A Plus Barber has been my favorite barbershop since 2017. You can't find barbers that use straight razors and give cleaner haircuts for $25 + tip anywhere else in San Jose. I recommend you get a haircut from the owner, Thanh, and the younger Vietnamese woman that works two seats to Thanh's right (I need to ask her name next time). Anyone other than those two are newer barbers, and I personally did not like my last haircut from the older Vietnamese woman. I can't speak for anyone else's haircutting skills other those three. Be warned that unless you call ahead, you'll probably have to wait at least 5-10 minutes before they are ready for you. The haircuts themselves usually take 20-30 minutes. read more

I've been coming here since I moved to the neighborhood over 5yrs ago and many of the barbers are great. My original barber at this shop moved to another state and my other, recently went on maternity leave. So you can say, I've had consistent haircuts by at least 3 barbers and I'll keep coming back. I tried all sorts of other shops in SJ in the past and they were either expensive, inconsistent or didn't know how to fade AND cut long straight hair with scissors. I have thick black Asian hair and A+ Barber know how to fade the sides and also cut the hair on top. A+ Barber is accustomed to cutting all sorts of hair textures and styles. More of a barber shop but I've seen them cut and dye women's hair as well. Everyone is experienced with cutting children's hair too. Language is not an issue but you might raise your eyebrow at the politeness. They're actually really nice! read more

I've been going to this barber for 13 years as of 2025. There were some times I stopped going and tried other places as well but each time I've come back to them, the quality and experience was as good as, or better than the other places. Thanh and Caroline know me and what I like and give me the most consistent high-quality hair cut (I'm an 50+ man). I've had cuts by the other barbers there and it was a little more hit or miss. I like that they will include shaving areas around my ears and neck to make the cut look clean. Their shop is clean and they have always been very professional when I've been there. I am very happy with their service and I would recommend them for any man who would like a good cut at a good price. read more

I've tried many other places even the fancy places with nice chairs and beers on tap and they still can't seem to get it on this level. I wanted to let everyone know that I recently started to bring my son who has special needs non verbal to this barber shop, all of the staff in these barber shop are very helpful, understanding, accommodating, very friendly, accepting of my son's needs, my son is not the easiest but they do everything to make him comfortable as possible as he gets his hair cut. My son cries a lot because of sensory problems, May it be the noise of the clippers buzzing around his head or the blow dryer around him, they take their time to cut his hair and make him feel comforted while he cries, eventually they got him to enjoy it. They ask for your preference and pretty much ignore you. This maybe because their English is a suspect. I wasn't happy after I told her more than 5 times for a specific simple instruction. Just one simple instruction. After I realized she messed me up, another lady came out trying to smooth it out. She said it is free, but I paid. Because She tried at least. There is not much you can do when it is all gone. My question is if you don't understand, wouldn't you ask again or ask another person to interpret it. When you chop off the hair, it is over.
