned her to another day care. I think this school would be great for older kids or even little ones that are babies going to day care for the first time. But as a toddler, my daughter had a new face/ different teacher in the classroom almost each time we dropped her off/picked her up and she was left to be alone to soothe her self when upset- either on the rug or at the table by herself. Some parents may be okay with that, but we were not, we wanted our daughter to feel cared for and comforted when sad. I did not see any of the children receiving hugs or kisses at any times we came. The day care she is at now has a much friendlier director and loving teachers that get down with the kids, give hugs, rock them, and cuddle them. I would not say that my daughter was miserable the whole time she was there- the hardest times were drop offs and pickups of course but at least i know now that at her new care she will be shown affection throughout the day, especially those sad times. So long story short- nice day care for older kids but i would not recommend it if you have a toddler starting for the first time. If you want your child to be in a warm, loving environment, we did not find that here. read more

I agree with Jennifer E. The facility is new and the rooms are reasonably big for the children to run around and play. I especially like the fact that they have cameras monitoring the facility, however; it does feel more like an operating business than a warm and nurturing childcare. It is good that they offer incident reports when something does happen to a child, but does that make it okay for incidents to happen on a daily basis? I was there yesterday and witness a child fell to the ground because the teacher left her on top of the playground stairs to tend to another child that was crying. The little girl about one year of age fell and hit her head hard on the grass. This is not a minor mistake and anyone that is not in the early educated career would know that you should never leave a child unattended in high places. I hope the little girl is okay. It seems as though they hired babysitters rather than educators (just take a look at the ages of some of their staff members). Early childhood care is not cheap and for the amount of money that you are investing you want the best care for your child emotionally, physically and mentally. They have pagers that go off constantly and the teachers are expected to listen on to see what is needed of them. I feel this causes a lot of distractions in terms of providing the best care for their students. Can you imagine watching eight kids and also constantly having to listen to what your boss is asking of you or what else is going on in another room? The place overall looks quite sanitize but the minute I walk in the front door it has this odor that reminds me of a nursing home. Another down fall is the fact that they do not use covers when changing a child's soiled diaper. They might use the disinfectant spray but I feel that they should also put down disposable paper to further protect the child from cross contaminations. read more

My son started going here when he was about 6 months old. We absolutely loved it, but when my daughter was born we pulled him out and eventually put him in a different daycare closer to our house. Long story short, that was a mistake and he and my daughter are now back at A Mother's Touch. The staff here is so friendly, and genuinely care about the kids. The only disadvantage is that it is expensive (you get what you pay for) and that they do not offer part-time care for infants. That said, it is a warm and welcoming environment to send your kids. They encourage creativity, play, and learning. I definitely recommend AMT. read more
