I am a huge proponent…read morefor supporting local businesses and after my conversation with Troy this afternoon, I wouldn't want my first review (written out of frustration) to steer anyone away from getting service at this shop. First and foremost, Troy was honest and fair, as well as kind. He was easy to talk to and willing to hear me out. He also rectified the situation right away. We ended on a good note and I told him that I would be happy to bring our business back to their garage. At the end of the day, a little communication and understanding go a long way for all parties involved. I truly appreciate Ken's Garage for just taking a moment to talk through things with me, and in turn, making them right. The business is run by a genuinely good man and good people.

I would definitely give 5 stars on communication regarding the diagnostic, communicating findings,…read moreand explaining it to the customer. This part was impeccable. I would give 2-3 stars on car being done in the timeframe promised, because it wasn't. My beef is that the quote I received for the needed part had a price of ~$525. I called the dealership and an original part would cost me (non-mechanic) ~$350. I can buy the non-original part at O'Reilly's for ~$264, but most mechanic shops get parts cheaper than off-street customers. When I called and asked Ken's if the quoted part was a dealership original, I was told no. When I asked if the part price was in error, they said no, we have to make money somewhere, but we don't use an 80% markup. Clearly the guy I spoke to doesn't know how to calculate markup percentages. I expect a shop to add a percentage onto a part. That is certainly fair. But, ~200% gross mark-up is way outside of standard mechanic practices. And, that calculation is using the price I can buy it for, not a licensed mechanic's shop. Our mechanic of 25 years used to charge 20-25% above his cost. I have heard of 50 - 100% markup. Ken's Garage is having the parts delivered and they rarely go pick up the parts. I think 200+% markup is way too expensive, but they have right to charge 500% markup, if they want. But, I will be going elsewhere. We are still shopping for a local mechanic that we feel comfortable with. I got the impression, they have good, qualified mechanics. My husband questioned a few things on the invoice that was not approved. He is a non-conflict person, and at that point, he just paid them. I am glad this shop works well for many in the community. I am glad this small-owned business is doing well. I am a small business owner and I want small business owners to be supported and thrive. But, I prefer ones that do it with reasonable prices (again, subjective). Name above is our on-line pseudo name, due to vindictive, malicious people in this world. I do not want a response from the shop because it is what it is. My experience and perspective aren't the same as the owner's perspective and it isn't the same as other customers. This is my experience.

He diagnose your vehicle problem and never sugar coats the issues going on with it. You will feel valued vs dollar signs when you walk in their doors. Dave's automotive prices is at or better in the industry.

While I went there to get my front brakes fixed, they quickly informed me that I needed ALL of my brakes fixed. I was quoted a very reasonable price. However, once they really got into my car, the price more than doubled. I am not complaining one bit. Most places would've fixed the bare minimum, but these guys went above and beyond to make sure the car was safe For my family to drive. They did an incredible job and just by fixing the brakes the ride is so much smoother. All their parts have a warranty. You will be getting a quality service and you will definitely get your moneys worth and peace of mind. Very refreshing to find someone so knowledgeable and also looking out for your best interest. I would definitely recommend, and I will be taking them all of my business from now on.

Went to get them installed and was told they did not have them. I reordered and the same thing happened. After going through this several times. I bought my tires somewhere else. Another time I would have squeak in the rear when it was wet. They went out and pushed on my car bumper and said I needed struts without looking. I disagreed. I went to the dealer, and they came out and looked under the car. The problem was the design. The parking brake cable went through an eye, and the outer covering of the cable wore off because of the bouncing.

She answered the phone during my first call with "Hello??" like it was her personal cell phone or something, then was scatterbrained in person when I came for the estimate. I made an appointment for weeks out with the promise of a reminder call. First, the day they said they'd call to confirm the appointment came and went. It was snowy so I gave them a brake. Then, the date of the appointment came and went. NO call, no text, no email, nothing. Then two weeks later she had the audacity to call me acting as if I was the one who forgot. It was a small thing, but there's plenty of auto shops I can go to and I'm not giving my car to one who communicates poorly. I rely on it heavily and I need clear communication and timely updates.
