There's a huge selection of unlimited charms and icing colors to choose from. But warning!! Don't grab too many charms because whatever you don't use, you have to put it back. The table stations have all the tools you need to decorate your items from tweezers, glue, scissors, etc. The employees are super sweet. They showed us a demo and assisted us in putting our charms back. The parking was easy and cheap. There's a del mar parking lot right around the corner across the street from the gas station. You can take one of the classes they offer as part of their regular catalog, or for a little more, you can create your own class with a group of friends. I opted for the latter, and we had an *incredible* time. I put together two separate groups of a dozen of us, and we made stunning kiln-carved glass plates that I continue to use today. The process was made simple courtesy of the studio's talented staff. They broke the instructions down into bite-sized pieces for us. All we did was follow their step-by-step instruction on what to do to create our unique works of art. They were also available to all of us to help when we got stuck, had questions, or needed some extra talent. The staff also made the kiln-carving process easier for us by taking care of all the kiln work. All we did was select our materials and create our designs. They sent it through the kiln for the two-part fusion so we didn't need to come back after the first fire. Don't know where to start? I had a fun experience at my first rug tufting here! Located within the Atlantic blvd plaza so…read moreunderground parking is easy. The spot looks a little small, but they have private back rooms to work on your rugs. One of the hardest parts for us was having a design ready! That maybe took an hour lol I would come with multiple designs in mind and to make sure the color blocking is larger, especially for your first time. After we chose our design, we got a lesson on how to use the tufting guns and especially the safety of how to hold them because the needle is quite sharp. We were then set up with our rugs, and got underway. You trace your design with markers first with a projection. When you start tufting, the key is to have a steady hand, try as best to evenly space your rug lines as you go and keep a good pace, and only doing one color at a time. After this they will show you how to save down your rug and then will add the backing for you because the glue/iron is very hot. This spot was conveniently located to grab drinks and snacks at nearby businesses. Overall a really fn experience and Iove seeing my new rug everyday!

We decided on the small rug which was $98. Once we got there we were greeted by the worker and waited a few minutes for them to set up our tufting stations. Remember to bring your design on your phone to show them! The worker was really nice, he guided us throughout the whole process. He demonstrated how to properly used the tufting gun and his tips to remember when using it. First, they project your design on the canvas for you to trace. After, you start the tufting process which took a long timee. My hands would cramp up and my back got tired from standing. They do have chairs for you to sit on but I found it was harder for me to put enough pressure on the canvas when I sat down lol. I think they have a good selection of primary colored yarns to choose from, but I think they could have more shades of colors. This part took the longest! I was worried that we wouldn't finish in our appointment time which was 3-6pm but they were very lenient and said we could take as long as we want or even come back another time to finish it. So we ended up staying till 3-9pm. Once you are satisfied with it the worker showed us how to cut and shave the rug for the final product! The vibe is community, support, growth and education, vs the "churn and burn" mentality of other studios. The teachers are all excellent and owner/teacher Amy has extensive knowledge in all areas of ceramics. I have learned wheel throwing, hand building, slip cast mold making, glaze formulation, nerikomi, marbling, mono-printing, and luster applications--just to name a few! The studio is generous with provided tools, a huge reference library, oxides, glazes, storage areas and open studio hours. This is truly a community and I've met some amazing people here.
