Worst dentist I've ever been to in my life!!! Dr. Wang is very rude rushed through to get you in and out. Doesn't communicate and see if you have any questions or concerns.plus it's so hard to understand him he doesn't speak English. He's just not nice at all. The X-ray thing sucks they couldnt fit them in my mouth and it hurt so bad. He did a cleaning in my mouth and some how chipped my tooth I went back in to tell them and the whole staff including the dentist laughed at me and didn't care what I had to say. I want to point out that the staff (the receptionists and assistants) were wonderful! They were incredibly sweet and welcoming. Although when it came to see the actual doctor (Dr. Wang). I have to say I have never been treated so terribly. I was always very comfortable with the dentist and now I see why dentists have such a bad reputation. he was very rough and he hurt me. He barely said a word to me, he wasn't communicating with me on what was going on, and when he did speak to me I didn't understand what he was saying because he barely spoke any english. I felt like a bother in his presence and I felt like he just wanted to get rid of me as soon as possible. Worst dental place ever! After getting 2 out of the 3 cavities fillings done (one on the top left and one on the bottom right), I felt a sharp pain on the side of my tongue. I forgot the dentists name but they were two Asian males, one was the dentist (mid 50s) and the other was the assistant (40s). As I got into my car, I decided to look in the mirror to see what it was. IT WAS ONE OF THEIR TEETH DIVIDER EQUIPMENT! It was like a small sharp paper divider that they put in between my bottom teeth since I had two cavities near each other, but they only worked on one. But anyways, they freakin left an equipment in my mouth on my bottom filling and it was stabbing the side of my tongue. I went back inside and went straight to the Dentist and told him. He had the audacity to still sit down and continue doing his paperwork and not tend to my care. Finally he got up, and looked inside of my mouth and brushed it off like it was nothing. DIDN'T APOLOGIZE whatsoever and just called the assistant to come tend to my care instead. The assistant is a lot nicer, but the dentist is rude and has no customer service whatsoever. Also, I have a huge fear of choking, which means the x-rays part of the procedure is the worst for me. My mouth is a rather small size, but they always have to use the biggest equipment for my mouth which causes me pain having to open so wide. It seems like they lack equipment to accommodate to your needs. So since they don't have smaller equipments, of course I had to push through and just go with it. The assistant had to hold the equipment down in my mouth while telling me to breath through my nose and relax my tongue, but how can I breathe through my nose if his fist and hand is blocking my air way?! I legit gagged like 5 times. But anyways, don't go to this place. They're rude and seem inexperience. FAST FORWARD TO A COUPLE WEEKS LATER (MAY): I went in to get a copy of my x-ray to hopefully find a better dentist place. I had read on here that many other people got charged $$ whenever they try to get their OWN paperwork or copies of x-rays, but I thought it wouldn't happen to me since those yelp reviews were years ago. BUT IT DID HAPPEN TO ME! The lady at the front desk said it was going to be a $20 charge for me to get my OWN X-RAYS. I asked "how come?" And she told me it's for the printer. Like wtf!? Is this place that broke that you can't print my own documents for me? And then she said "All doctor documents comes with a fee." I have never heard that in my life. After questioning her, she looked back at the Dentist Dr. and gave him a "oh shit we got caught" look and then changed her mind and told me it was free. This place is a SCAM! Love the horrible stars for this place. First I give them five stars because they take crappy denti-cal which is pretty difficult here in Monterey. Unless you have two years to wait to be seen. Second the cat lady assistant is funny and awesome. She informs you of everything happening and held my hand the entire time I got my impacted tooth pulled. Third the chick with the braces is kind and gentle super understanding; also explains EVERYTHING. Fourth Ashley the receptionist is the nicest lady you'll ever meet. The doctor is hella cool once you figure out how to communicate with him. He called me twice to check up after my abstraction because it was so painful and difficult. This is a great dentist- just like any medical office if you get a diagnosis before forking over a ton of money you should always get a second opinion. I've never wrote a review for a business before, but I feel like I need to this time. This was the worst dental experience I've had in my life, and it was only for a cleaning! One of the girls took probably 20 X-rays on me, she had to redo a few, and was acting like I was the one doing something wrong. Dr. Wang was very rough, knocked the glasses off of my face, and continued to work, and kept putting his fingers in my eyes! It was so uncomfortable, and I did not trust them. I'm glad I didn't cancel my appointment after reading all the bad reviews. I'm super scared of the dentist after my last experience at western dental. I've been terrified to go back to any dentist. Dr. Weidong was very kind, gentle, and made my experience fear and pain free. Had a temp crown put on until I go back in 2weeks for the permanent one. No big deal. I would also give this dental practice zero stars, if possible. The teeth cleaning they provided was definitely sub-standard. They took a full set of teeth x-rays and Dr. Wang proceeded to tell me that I had 7 cavities. I told him I didn't believe him because in 40+ years I've only had about 3 cavities and take excellent care of my teeth. He was very annoyed. He told me I could go elsewhere and that he would refuse to work on me further. I paid to have the x-rays sent to another reputable dentist and was informed I had ZERO cavities. If that isn't running a scam, I don't know what is. To try and do work on people that don't need it is beyond dishonest and also, I believe, detrimental to a person's dental health. This is the WORST experience I've ever had at a dentist! If I could give Dr. Wang a negative star rating, I would! I booked an emergency appointment yesterday afternoon for 8:30 this morning because my back tooth was in a lot of pain. My back tooth has been diagnosed as needing a root canal, however I can't afford one so I just wanted to get the tooth pulled. I informed the receptionist of that on the phone and she said I'll have to see the dentist for him to decide if the tooth is savable. My thought process is whether the tooth is savable, it's my decision as to what I want done to my teeth and if I don't want/can't afford a root canal, I shouldn't be forced to get one and pay thousands of dollars. So, after waiting nearly a half an hour in the waiting room and then another nearly 45 minutes in the dentists chair, I finally ask someone how much longer it will be. The first thing she asks is if I'd like to just come back another time, and I said no, I made this as an emergency appointment. Then she said, "Well, maybe another 10-20 minutes. I'm not sure if he's going to go back to Person A after working on Person C or if he's going to see you next. I'll ask." She was pretty nice about it, but I know she could tell that I was irritated. This dentist was juggling THREE patients at one time and making every single one of us wait a ridiculous about of time. Shortly after that conversation, the dentist walked in, I told him that I was in a lot of pain and would like to have my tooth pulled. He took a quick glance at my X-ray from a previous visit, said the tooth was savable so he wouldn't pull it, and told me if I wanted it pulled that I could go somewhere else. He was extremely rude and almost condescending. He was literally in my dental room for less than 30 seconds. I got up and immediately walked to the reception desk. As I walked by him, he said he could still prescribe me antibiotics, but I'm sure he only did so as a poor attempt to keep me as a patient. I asked the receptionist if there was any way I could have been told I wouldn't be able to have my tooth pulled over the phone yesterday without having to wait an hour to have the dentist make a decision in 10 seconds. Then I asked for a copy of my file so that I could go to another dentist and the dentist had the nerve to tell the receptionist to charge me a dollar to make a copy. I asked her why I would have to pay and she looked just as confused as I was. She said, "I'm not sure, maybe for the ink and paper? I've never had to charge anyone before." She was very nice, despite her blunt exterior. I could tell she felt bad for the situation. It appears to me that this Dentist only cares about the money. He triple books time slots so he can make as much money as possible. He also doesn't care what his patients want if stands to replace a procedure that could make him thousands of dollars. Horrible experience! Do Not go to this Dentist! Dr. Wang is terrible! Very rough, very rushed, not compassionate at all! doesn't listen, can't understand him! He screwed up on 2 fillings that I have to get re-done. I now have to have a root canal, asked to get my records for a second opinion and he got very strange, and paranoid, saying he did nothing wrong. I had nothing but problems for months after seing him. He is a jerk and should not be in practice! His staff is friendly but seem to have a hard time understanding him. This has to be the worst dentist office I have ever visited. Firstly, when calling to make an appointment, the receptionist was rude, flippant and mocking. She couldn't place me in an appointment till 4 months out - 4 months! And then when I mentioned that seems extreme, she said "you can see someone else, we don't care." - since this was the only dentist in my area to take medical I scheduled. Well, cut to 4 months later on the day of my appointment- I wasn't even in the books? I mentioned how rude the receptionist had been and was told "we've had complaints" - they took me, got my X-rays, did a cleaning, then told me that the fillings I need were not covered by medical (they are, so I believe they might be double charging patients and medical) and that my fillings would be over 1,000$ each. I told them I was going to get a second opinion, and signed a waver to get a copy of my X-rays. Well, the X-rays were not included in the paperwork I left with and when I called to get a copy they said that it costs 25$ - I won't even go into how this dentist office is located in a strip mall and set up like a nail salon. I won't even go into the sketchy people who were in the waiting room - I won't even go into how impersonal the team was. I hate going to the dentist, it gives me panic attacks but this place? I'd rather the teeth rot out of my head than step foot into this place again. read more

Bottom line- Do Not go to this establisment! Not only is Dr Wang confrontational, he places blame of anything on the patient, " it's your fault" is his go to sentence repeated every time he see's you...he will sell you on something out of pocket that you don't need (I am out $1,000 for a crown I was told I needed" to save the tooth" and the tooth directly above was actually in disrepair, pulled from the gum line and eventually had to be removed!) So there was never a need for a crown because I had no upper tooth to chew on! I went to the office and asked for my money back of $987.00 and he called the cops on me to remove me from his office and then I took him to small claims court to sue him and his side kick came along and LIED THOUGHTOUT THE ENTIRE HEARING! He portrays himself as calm cool and collected but he is a THIEF and CONARTIST and by the way, I also had a deep cleaning which was to be done in 4 quadrants of your mouth at different times for pain management and done by a Dental Hygienist and THAT procedure was done by Dr Wang because his receptionist quit and his dental hygienist was now the receptionist! The DEEP CLEANING was nothing more than a 15 minute regular cleaning, which I had already had and Dr Wang said I now needed the deep cleaning SO I did not get it done, still to this day need a TRUE DEEP CLEANING and HE CHARGED MEDI-CAL FOR A SERVICE HE DID NOT PERFORM! HE IS A THIEF AND A LIAR AND A HORRIBLE DENTIST(understatement) I would NEVER RECOMMEND!!! You have been warned! read more

I want to preface my review by saying- I'm am reporting this office and Dr Wang to OSHA and the California Dental Board of ethics. He practice of dentistry is dangerous to all. I was in the industry for over 34 years and I guess he thought I was just some dumb woman. I urge any of the people here with negative reviews to report this man and his practice to OSHA and the Dental Board. He has several plaques on his wall, but they mean nothing. He probably had them made for himself. He runs back and forth from one operatory to another without completing each patient one at a time. The cross contamination alone is a danger. He does not wash- he simply flits off gloves and grabs more with hands that are contaminated from the previous patient. As I state further on, I received NO PROPER exam. He started on my upper right and apparently thought he hit the jackpot telling me I needed a root canal on #2 and a filling on tooth #5, which was extracted in the 1960's for Orthodontics. Dentistry is a specialized service and should be treated with care, compassion and above all obey the safety rules outlined for safety by OSHA. I don't know who Maria A. is, but I was also in this office today. They triple book. I had already gone for a NP appointment in April. After waiting an hour, the entire reception office was told they were "shorthanded" and couldn't see everyone. It appears they like to reschedule NP when in a pinch (I also observed this today). I was rescheduled for June 14th, only to be called and have that canceled because the doctor would not be in. So, I went to the appointment today. They do triple book. This guy hasn't a clue how to manage his time. I was in the dental field 34 years and I've never seen anything like it. All I wanted was my exam and prophylaxis. It was 1 hour 45 minutes past my appointment time that I was seated. I did have x-rays in a timely manner. The doctor came in to begin my exam and got up to leave and do a procedure on the patient to the right of me. Then, he went into the room to the left of me and took care of a woman who came in for a much later appointment. When he came back to me- he didn't even do an exam. You chart a New Patient and show extraction sights, crowns, do pocket charting. This guy doesn't even look in my mouth. He says I need a MOD filling on tooth #5. I don't have number 5. He argued with me... He told me they couldn't do my appointment because they ran so late all morning and they now need to close for lunch. I explained how long I waited and he still said they couldn't do my complete appointment. I went to the front desk to schedule another appointment. He told the receptionist to schedule a filling and give estimate for a root canal on tooth #2. Lucky for him, I do have #2. I was floored with an estimate of $4,140.00. I was referred to this guy by my medi-cal. I'm not a flake. I worked 45 years. I became sick and have not been able to work for the past ten years and I am disabled. I thought about contacting medi-cal and telling them about this joke of an office. But, as my sister-in-law said to me tonight, "they won't care". By the time I walked out of this office, I had been there over THREE HOURS. If you have your whole day to sit around and be treated like a cattle drive, then you won't mind this guy. If you are looking for a professional that gives his patients his time and consideration- find someone else. BTW, while I was there they turned away a NP. She arrived ON TIME for her appointment. She was told since she did not call back to confirm her appointment, she was removed from the schedule. As I stated, I was in this field 34 years. I have never seen such an unprofessional office. And - I may be old school, but should your receptionist have magenta glitter eye shadow and tattoos showing. Not appropriate for work. I haven't been to the dentist in YEARS so I was nervous to begin with. Ill give it to these guys, I probably wasn't the easiest patient to deal with since I was antsy and concerned about pain. BUT lord these guys were so rough with me. They kept sticking the X-ray piece passed my teeth and down my throat asking over and over if I was going to gag, then they never went over my X-rays with me, and went staright to cleaning my teeth. I asked if it was going to hurt and he got snappy with me and told me to "stop talking". As he was cleaning my teeth I kept feeling a sharp stabbing and I told him it hurt, he looked at me and told me "no it doesnt!"... Shortly after, I tasted blood and when I went to say something he sprayed the water up my nose. I sat up coughing and the Dr. literally told me "this is why you need to go to the dentist often." Overall this was such a bad expirience, I surely wont be going back. read more

"DR.WANG" Not only is there a HUDGE LANGUAGE barrier, Wang had his receptionist explain all my personal dental problems in front of aprox. 6 patients in the lobby. When I asked if we could please talk in private I was told by receptionist(with Wang present) "well, we really don't have a consultation room." I was beyond mortified! When I asked for medicine for my pain (my mollars & wisdoms impacted) Wang sarcastically in front of other patients replied "I give you ibrofen." Please do not support this man! This office pulled the old bait and switch on prices. I was given prices on the phone (an estimate) and when I arrived, the amount quoted was more that doubled at the front desk, BEFORE I had even been examined by the dentist. This is not my first rodeo, no other office has ever had such a difference between a quoted price and the price on the day of the appointment. As I was cash, they wanted payment before I went back for an exam. I was told that I was being given a five percent discount. No way is this true. The receptionist was rude and unprofessional. I heard about this place from a friend which I'm glad I didn't listen to all the whiny reviewers on this site, so thought I'd give it a try since western dental will either rip your tooth out or charge you $1700 for 1 root canal. My first visit was amazing! The dentist was very caring to me and to all his patients that were there at the time. He actually took his time talking with me about what needed to be done. For one denti-cal covers root canals at his office so I will not be having any of my teeth pulled out and they use porcelain to cap and fill! So I won't be rocking a metal grill! And denti-cal covers bridges/partials so I can get one to fill where western dental decided to rip out 5 teeth because they had cavities! People make mistakes sometimes even thehighest paid wrk known dentist have made mistakes on my teeth. So about the negative comments and reviews I think it's poor judgment on your end because if you had a problem you should have had it fixed right away which I'm sure they'd been glad to help! Though the receptionist, Ashley, is wonderful, Dr. Wang (the dentist) and his assistant are terrible. If you have the option for going to someone else, take it. For my cleaning, Dr. Wang never even used any cleaning tools - just looked in my mouth, and then had his assistant polish. I'm someone who likes to be informed about my treatment, but they acted very annoyed when I asked any questions about all the work he wanted to do (including implants and a bridge, which after much research and consulting other dentists, I've discovered is totally unnecessary), and I basically wound up giving up. They had forced me to pre-pay for a procedure that he then realized he couldn't do because he didn't have all the necessary elements on hand, and when I asked for a refund, they insisted I pay the $7 fee from their credit card company. I hope I can find another decent dentist who takes detical in the area. read more
