Honestly, I used to enjoy the other crab spot out by Great Lakes crossing, but they closed abruptly! This crab place it's good, but they do not give you enough sauce for your crab boil. I've been craving a seafood boil lately and a friend recommended we try this place. The building is really cute outside and inside! There's also a little playground outside. We walked in without reservations and we're seated right away. We got our drinks and apps fairly quickly as well. We really liked the cute fishbowl cocktail. It was evenly mixed and tasted great! I had a few questions about how portions worked compared to weight and our server was easily able to answer without getting too technical. We did not have to wait long at all to get our food either. The seafood boils came out in a tied bag on a tray and a trash can, bibs, gloves, a shell cracker, and shell splitter were given to us for ease of eating. As soon as we poured those bags onto our trays our mouths were watering. It looked so good and it tasted even better. We both got the A+ seasoning which is all of their seasonings mixed together and we liked it a lot. My sister got it with a medium spice level and said she didn't taste much spice as if it was a mild spice level like what I got but still tasted good. The seafood was fresh as well. I loved the snow crab legs and they were decently sized too. It wasn't too loud inside and not too busy for a Friday night and we enjoyed ourselves a lot. The utmost Delicious seafood I have had in Great Lake. Great prices, good service and a spacious place great for big groups. The shrimp was big, the crab was delicious and the crawfish was all priced for quality and quantity. This establishment IMO doesnt excessively OVER charge for extra items like potatoes, eggs and corn. Just overall great seafood Boil prices. The Hot Garlic Butter style boil I had was so delicious and you pretty much mix it up yourself. The catfish bites were also fabulous. Crispy coated delights with a nice amount of fries included. The seafood boils were delicious! BUT BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD RECEIPTS, ESPECIALLY AFTER THE ORGINAL DATE OF SALE!!!!! We tipped the wait staff with cash, wrote -0- credit card tip on the receipt! After checking our credit card, the correct amount was charged without a tip, which was correct. The next day, we were charged 26% gratuity on the credit card. After speaking to Richard, he stated that the wait staff thought we wanted to give them the cash along with the 26% WRONG!!!!! My daughter made a special trip to the restaurant so that Richard could credit the credit card. It's definitely worth going for the experience! Admittedly, I don't like spicy food, so "Cajun" isn't my jam but I went here to celebrate a birthday. It was a great time! Our server was excellent! Drinks were delicious, strong enough, and served quickly. The place was clean. We ordered the boiled seafood, which they bring out in an inflated plastic bag on a plate and untie for you. They provide you with a bib, gloves, trash can on the table, forks, napkins, etc. there are even sinks available to wash your hands instead of going to the bathroom. For my meal, I chose mild spice level and it was still too spicy for my liking but I tolerated it and obviously, that's the flavor of the business. Service is always good. I've had a lot of seafood places and have also worked in some as well. The seafood here is really good with its flavors. Surprisingly enough, I really enjoy their wings the most. It's a nice restaurant that I wouldn't expect to see in a place like Michigan, but I'd consider it a hidden gem. The crab legs here are great. That snap when you break them. Got ours Cajun. Not sure about other seafood because it had crab in the business name. They need to manage large groups better. Had one waitress that had out table and two large groups of 10 or more each. Had to request a new server because she was overwhelmed. 2 tables seated after us got service because there server didn't have large tables and weren't required to assist each other. This would normally put it at lower stars but will keep an eye out next time. read more

Hey hey, welcome to the building formerly known as Joe's Crab Shack. Same concept - new ownership. I'm not the biggest seafood fan but the atmosphere and the experience was definitely A+. And the food was actually pretty good too. We got the calamari appetizer with tartar sauce. It's well flavored with a crumbly crunch - not to salty and goes well with the sauce. This is not on the menu and it doesn't come with anything. Don't confuse this with the calamari under the 'basket' section. The kids meal which isn't pictured was chicken tenders and fries and yes I definitely stole some from my kid to taste test and hey - not bad! He absolutely loved the fries though. Now to the main attraction, the seafood. We got 2 combos - the bomb and deadly hungry. They bring you each combo in a clear inflated plastic bag but you can request for them to put it in a tray like we did since I think it's easier to eat that way. The gloves were a little big and the bibs too and the tools aren't the best but hey we will probably bring our own next time haha. The flavors of everything was good though except for the broccoli and potatoes. BUT, you can balance the salty broccoli with the bland potatoes and it's perfecto! Our waitress (Jasmine I think) was fantastic and I like the two sinks out in the open for you to wash your hands. It's a nice to not have to wash your hands in the bathroom! read more

This restaurant is still reminiscent of the Joe's Crab Shack that it used to be. Our drinks were good - the perfect mix of sweetness and alcohol for our lunch date. Service was good and our food arrived very quickly. It was perfectly fried - the perfect crispness in fried seafood. There's a play yard connected to the patio for littles if they are joining you for your meal. There is also a Jack Sparrow ish statue that greets you at the front door. Sitting in his lap is a fun picture opp. This restaurant is a good place for fried seafood, but they do have a large selection of non fried food options. In all, a great place to take a break and fill your gullet while you are shopping at Great Lakes Crossing. read more

We both ordered the fried catfish basket with sweet potato fries The portions were fine. You get 4 pieces of well coated fish. We had a very good dinner at A+. The service is excellent and the shellfish, overall, is very good. My only complaint is regarding the menu. I wish the restaurant allowed for a little more freedom in the combo plates. I love the choice of flavors and spice levels. The freshness of the fish was very good. This is a very interesting crab-centric restaurant. The menu offers multiple options to enjoy snow crab as well as other crab and shellfish options including: crawfish, shrimp, lobster, king crab, scallops, Dungeness crab, Mussels. They also have fried fish options: Catfish, Tilapia, Shrimp. Most of the dishes are served in a plastic bag that includes the seasoning. You can choose the level of heat (mild-medium-hot) as well as the blend of spice between Cajun, garlic and butter or A+ (combination of both). This is a different dining experience than your used to. The plastic bag keeps the seafood nice and warm and tender while you work on removing the shell from your crab/lobster/shrimp/mussels,etc. Our server did a nice job with eight in our party and one toddler. We didn't have to ask for our beverages to be refilled. Got to like that. If you're looking for a unique seafood dining experience you'll like this restaurant. read more

So my wife, my friends and I decided to get dinner together tonight at a restaurant in Warren, MI which ended up having "take out only." No problem so we decided to take a drive a bit further away to A+ Crab and boy were we sure thankful the other place had take out only. This was our first time here and we were amazed and wowed from the start! The employees are extremely friendly and very informative. For appetizers we ordered the hush puppies and fried okra and they were so good (highly recommend). I ordered a "make your own seafood bag" and ordered 1 lb crawfish, 1/2 lb green muscles, 1/2 lb head on shrimp, and 1/2 lb clams in the A+ Crab seasoning (signature recipe) and (4) spice level. Each pound of seafood you order you get a few potatoes and a couple corn on the cobs, which were perfectly cooked. My wife ordered one of the premade steam bags that are available and it had shrimp and lobster , I had a sample of it and it was just as good as mine...almost . The restaurant decor is great also. They have a really nice ocean mural on one side of the building and a nice looking bar on the other side of the restaurant. I'm not sure if this is what the place looked like before it was A+ Crab (for those of you that are familiar with the previous restaurant), but it's new to us and we thought the decor and ambiance was great. The waitress told us at the beginning that this type of eating style (steamed in a bag) was supposed to be fun and messy. So I got my hands as messy (gloves optional) as possible. And when you are done getting messy there are a couple sinks that are outside of the restrooms near the eating area to wash your dirty hands. Setting in the old Hoes Crab Shack building, I would say that they e made some nice cosmetic changes. The food on the other hand is sub par for a restaurant with its specialty in the name and only serving it's specialty. The flavor is spot on but the cook is where they lost the deal. The shrimp was far too over cooked and the same for the lobster. The prices are high but I would guess that's kind of normal for seafood. Best guess is give it a expensive try and be your own judge. read more

Don't let the run down look of the exterior fool you. They remodeled the interior from the previous seafood restaurant and it's bright and clean inside. The food was delicious my family and I loved it. The banana pudding dessert was also very tasty. Hush puppy app was the best I've had, usually they are so dry but l not here. Stopped in to check it out. Ordered a dozen raw oysters and snow crab and head on shrimp bag. The oysters weren't terribly fresh but edible. The crab was super small and the shrimp refused to peel. I let the waitress know about the shrimp and she said she would ask the chef about it. She came back and said that shrimp are sometimes that way and they should still taste good. She expected me to eat them shell on Long story short the food quality is pretty bad and the service is just OK. They have a bar but no beer or wine to go with it.
