Listen..... not everyone does fried fish well. Happy to say this IS one of the places that does! Ambiance: small space with a nautical theme. Has enough space inside to comfortably sit 10-12 adults. No music or gimmicks. Just you, the cashier, and a window to the kitchen. Simple but gets the job done. Food: I ordered the small catfish basket which included two pieces of fish and one side. I picked fries and ordered a side of hush puppies. I was sooo excited that even though I ordered this meal to go, it was still warm and crispy when I got home! Fish was fried to perfection. Great texture. Moist on the inside. Flavorful but not too salty. They give you complimentary tartar sauce and hot sauce which was delicious. Also tried their bourbon sauce and garlic sauce which were both great with the fries especially. And those hush puppies... good flavor and texture. I would definitely order this entire order again. I had to come back and order their fried shrimp since that is what I normally eat at these places instead of the fish. I also wanted to try their mac and cheese also. The chocolate cake slice was just asking me to try. While the shrimp is higher than other places, I have never had such large shrimp fried and they are now in my top 3. Warmed up easy the next day in a toaster oven. The Mac and cheese was good and not too spicy. The hush puppies are very good and will be a good substitute for the hard to find Long John's Silver places in metro Detroit. They are just a little small for the price. I had the catfish combo and ordered the 5 pc wing combo for lunch tomorrow. My sides were mac n cheese with the wings and greens with the catfish. I tasted a little of everything and the rest will be lunch (or dinner) tomorrow. Catfish - delicious! Perfectly battered and fried. The filets were a little smaller than expected, but good. The tarter sauce was delicious as well. I wonder if they make it themselves. Wings - also delicious. They asked if I wanted lemon pepper seasoning on them....duh! Who doesn't like a little lemon pepper on their wings. Well seasoned, fried hard, but not crunchy. Mac n cheese - good. Very cheesy. The noodles were a little overcooked, but it was definitely homemade, not the kind you get from franchise chicken places Greens - nice flavor. I think they use a little vinegar in them. They could use a little smoked turkey though. Overall - great meal. The fish and chicken is cooked as it's ordered so you don't have to worry about it coming from under a heat lamp. I visited this location as a Yelp promotion. Overall the location has potential. Staff were friendly but the business could use some maintenance or updates. The drink fountain was down entirely which was odd. "Koolaid" fountains didn't look that custom and were self serve into styrofoam and didn't look cold. Ice was offered from back kitchen. The cold case next to register just had condiments and deserts stacked but no presentation. My husbands catfish was good but I didn't care for the cod and Mac and Cheese. Overall, it could be a nice place but I didn't feel it was meeting potential at this visit. read more

This place is way better than the majority of the we buy you fry type of places. The fish seems to be a much higher quality. The orange roughy my friend ordered was very flavorful and not overly battered. The only issue with this place is the hours. The hours are very hit or miss some times on the weekend. This place is inside a plaza so a little difficult to find at first but once you find it you'll think ahhh now I won't miss it. There is a dine in section so you could sit in if you wanted I ordered the carry out for my lunch. Was very easy to call and place a carry out took only 12 minutes until it was ready. Staff was super friendly and nice. The young men had very good costumer etiquette, they actually called me back to make to ask if I wanted seasoning on my fries. Super friendly. Very clean looking and nice location. I got the Walleye basket, it was delicious! Great flavor and breading was yummy too. What a gem hiding in plain sight! I was really impressed with this spot. We got a catfish box, which came with a drink and a side. Prices seem to be super fair for the amount of food received, and everything is really great. We were here on a Sunday, and it was only one employee working. It's a make to order set up, so you'll wait just a few minutes for your food, but it's well worth it! The macaroni and cheese was really tasty, and the hush puppies were outstanding! First of all, the aroma when you walk into the shop is a good indication of the good food you're about to receive. I ordered the whiting combo with mac & cheese, and I also ordered coleslaw. I loved that it was made fresh, and it only took about 10 minutes. The second thing I loved is that they used cardboard boxes for the fish instead of styrofoam so the fish wasn't soggy by the time I got home. I do wish they'd consider some non-styrofoam containers for the sides, though. The fish was good. I'm not sure I've had whiting before, and while I do like fish, I really can't tell one kind from another, with a few exceptions. It wasn't greasy at all. The mac and cheese was REALLY good. Definitely homemade -- or, if not, an amazing shortcut. There must have been several kinds of cheeses in it. And, it was a very generous portion. The coleslaw was good as well. I'm so glad they opened fairly close to me; there are times when I really want fried fish or fish & chips, but I never know where to go. Now I do! read more

My husband and enjoyed an order from this restaurant's Pontiac/Waterford location sometime during the pandemic. We had an Uber Eats coupon. We gave them a try and was impressed with the fast delivery, freshness and good taste of the food. Even the Uber driver expressed how impressed he was with the restaurant as our order was his first delivery from them. So, imagine my excitement to see that they opened a restaurant in my Southfield neighborhood. My hopes have been dashed after having 2 visits and 1 delivery from this location. To begin with, our order taker, a young man, had an attitude that rhymes with "witty" but begins with an "sh". We'd ordered two combo meals with distinctly different side dishes. He basically threw it all together without any regard to what went with what and so my husband and I had to separate out our orders. But here's the kicker: my husband ordered chicken tenders and when he requested Ranch Sauce for them, he was told that it would be an extra 50 cents. Mind you, I'd spent over $30 for 2 meals. In addition, the tenders had so much lemon pepper that my husband had to peel off the coating, and he still didn't enjoy them. I went to get food as part of a yelp event to try out a brand new fish place. I got the yelp try out food, plus extra food to split with my wife The positives: One of the staff was nice, and all the equipment, from tables to the counter area and TV, were all new. The menu is pretty expansive, centering around fish. There was no old grease smell which you can get in some fish places. One of the staff members was polite and friendly. The not so good: The strip mall is half abandoned. The store wasn't dirty, but it wasn't very clean. The food was okay. The mac and cheese and slaw sides were bland, and the fish was decent but not good. The breading was well cooked. read more

I wish these people luck; they're off to a fine start and I hope word spreads. I went in to try this new location (there are two others in the Detroit area) that had been open for about a month. Both the service counter employee and the cook were cheerful and courteous. I ordered 1) the small whitefish basket/meal for my wife; it came with a small order of fries and a Pepsi, 2) the Chicken sandwich for my son, and 3) a 10-piece battered shrimp for me. I then ordered small sides of fries, mac-n-cheese and hushpuppies. Everything hot and cooked fresh. Hushpuppies to die for, reminded me of the south! Please, gentlemen (and ladies?), keep this up and you are "half-way home." [Remember, there is nothing worse than cold or soggy fries with a meal.] Service courteous and efficient and they bent over backwards to make sure my order was right. There are two or three small tables and a window counter for dine-in but their Yelp page states they are carry-out only at this time. They offer some cake slices for dessert, but that will be next time, because I will be back as I love to support a new business that makes a solid effort. read more

I was invited here for a Yelp elite event. I knew exactly where the location was because my favorite gluten-free restaurant used to be in the same plaza. As I walked in I was greeted by the cashier, I told him I was here for the Yelp elite event, he marked off my name and asked me if I wanted the fish sandwich or the seafood basket. The seafood basket is actually just pieces of fish or shrimp and a side. I ordered the three piece perch basket and mac & cheese. I was told it would be about an 8 minute wait. Since I have gone gluten free I brought the food home for my husband to try. Even with the 30 minute drive the food was not soggy and he said tasted good. The breading on the perch wasn't too thick, and actually had a great taste to it he says. He did not use the tarter sauce I brought home for him. The Mac and cheese was cold, so he warmed it up for a few and enjoyed that as well. The employees at this location were friendly, and my husband said next time he was working in the area he may stop in and try a different fish basket. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that this is a carry out location only. read more

Cod and fries was good. The fish slipped out of the coating . I don't think they are using a three step breading. The lemonade, strawberry lemonade, selection was Kool-Aid and my concern was that the liquid was not filtering or circulating around the container on the top. It looked stale as if it should not have been served. I opted for cans of pop instead. The cooler for the pop, the grate that was near the floor was missing, and the coil was very dirty. Overall, I think that I need to mop the floor a little more often than what they've been doing. read more

This was just a terrible meal. We ordered catfish and wings. The catfish tasted like it had freezer burn and it was mushy. One unfortunate bite was all it took to know this wasn't going to get any better. The wings were rubbery and just not well seasoned. I was disappointed with all of the positive reviews but my experience was abysmal. We won't return. read more

My family orders from here weekly & have never had any problems, that is until last night. We always order fish which never disappoints. Tonight we opted to also order cut wings (wing dings). The wings were spoiled. As soon as I removed them from the bag you could smell that they weren't good. We ordered them online which goes through Slice, so I reached out to Slice. When they contacted the restaurant they were told the wings spoiled because we took an hour to pick up our food. 1st of all it wasn't an hour, 2nd we never received the "your order is ready text" & 3rd even if it were an hour the food would be cold & not spoiled. The restaurant refused to even consider that the food they served was spoiled. We could not eat it & had to throw it away. This restaurant just lost a weekly customer & I hope that they discarded the disgusting chicken. read more

Good food I am definitely gonna be a return customer.... 1 thing tho..... which is really irritating but won't stop me from returning.... The card board boxes for the to-go food gets really soggy in and by the time u make it to where you are going the box is falling apart.
