Husband hadn't seen a dentist and when he needed one urgently, Dr. Rooprai put him on the schedule immediately. Moved his day around to accommodate a root canal and follow up. Now I'd like to do the implant, and they provided an estimate (in a document entitled "Financial Arrangement") for the implant which said: D6061 Implant UCF: $2728 Estimated Fee: $1364 Estimated Primary [Insurance]: $613 Estimated Patient: $751 ... I made an appointment. I was contacted by the person responsible for insurance and billing, to reschedule to an earlier date and was informed that my insurance wouldn't cover it, and I would be expected to pay over $2000 to cover the appointment. I cancelled the appointment and spoke to my insurance company, who assured me this was covered by my plan (very much in the way of the original estimate), since I am in the HMO and they are a provider. I called today to try to get a new appointment for the implant and was told that because it was an oral surgeon, It wasn't covered under my plan, and that it would be $2728 for this appointment. I tried to make the case for my insurance telling my that it was covered, but that fell on deaf ears. I called my insurance again and they reassured me that it was covered whether it was an Oral Surgeon or not, as long as I was within the HMO providers. I can only say that I have no choice but to find a new Dentist, and try to let anyone that reads this to make sure they know what they are getting for their money and to beware.
