I have been searching for a small dental practice with a good dentist who is gentle and who takes their time with patients. I used to have a dentist like this years ago, but he retired. I am not comfortable at the large practices where you seem to get shuffled through and always leave wondering if you have been upsold. I am happy to say I recently found my new dentist! I recently have been coming to this office as of this year after breaking a tooth, and I am really happy I made that choice. It had been a couple years since I have gone to the dentist so I was really nervous coming back, and Dr. Patel was so amazing through the process. She was very kind and understanding, and I felt that she had a really good game plan for future visits, which helped ease a lot of the nerves that I had about returning. I recently visited my new dentist in Natomas, and I couldn't be happier! They all are exceptionally skilled and attentive, going above and beyond what I've experienced with other dentists in recent years. Being a single mom, my funds are tight and they have been soooo helpful with working with me on my payments. A lot of trust which just makes me want to be there and do more with them. I feel like sometimes I am a hard fit and my new fav girl Stephanie makes it feel like home every time I am in, which is usually my day off were I pride myself on using as little of my brain as possible on those day since I also work in the medical field as well. :-)))) lol. I've been seeing Dr. Patel on and off since 2003. I've always tried to choose insurance she accepts so that she can take care of me and my family. The last couple of years have not been the same. For some reason, I've always felt pressured to do deep cleaning and my regular cleaning was not performed. I finally made the decision to leave this dental office because I was not being taken care of. Their priorities have changed. I was left at the dental chair with my gums bleeding since I was poked to show my insurance my bleeding gums (took photos) and left me there. Did not even offer to wash it off or offer me to rinse my mouth. I had to ask Stephanie if I could use a mouthwash. Terrible. During the stressful pandemic, I had another dental provider. They did the basics, but each time I was there it was a different dentist. It was like Dental Roulette. And they overreacted to the pandemic to the point where you could not even sit in the teeny waiting room. I was getting tired of freezing my behind outside. At one point, they referred me out to a provider in the Bay Area. I thought "This can't be right. I need Dr. Patel." She used to be my dentist. Stephanie is a rockstar. I'm very excited about finding Dr. Patel after having a great experience as a new patient today! It's always stressful trying to find a new dentist and even moreso when you haven't been in a while such as myself due to this past years circumstances. I called the office today and corresponded a few times with Margie, who was very helpful verifying my insurance and provided pricing. To my surprise they were able to get me in the SAME DAY for my consultation, which seems to never happen! When I arrived for my appointment I was welcomed in by Margie, signed for the electronic paperwork I filled out prior and taken back immediately after with Aleah(sp?), the dental assistant. She took her time explaining the x-rays and pictures she took of my teeth. Aleah was very gentle and took her time to make sure she wasn't hurting my mouth because we all know those x-rays aren't always fun. Shortly after Dr. Patel arrived and introduced herself, was very polite with a great beside manner, and proceded with my exam. I appreciated that she explained everything in detail as she performed the exam, showed me the x-rays and pictures on a big screen and was very thorough. I was pleasantly surprised that they were also able to complete my cleaning on this same visit! As I checked out, I was given a detailed summary of the visit and what to expect next with my follow up appointments. The girls in the office were all so friendly, outgoing, and helpful! This might be a lengthy review, but I want to give context on why I'm choosing to give Dr. Patel 5 stars so bear with me. I went into a different dentist after a crown fell off, in hopes of replacing it. After X-rays and examination, I was told that I had an infection in the bone below a previous root canal and the "only" option they gave me was to extract the tooth and place an implant (dentures for my age are not an option and leaving the tooth missing had a high chance of shifting my teeth). I care about my teeth, I had braces for two years in my adolescence, and the thought of having missing teeth at 30 genuinely frightened me. They offered to do the procedure that day; however, everything that was estimated was to take over the course of 6 month to a year and was going to cost $4200 out of pocket. And the reason for that cost is because instead referring me to a specialist, they were going to do it themselves but needed all of this extra equipment to guide them that insurance does not cover. Instead of working with me, I was told I can take a credit line out with CareCredit.. for ONE tooth. I come from a small town and an old school dentist who made it work for his patients because he values them. I did not feel valued by the other dentist. Working as a public employee in the Natomas community, I cannot in good faith, refer the other dentist to my co-workers or my family. I needed a second opinion and a realistic treatment plan for me. I found Dr. Patel after researching many dentist offices locally and was able to get an appointment that week. Since I just had an exam and consultation with the other dentist, my insurance would not cover my visit. Dr. Patel and her office manager, Samantha I believe, worked with me to ensure that I would not have to pay a large sum for this consultation, which made me immediately feel that I can entrust the health of my teeth with her. She gave me hope that my tooth can be saved and referred me to her endodontic specialist that can better assist the treatment needed for root canal therapy as she as a general dentist has limits. The specialist she works with was able to get me in that same day, my exam and visit came out to only $70. It turned out that I had bone loss and he felt that my tooth can be saved with root canal treatment therapy. He did it all within an hour, properly utilized my dental insurance and the cost of the total treatment and exam came out to $453 which was 1/10th of what I would have paid the other dental place. I still have a 6 month road to recovery to see if the bone will grow back, I am set to replace my crown with Dr. Patel's office, and from there see how my bone is responding to the treatment. I highly recommend Dr. Patel and her staff. I also will be referring her to my co-workers and their family. read more
