I haven't been to a Rainforest Cafe in decades. Literally over two decades at the one in Tysons, VA. I'm visiting family and we brought my nephew's two young sons. They loved it! We adults enjoyed the animated animals too. Food was good; comparable to a TGI Fridays. I had their chicken quesadilla. It was large for an appetizer. That being, the sour cream and salsa side was barely a scant tablespoonful. A tablespoon of guacamole would have made this dish complete. My sister had the fish and chips. She said they were OK. She took one of the three pieces home. I'm glad we came here before going to the aquarium. It's a great place to take kids to enjoy the ambience. read more

Took my girlfriend as she had asked we do so after my soccer game. We both enjoyed that atmosphere with the sounds and fish swimming in the tanks. The service was amazing as our waitress was friendly and prompt. Always bringing refills right as we needed them without asking. Our food was delicious as always. It's nostalgia that brings me through the doors of the Rainforest Cafe. With that said, I was mildly surprised by our visit. The restaraunt was very quiet on the day we dined there, with only two other parties seated. Our waitress was SO NICE, she really was fantastic! The table was a little sticky, and we had to request different silverware because ours were a little grimy. The food is... ok. Our side salads were surprisingly fresh and crunchy with some pretty spot on house made ranch. Our entrees were mediocre but decent enough to eat without complaint. The food came out hot, and though some parts of the dishes did seem "previously frozen", nothing tasted bad or was downright gross. Overall, though Rainforest Cafe will never be something to rant and rave about food wise, we didn't have a bad time! We mostly came for that good ol' dose of nostalgia, and the Cafe did indeed deliver on that front. Pro tip: request a seat by the aquariums! read more

I like to bring my toddler here once a year to see how he interprets and reacts to the sights and sounds as he grows up. The aquariums are awesome and plentiful. I wish they had a better roster of the fish in each tank so we can search and find while waiting for our food. I love the constellation ceiling. The animals are a little clunky, but it's fun to see my kid react to the performance. Service is great. Food is subpar. We came on a day where kids meals are 99 cents, which is awesome! I have seen nearly every storefronts and business in Great Lakes Crossing come and go, but Rainforest Cafe is one of the few that have withstood the test of time. It is a place I have been twice in my life, once as a kid because I think it gears mostly towards kids, so my parents brought me here once. And then maybe 30-some odd years later, my friend and I went recently because we were just curious about it! Turns out, truly nothing has changed about this place. It is exactly as I remember it, the kitschy animal calls and makes you feel like you're dining in "a jungle". It's hilariously...camp. The food is not good here, no offense, but it just isn't. Everything feels a little old and outdated. But I'm sure this Rainforest Cafe will still remain long past my dying days hahahaha! Stopped by Rainforest Cafe on a Tuesday night. Minimal wait and the service was quick and friendly. Unfortunately, the food is priced too high for what you get. Everything my party had was not very good (again, especially with those prices) and the drinks were very watered down. I've come on a separate occasion just for the volcano and the ambiance and that was much better. I would say skip dinner and just come for the nostalgia and the desert! read more

The experience was cool the waiters were nice. The wait was about an hour for good not great food.

First off- this has nothing to do with the waitstaff! The waitress was attentive and kind. The food however was not edible. 3 meals, one came out wrong. One was undercooked, the 3rd, so overcooked and chewy. The manager did comp the meals I guess? He said he would take care of it, and we waited, expecting someone to come back with the tab. We finally just left some money on the table and left ‍ Super disappointing as we were excited to go somewhere different and fun for the kids. Not groundbreaking but nostalgic! I can't say the food here is top notch quality, especially for the price, but that's to be expected with a restaurant like this. Also took a while to get my food and it was quite empty in there. It was fresh and hot at least! What I can say is that the service is very friendly and the atmosphere brings back a lot of nostalgia from going to Rainforest Cafes as a kid! To start this review I have nothing bad to say about the service, the staff is very kind and attentive, the rainforest environment is slightly outdated but fun and great for kids however when it comes to the food it is extremely disappointing, the prices are absurd for how it tastes, i had a burger that had no flavor at all and had the texture of wet mushy playdoh, the fries were okay but nothing to brag about and the cheese curds we got as an appetizer weren't even warm some were cold in the center, it's sad because i once loved this place however the food quality is just not worth the price you're paying, overall i think it was just very disappointing and i will not be returning read more

Came here with family on a Sunday afternoon after church. When we got there, it wasn't too busy and got seated right away, but it did fill up by the time we left! I ordered the fried shrimp platter and a side Caesar salad. I would have given this a 3 star because of my food and my dad's food. The shrimp wasn't very impressive to me, I've had better. My dad also got the shrimp sampler and he wasn't very fond of it. The food portions were good though. My husband got the Bimini chicken and he loved it. My mom and sister got lasagna and Alfredo pasta and they both enjoyed theirs as well, so that's why I'm giving this 4 stars. The service was good, our server was very attentive and kind. And I believe if you took kids here, they would be here for a treat because the atmosphere was so cute and they had animals all over like the rainforest. read more

I agree with other reviews that say that Rainforest Cafe is best on weekends, and it is really geared towards kids under 8 years old or so. If you are in the mall and are planning a "big event" or "special treat", you should have a great experience here. It's right next door to SeaLife and just a short walk from LegoLand, so it's a perfect location to eat when visiting those locations. The food was surprisingly good. I had the pastalaya, which was a little salty but really good. Huge portions, especially the desserts. The restaurant was clean and well managed, our waitress was really fun and did a fantastic job. Our kids had fun watching the animatronics show and enjoyed the aquarium next to our table. If you have really young kids, the show might be a little intense for them. The bathrooms are right next to the huge elephants and I saw two small children (like 2 or 3) who were pretty upset by the display. All of the other kids I saw were having an awesome time, so your mileage may vary. Be warned that there is a gift shop, and it's almost impossible to enter or exit without getting roped into that mess. They do have a full bar, so maybe you can treat yourself to some liquid patience while you are enjoying all of the excitement. Have fun! read more

The Rainforest Cafe is a great place to celebrate birthdays. My daughter asks to come here every year and loves all the animals surrounding the dining room. The fish tanks at the entrance and inside the restaurant are a nice touch. My children could spend all day staring at the colorful fish swimming around. We had a reservation on a busy Friday evening and still had to wait about 30 minutes before getting seated. My children were starving and restless by that point. We ordered for them right away, but it took a while to get their food. Our waitress apologized as the kitchen was backed up. The food was fresh and our kids enjoyed their meals though. I'm always weary about fruit at restaurants because they're not always good. But the apple and orange slices were indeed fresh and my kids enjoyed them. The mac and cheese, pizza, shrimp, and hot dog dishes they ordered were eaten. To me, that's all I wanted. When we come here, my kids finish their food. I ordered the Amazon chicken fajitas. It's a really big entree. I was able to eat, share, and still took a box home. The food was great. We ordered the big volcano dessert to sing happy birthday to our girl. She loved it! Some of the waitstaff came out to sing with us and had a candle for her to blow out. It was an obvious favorite. Overall, it was a nice evening and a fun family dinner. Rainforest Cafe is one of those places I've only heard of through word of mouth, but never considered visiting myself. It's not so much that I didn't have the desire to go, just didn't think we had one within a reasonable distance. As fate would have it, my family and I paid a visit to Great Lakes Crossing and stumbled upon a Rainforest Cafe (I say that jokingly because it's really hard to miss). The first thing you will notice after going through their gift shop is the entirety of the restaurant is covered with a lush green canopy to create the illusion of a dense tropical jungle. There are robotic animals all over the walls that randomly come to life as you're having dinner. I found this aspect of the experience to be cool at first, but I grew tired of the tigers roaring as they can be very loud especially since we sat next to them. The menu is very large and similar to something you would see at an Outback Steakhouse or Chili's. My wife opted for the blackened salmon and I went with the Chinese Chicken Salad. We got my son a variety of kid friendly items like chicken tenders, fries and some fruit which he inhaled. I will say despite not being super busy when we arrived I felt the restaurant was understaffed, therefore it took a bit to get our food and bill in a timely manner. This can be a bit bothersome if you have impatient or hungry children, but the kids settled in well enough. So to summarize this is a great option for a family lunch or dinner that the kids will enjoy. Food is average to above average and very pricey, but it's understandable considering how much it likely costs to maintain the decor and run all the electrical equipment (the power in the restaurant went down temporarily right after we left). I think you should try this place at least once, but I admit it's not for everybody. read more

it's actually really good the service was great and the detail it was honestly amazing.

We put our name on the list at 3 pm and was told an hour to an hour and a half. It took over two hours to be seated, 4 adults and 1 child. We ordered a chili con queso app, the waitress asked if we wanted to add the beef, we said no. It took 25 minutes for chips and cheese to come out. By the time our meals hit the table it had been and hour and 15 minutes. My fiancés sandwich was inedible, the bread was so hard his teeth couldn't even go through it. We sent it back and didn't even want anything else cause we didn't want to wait. By the time we got the check, it had been almost 5 hours since we put our name on the waitlist. And then we were also charged for the beef added to the queso, even though we didn't ask for it. Honestly, really disappointed. As a GM in the restaurant industry, I know it's not that hard. To wait that long for crappy food & to get overcharged is a joke. Also, there were countless employees standing around on their phones. Refills took forever. Seemed they cared more about closing than their quality of food and service. Will not be back. read more

The 2nd circled lady was the worst and her attitude was so sarcastic and rushy. The food was horrible, I didn't even want to take the left overs home and I love taking my left overs! This is a great place if you love the amusement park cheesy experience. We love that kind of thing! Before you go though, you need to understand what you are paying for in order to decide if it is worth your time, calories, and money. For my kids, they are all in! We came here for my child's birthday. She wanted a fun vacation day at Rainforest and Round One. We saw this place for the first time at Disneyworld where they have another location. So when it is cold, we crave vacation vibes. This is the place for that. They have beautiful fish tanks throughout the gift shop and restaurant. They also have an abundance of animatronic animals which my daughter loves and appreciates that react to the occasional thunderstorm. The waitstaff was very friendly, accommodating and hard working, especially since they seem to be experiencing a shortage. Due to this, the restaurant does not appear to be at full capacity and you really should make reservations in advanced if you want to get in. Luckily I made them online because when we arrived they were booked for the entire day. A couple of things you will need to know about the food as well. It is not the best, and it is extremely pricey for what you get. Really, you are paying for the experience and not a gourmet meal. I actually really like their club sandwich and fries. They have some good ranch as well. My daughter ordered a yummy smoothie and it actually came with the glass. Not too shabby since the drinks are already pricey. That was a fun bonus souvenir. One kid got the ribs, they were pretty tasty, and the other pasta Alfredo with chicken and broccoli and mashed potatoes. She enjoys them. Plus what birthday meal would not be complete without the volcano brownie ice cream sundae with a sparkler. She had been looking forward to that for ages. We had a great time here and this place is more of a once a year or every two years activity for fun and special occasions. Although the kids do stop in the gift shop often to see the gator/ croc (not sure which one it is) that lunges and the talking tree and browse their fun gifts. If you have little kids, out of town guests, or are just curious it it worth coming at least once as long as you are prepared. Style over substance. The place is cool for the gift shop and tropical vibe, but the food is really lacking. My mom and I had a big gift card that could be used there so we stopped by a couple times and both times were really disappointing. The food is obviously frozen, unseasoned and just lacks any real quality. The best thing they have are the appetisers, the quesadillas, spring rolls etc. But their mains are very subpar. The pasta I had was as dry as the Sahara and when I asked the server for more sauce she said she'd have to charge me and damn near put her finger in my plate trying to show me the sauce, or lack thereof. It was my first time back to Rainforest Cafe in probably 20 years. I was bummed they got rid of "kids eat free" Wednesdays but whatever. You pay for the ambiance/experience. I appreciated the social distancing protocols as no two tables were near one another which made the meal feel more intimate already! We were placed at the table nearest to the bathroom, and next to a fish tank. It was PERFECT, considering I had to take my kids at least 4 times to the bathroom! The food was delicious! I was anticipating worse, based on reviews, but we were there to celebrate a 5 year old's birthday so I was more focused on the fun atmosphere rather than the food but it was a pleasant and welcomed surprise! Our server was top notch, EXCEPT for not filling water. Other than that, she was fantastical. She appeared to either enjoy her job or be good at faking it (I also work with kids so I know how to do both too). The volcanic dessert was such a fun treat and huge! Our meals were so filling we didn't completely demolish the dessert like I thought we would. It was so worth it! And apparently the GLC location is one of the few that still use an actual sparkler in it. It was so fun! The thunderstorms were fun with kids, and I was surprised to find out that my youngest was scared of Rainforest Cafe but luckily in such a way that she just wanted to squeeze a hand or get an extra tight hug. Came here cuz we were at the mall and thought it would be fun for our almost 3yo. Expectations for food wasn't high as we were paying for the experience mainly. However! The food was actually pretty good! I got the fish tacos - blackened cuz I like spice. Even though there wasn't much flavor in the fish other than a little spicy, it was tender and the jalapeño sauce goes well with it with pico de galo and red cabbage. You could also put some of the black beans on the side with it for extra flavor and moisture. Only complaint is that the filling wasn't consistent from taco to taco. One needed more sauce and another had too much cabbage. Aside from me being too picky, it was solid! Wife got the meatloaf covered with bacon and it was just as good as mine although very different flavor profile. The bacon was sweet and chewy and to eat that with the savory meatloaf with the gooey cheese in the middle with some mash potatoes was wonderful and filling. To lighten things up and prevent a heart attack haha, you got some nice lightly sautéed broccoli, squash, and red onions which wasn't over cooked. What a fun place to take the family! The restaurant is unique, a jungle atmosphere with animatronic animals, rain pouring, fish tanks etc. there isn't a bad view in the place and very entertaining. Think of a grown up version of Chuckie Cheese. The menu selection was good but prices were a little high for adult meals and since it was lunch, I opted for lettuce wraps. They were very flavorful and the waitress asked me if I liked heat. I aid no so she had the sauce served on the side. Good choice! The best thing about the menu, however, was the kids menu. The meals were $9.99 and came with a meat/main dish, 1 side and apple juice or white milk. The sides were relatively healthy: fruit, vegetables. The kids ordered the dinosaur nuggets and popcorn shrimp with fruit. The plates were melamine type plates with an animal motif (see picture- even though the kids are quite a bit) and FULL of the shrimp and chicken. The kids were thrilled. The fruit was fresh sliced oranges and apples. I was so impressed with the freshness of the fruit and the kids ate their entire meal. You have to know what you are walking into when it comes to this place! You are paying for the experience of the restaurant, not the quality of the food. I went with my nine year old niece and she loved it! For that, it was well worth the visit. The food itself took quite a while to come out but was decent. I had a Cajun pasta dish, mom had a chef salad and niece had a kid's mac & cheese meal. There wasn't a whole lot of flavor to any of the dishes, but again, you are not really here for the food.
