Took a class here over the weekend and I'm so glad I did! I have nothing but great things to say about Anna and her colleagues. She's an incredible teacher with really great intrapersonal skills. I wasn't too sure what to expect, but she was so kind, knowledgeable and made the entire class feel super comfortable. Additionally, the shop has an incredible variety of beads, pendants, findings, books and just about anything you need to make jewelry. Whether you're a novice or super experienced, you're sure to feel welcomed here. P. S. Gold plated and gold filled items are available for purchase (yay!)

Repaired/restrung bracelet. Chain for the bill portion replaced, as well.

I have no idea what people are talking about in regards to the service, as my experience was above and beyond. I emailed with Christina, asking if a repair could be done on a bracelet that was gifted to me (not from this store) that broke. The bracelet holds sentimental valued so I was hoping for a repair. She was so responsive and quick. She was able to receive photos and let me know if she think if the bracelet could be repaired/restrung. I was missing a chain for the bolo bracelet, as it was lost when the bracelet broke. I brought the bracelet in. Christina was able to take a look and definitively tell me what could be/needed to be done. The repair was quick and the pricing was beyond reasonable.

Went in to look for supplies to do some repairs. Then decided to let the owner take care of it. She fixed both necklaces right there. Shame on me for not getting her name. But she was super helpful and is reasonably priced. Great selection of beads and findings.

I respond deeply to gestures of goodwill and trust from a business. This was the opposite. My interactions with a member of the leadership team left me feeling talked down to rather than respected. When I raised concerns about communication, the response was not to acknowledge the experience but to repeatedly defend and cite policy. The emails were unnecessarily long, defensive, unprofessional, and patronizing. My concerns and request for a middle ground were met with condescending rhetorical questions and comparisons that completely missed the point. Look beneath the glossy branding and the environment feels cold, transactional, and sterile. To me, that's not a place that fosters creativity. A business can have firm policies while still treating customers with generosity and respect. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.

I've taken art classes at community colleges before and I do notice a differance in the level of information, communication, and style at Art Center. I took a design and composition class and really do feel I was stretched but not uncomfortably so. The information my teacher provided was well commicated, easy to understand, and most importantly I was able to understand the underlying concepts of what I was learning and apply it to real world design problems. I really like how interactive and collabortative the environment feels. If you're looking for a creative outlet, ACN is a good option. They're expanding so maybe they will have more classes. The neat thing is that some of these courses can be used as credit towards your study if you're admitted into Art Center. Many people here use this as a springboard into Art Center.

Our son is naturally quiet and shy, but Mrs. Billy has helped him build confidence by encouraging him to express his own ideas and interests in his artwork and we can't thank her enough for how that has helped him come out of his shell in the classroom and beyond! Mrs. Billy also takes the time after class to update us and offer insights and constructive feedback on his creative growth. Based on our experience, I'd advise parents to take negative reviews with a grain of salt. All the teachers and staff here are genuinely so nice and unlike programs that focus mainly on copying pictures, Art/Work/Place balances technical skill building with creativity, imagination, and play. As someone who works as a designer in the gaming industry and has an art background, I can honestly say they're teaching kids the right way to learn art. It's a place where he receives careful supervision and instruction but it's also a place where he feels free to create and his style and quirks are appreciated. At the recommendation of his teacher at his elementary school, my son recently submitted a portfolio and completed a supervised exam to be considered for entry into a respected conservatory for students who show promise in the visual arts- this conservatory hosts this admission process once a year, so it's a big deal and there are a TON of kids and it's very competitive. The exam portion includes completing a still life and a free draw, both supervised. My son passed and is now under consideration. It's true he has some God-given talent and drive, but we could not have given our son the guidance that Art/Work/Place provided, and he had been attending this studio for about six/seven months by the time he submitted his portfolio. We actually didn't even tell Art/Work/Place or Ms Billy that our son was going to be doing this or submitting any kind of portfolio, so whatever they taught him they were teaching to other students and without prejudice. He went from drawing quirky and funny pictures at home to composing quite beautiful and sophisticated still life pieces, and I have been so impressed by how much more motivated my son is to really create on his own. Bottom line, my son loves this studio, it's one of his safe spaces, and Ms Billy has been so encouraging and so kind and enthusiastic, and she was so proud to hear about our son's accomplishment. Right now we just want to see how far he will go here. We really appreciate all they do.

If you venture past the rainbow quilts all the way to the back you will find a treasure trove of Juki sewing machines, set to host a group of new to advanced sewers along with a large table area in the back for a variety of craft projects. My children are in 1st and 4th grade and enjoyed the 2 part Crochet class. When it was a bit difficult for my younger one, Debbie scaffolded the entire thing and made it possible for her to learn, feel successful, and feel like part of the group. We have also tried the finger knitting blanket class and now my 4th grader can make gorgeous blankets for friends and family. The sewing classes for 8+ are incredible. My eldest has loved going in to learn how to make tote bags, pillow cases, and a variety of other sewing projects. They also have camps, which we are eager to try someday. Most recently we hosted a very special birthday party here and I can share that it was incredible, lovely, and probably the most present I've ever been able to be at one of my kid's birthday parties, considering Debbie took on most of the labor! 11 children made pillows together, along with adorable rainbow keychains and they really had a blast. I was so impressed to see my little one sewing away on the machine with her dad next to her and the older kids jump right in. Many of them made 2-3 little pillows, even though they had never sewn before! Debbie's instruction is clear, easy to follow, and she has a great deal of patience while sharing how to create these masterpieces. It was really nice having mochi ice cream in the middle table area too- Debbie had everything needed for a party in case things were forgotten. The little fridge helped too! It was very reasonably priced and an unforgettable experience for the kids. We hope Meraki will be on this cute corner for many years to come!
