I went for an exam and was very comfortable with the staff and dentist. They gave me a full xray using a machine that went around my face and got a pic of jaw gums & nerves. They also took individual pictures of my teeth individually with a hand scanner. After that the dentist explained to me healthy versus bad teeth. I hadn't been to a dentist in awhile. I was worrie. They didn't overwhelm me and seemed honest on the work I needed. I will go back and get started on getting my teeth gums and mouth healthier! You can tell when someone likes their job! As a surprise to me I didn't know new patients got a free electric toothbrush at the receptionist desk. They said new patients get them while supplies last. It works perfectly with my waterpic. Recently my wife and I became new patients. The process was painless and smooth. I've already had two appointments. My first appointment was for x-rays and a cleaning, and my second appointment was for two fillings. From the moment I checked in Bridgett (Office Manager) was extremely patient with me. She went over the details of our coverage and answered all my questions (I had a list of questions that I wrote down) making sure that I had a clear understanding. Brea, RDA was very comforting, polite, and informative while getting me prepared for each procedure. During the procedures she did an excellent job of keeping my mouth clean and preventing anything from falling down my throat. Dr. Kara performed my cleaning. I didn't feel any pain and my teeth came out polished and shining. Dr. Winslow performed my fillings. I mentioned that I didn't want to feel anything, and I didn't. He was very light handed and communicative. All in all my experience was great. I have another appointment to get a wisdom tooth removed and I am confident it will be another positive experience from the moment I check in to the moment I exit. read more

TLDR: this dentist performed the most painful and rough drilling/filling I've ever had and it was the sort of experience that causes people to have severe dental anxiety. Plus, overall, the office was consistently late/disorganized. If I ever want to feel panicky, rushed, and in pain, I'll come back here. I came here for three total visits. The first visit should have been a very standard x-ray, exam, and cleaning - super simple and quick. I budgeted two hours of my life for it, which seemed excessive, but ended up being insufficient. The first visit: it took an hour for me to get seated in the chair and have the hygienist come around. The hygienist (understandably) did a pretty fast/rushed cleaning to try to save time. Unfortunately, everything was so late, the exam portion was pushed back to another visit, which was scheduled a few weeks later. The second visit: the office was running late, but less delayed than the first visit. However, that "exam" consisted of the dentist spending a total of five minutes with me, just reading x-ray results. He informed me that I had two "small" cavities, both on my lower jaw, the furthest molars back, that could be dealt with quickly. It was so short and cursory that it could have been an email! I don't recall getting a gum check (where they measure millimeters of gum depth / inflammation / etc) at either the first visit by the hygienist, or the second visit by the dentist. The third visit: the straw that broke the camel's back. I came in ten minutes early for a 1pm appointment to get both "small" cavities filled. It took until 130pm until the hygienist came around and started prepping things. Apparently people were late coming back from lunch; the overall vibe was rushed, stressed, and running late. The dentist started with topical analgesic on a cotton swap, but he placed it in a way that a flap of cloth hung down my throat and I gagged. The dentist then did the injected analgesic, and ignored me as I tried to gesture with my hands that he was going too fast and being too rough. He said something dismissive, to the effect of "it always hurts" or similar. Then the drilling began. The tooth was not fully numb, and I jerked in pain while drilling; he then injected more analgesic, very roughly. At one point, I could feel the needle in my jaw and he pushed so hard it rocked my head back and forth. WTF do you even do at that point? He then finished drilling and began filling. Communication was minimal to non-existent through the whole process. At one point I tried to ask roughly how far we were, like 10% or 90% or halfway. He seemed to hesitate and then said "I guess 90%?" like he wasn't sure. He then told me that they were large cavities, across the entire tooth, and I learned I was only getting one done at that visit. There's a joke somewhere about a dentist who talks a lot and asks questions when you can't reply, but that would be far better than a basically silent dentist who can't be bothered to say "turn towards me" or "tilt your head this way" or "open wider" or "relax your mouth" or "now I'll drill some more" or "we're almost done". "Please" and "thanks" would also have been great to hear occasionally. It's now been about three days since that visit, and my jaw is still incredibly sore (probably because of the injections, not the drilling). The hygienists and the schedulers were fine, pleasant, polite, etc. But the general always-running-late vibe wasn't great, and then the dentist himself was just awful. If I ever want to feel panicky, rushed, and in pain, I'll come back here. Otherwise I'll drive the extra twenty minutes back to my old dentist. read more

Came here because I had a stubborn molar that was giving me pure h*ll!! The staff are so friendly and welcoming. It felt like family. My first visit was with Dr. Herrera and she was a dream to work with. She was incredibly polite and informative when speaking about my stubborn tooth. She provided me medications and listened when I told her of my pain. I appreciate her kindness and willingness to assist me at such short notice. Because you guys, it was painful! However, it wasn't painful enough for me to consider a root canal as I am not sold on the procedure. Needless to say, I came back in for an extraction. Let me mention that Dr. Winslow did a great job! He listened to me when I said I was in pain and provided numbing agent to ease the pain. BUT YOU GUYS! I don't know what I though an extraction would be like but it was a painful final goodbye to that tooth. Literal tears. I think that's normal tho. Dr. Winslow sure had to put in a lot of elbow grease to literally yank the tooth from my head. Props to his dental assistant whose name I do not know, she was always kind. Long story short, the tooth was removed and I enjoyed my vacation that followed. I never received a follow up appointment to check on the healing process but I'm doing great. read more

An absolute wonderful first experience! I was looking for a new dentist after being at Promenade Dental the past 8 years or so and came here after reading the rave reviews. I wanted a dental office that made it easy to make online appts, because who has time for phone calls, so I sent an appt request via a form on their website. Vic replied back via email, and he was great. We exchanged insurance info and appt dates and we were set! Fast forward to my appt day, & I was greeted warmly BY NAME (Hello Miss Melanie) by every single staff member I encountered. The hygienist was incredibly courteous and took extreme care to ensure my comfort during my x-rays. On my initial patient forms I mentioned some anxiousness with dental (just a tiiiiiny bit, from a slightly negative wisdom tooth experience years ago), but they took this into consideration every step of the way and handled me with kiddy gloves without making me feel silly. Dr Herrera did my cleaning and told me I only needed a basic cleaning even tho I was told by my last dentist that a deep root planing was needed. I was also told by the other dentist I would need to increase my cleaning frequency to 4 months instead of 6. I didn't mention this, so I was happy to hear Dr Herrera tell me during the course of my cleaning that my teeth only needed the standard 6 month check-up. She also educated me on taking care of my teeth & provided an extra soft toothbrush & dropped some extra floss knowledge. During the cleaning she took her time and was extra cautious about my tooth and gum sensitivity and took pains to ensure I didn't feel any discomfort. At the end of the cleaning I didn't have to pay a dime. At my old dentist I would always have an additional $25 upcharge for fluoride. I'm super happy to have a new dentist that makes me feel warm and welcome and I'm looking forward to my next appt. It's the first time in 8 years I felt happy after leaving a dentist appointment, not just like I was a number! read more

I have been to over a dozen dentists in my lifetime so far...each one has been an unpleasant experience filled with pain, because I've always had really sensitive teeth. It left me with a fear of the dentist's office. However, this is the first time I can honestly say that I had a pain free and pleasant experience. Dr. Winslow, over the course of 4 visits, finally was able to remedy all the issues and concerns I've had with my teeth that had been causing me pain and problems. Additionally, he has never once tried to upsell me on unnecessary procedures or items. That is really rare nowadays. His staff has always been helpful, courteous, and nice as well. Right away from the moment Victor answered the phone I knew I'd found the right place. Every single visit, procedure and interaction I've had with this office has been delightful. Really unhappy with the service here. Had an appointment as a new patient a while back, I showed up 15 minutes early to do the paperwork and they kept me waiting a full hour past my scheduled appointment time. Then I was scheduled nearly 8 months out for my next cleaning due to their availability, really not cool as it took me several months of waiting in the first place to get my initial appointment! Now I've had to reschedule a week out from my cleaning due to work. I tried calling two weeks ahead to reschedule but they were closed for the holidays, no blame there, but clearly I'm trying to give appropriate notice. Was told they can't fit me in until May. That's 5 months from now after I've already had to wait 8!!! I've cancelled, this is totally not cool in the slightest. Highly recommend trying elsewhere to any who read this. They're friendly but entirely unhelpful and their scheduling is garbage, don't expect consistent care for your teeth here they're too busy to take care of you! Pretty damn annoyed right now they'd make me wait over A YEAR to get my next cleaning. No way Jose, bye!!! read more

I am editing my review as the team has addressed all of my concerns. Coming in today I was able to see Dr. Winslow, which for me was the most significant difference. When I first had the work done it was a good experience with him. A bit of extra bite on the filling but it was adjusted by the female Dr. at a later time. The experience with her that day seemed rushed and made me extremely uncomfortable in terms of the results. Today when I got in, I was seen immediately as opposed to the hour wait both times previously. I really appreciated the sense of urgency and as always the office manager had a smile and great greeting every time anyone walks in the door. I was able to express to the kind assistant my issue and she gave me a form so the issue was documented for Dr. Winslow. Instantly he was able to fix the issue and check that the teeth had no issues from the fillings that were placed around a month ago. I cannot leave a complete 5-star because it reflects the previous and current experience. I can honestly say that from here I feel much happier with the office and will prefer Dr. Winslow for any work in the future. During this visit, I can honestly say that I genuinely had no concerns about the treatment, results, wait-time or anything else. It was a smooth experience that left me feeling comfortable with the care and understanding of my current dental status. I'm extremely glad that this was a better experience. To those inquiring ensure you feel comfortable with the Dr. and I believe Kim is their service and accounting. If I could rate this dentist more than 5 stars I would. I have had major dental work here from a extraction, root canal, crowns and each time it was a positive experience. Dr. Winslow is gentle and can administer those dreaded shots practically pain free. Every single person on the staff is professional and very friendly. While there you feel like they genuinely care. I am new to the Sacramento area and unfortunately got a very bad tooth ache and started to develop some swelling, I call their office and explained these symptoms and they told me the earliest they could see me is in 3 weeks...I told them this was emergency level dental pain and if there was any way they could see me even a week sooner, and they said they could not. I luckily switched insurance and called to make an appointment with a different office and they offered to see me same day and explained that if swelling got worse I would need to go to the ER.
