My wife went in on for a tooth extraction, the oral surgeon was not available. Didn't get get charged anything. Was referred to a different location for the tooth extraction. When i got a letter from my insurance stating i who 270.00. I contacted the dentist office for the initial visit. Melissa, met with me and explained all the things that were billed to the insurnace for the intial visit, and what the insurance did not pay they just simply wrote off as a loss. My wife and myswlf were not responsible for what the insurance did not pay, which where x-rays. Melissa asked us to contact her if we had any questions or concerns in regards to the second visit at the other office. Some time ago I lost a crown and Promenade recommended removing the tooth and having an implant ... which they did, and did the bone graft in preparation. SO far so good. Now I'd like to do the implant, and they provided an estimate (in a document entitled "Financial Arrangement") for the implant which said: D6061 Implant UCF: $2728 Estimated Fee: $1364 Estimated Primary [Insurance]: $613 Estimated Patient: $751 ... I made an appointment. I was contacted by the person responsible for insurance and billing, to reschedule to an earlier date and was informed that my insurance wouldn't cover it, and I would be expected to pay over $2000 to cover the appointment. I cancelled the appointment and spoke to my insurance company, who assured me this was covered by my plan (very much in the way of the original estimate), since I am in the HMO and they are a provider. I called today to try to get a new appointment for the implant and was told that because it was an oral surgeon, It wasn't covered under my plan, and that it would be $2728 for this appointment. I tried to make the case for my insurance telling my that it was covered, but that fell on deaf ears. I called my insurance again and they reassured me that it was covered whether it was an Oral Surgeon or not, as long as I was within the HMO providers. I can only say that I have no choice but to find a new Dentist, and try to let anyone that reads this to make sure they know what they are getting for their money and to beware. read more

*** Deep Cleaning Trap *** After the exam, I was told I needed a deep cleaning, and that they cannot perform basic cleaning at all. Later, I looked up more reviews in platforms like google/yelp (which I wish I had done earlier), and I noticed that other people had similar experiences -- showing up hoping to do a basic cleaning done, and being told they needed deep cleaning instead. In my opinion, here's what it felt like: If you have insurance: They might use up all insurance benefits for X-rays and exams, and then tell you deep cleaning is the only option -- which could leave you stuck or needing to pay out of pocket elsewhere. If you're uninsured: They may offer a low-cost new patient package, but once you're there, it might turn into a much more expensive visit if they say they cannot perform basic cleaning at all as you need deep cleaning. What I didn't realize -- and wasn't clearly told -- is that once you get a deep cleaning, you're typically placed into a periodontal maintenance program, which is more frequent and often not covered the same way as regular cleanings. It's not just a "more thorough" cleaning -- it's a shift in how your care is managed long-term and how your insurance treats you from now onwards. They also recommended an expensive laser treatment, which costs $$$ out of pocket. This one seems to be the experience of several other reviewers and a common pattern. Positives: The dental imaging tech was excellent -- super friendly and professional. The staff was generally nice (although the sales tactics felt pushy, almost like dealing with a used car dealership.) .. Last year I got a cleaning done with them, and they pushed for the extra laser cleaning, which wasn't covered by insurance, saying I needed it and that it would kill all the bacteria and infection below the gumline, something the regular cleaning would not do. I was having problems with my gums so I paid the extra out of pocket and got the procedure done on all 4 quadrants. Less than 2 weeks later, I returned to their oral surgeon to get remnants of a previously extracted tooth removed, as part of my treatment plan. Even with the anesthesia injections, it was an extremely painful procedure that had me in tears because lo and behold, there was an infection! How did I have an infection if I had just gotten their laser cleaning that was supposed to kill all the infection? They overpromised and underdelivered. When I asked about it, all they said was yeah, when there's an infection, the anesthesia doesn't really work, and just shrugged it off like it was nothing, I paid extra for a procedure to ensure I wouldn't have an infection, yet I was in tears from the pain because there was still an infection under the gumline. Their apathy and lack of accountability or remorse was so unnerving that after this experience I avoided going back to them again. I put off going to any dentist because of this horrible experience. But then around Thanksgiving, I was having issues with an old bridge and needed to get it replaced. To my regret I went back to Promenade. In hindsight I really wish I had just picked a random dentist out of the phone book rather than calling them again. Instead of giving me my overdue cleaning or needed fillings, they made removing my bridge the priority, only concerned with making an appt for the bridge repair, Then when it came to that appt, they told me the teeth underneath were not salvageable so I had to get them both extracted by the oral surgeon and then suggested that I extract the other teeth they had recommended in my treatment plan as well, all in one fell swoop. I agreed to one additional extraction, which I also regret. After the extractions, I had to pay $1000 PER TOOTH out of pocket for bone grafts because I wanted to get implants instead of a partial denture in place of the missing bridge. Then I'm told that I maxed my 5k limit on my insurance with all the treatments that I got that day. So any cleanings or fillings I needed, I'd have to pay out of pocket or wait til next year. It was only a month, so I figured fine, I'll wait it out. Couldn't do anything at that point and I didn't want to pay more out of pocket, on top of the thousands I was already paying out of pocket. Now on December 31st, come to find out, although they had billed my insurance $5600, the insurance only paid them $446. I still had $4400 of insurance benefits to use this year - that I now cannot use because the year is over! I could have gotten those fillings and cleaning despite what Melissa initially had told me. I understand insurance claims don't come back right away, but within a few days they knew that they misinformed me and then never corrected their mistake or let me know that I could in fact continue my treatment plan because the insurance was not maxed out. It wasn't until I called and pushed for answers after I got the statement from my insurance - and by then it was too late. Do not trust what they tell you. First with the laser treatment not stopping the infection, and now with my insurance billing, forfeiting thousands of dollars of services for the year. . Their mistakes and misinformation cost me more money, stress and pain than their service is worth. Find another group that will actually provide quality service and manage your care in a way that actually makes sense for your treatment needs. read more

I came in and they did the xrays very nice staff until the "dentist" (who doesn't want to "work" but rather rip out all of your teeth. No hoke! I can't believe I forgot to write a review of our horrible experience with Office Mgr MT and questionable insurance billing practices. My husband would come here for his preventative care. A couple of times, he would go there for other services. I work in healthcare for over 20+ years and am very familiar with medical billing. I started noticing that my EOB and the charges from the office did not match. I was being overcharged by the office. I reached out to the office manager MT, and she stated she would look into it. All of a sudden, she must have thought she was Casper because she started ghosting us. She will not return our call. I even remember telling my husband that I would go with him to his appointment so that I could rectify the billing issues. As we were parking, you can clearly see the front desk from the front parking lot. We saw the office manager see us get up her chair, and she left to the back. I walked in and asked for her, and the front staff told me that she was not in. I said, "We just saw her go to the back; she then said she was busy. She never came out until we left. I even made sure I let the front desk staff know that the Office mgr is being shady and I will be reporting this for possible questionable billing. After weeks of trying to get my over $200-$300 overcharge. It was lies after lies. Hubby had another service, and the overcharge continued. So I reached out again, and finally, the mgr stated she would look into it. She finally called me and told me I was correct (months later) and that she would issue a refund. It took her 2 months to refund my money that they overcharged. This is mind-boggling because if I didn't know about medical billing, this office would have had taken over $300 of overcharges that should have been written off. I can't imagine how this affects the elderly or the patients unaware of the medical billing practices, and so, they get away with charging extra. After this was resolved, I moved my hubby elsewhere, where he is now happy and has no overbilling. Overall, the care was okay, even though Dr. Dole was one of those dentists that come in and leave. Bedside manner was nonexistent. Although the matter was resolved, I recommend that patients to look at their EOB and contact insurance to confirm the allowable amount and your responsibility. Dental offices have been known to be a bit shady with billing. If all fails, request that your dentist submit a prior authorization to the health plan 1st. This may be an added step, but you will be able to discuss cost with the insurance company since authorization pinpoints the type of service you will get, and so, the insurance company can determine if it is covered and what your responsibility is. Ultimately, I did file a complaint (grievance) with the health plan. read more

They extracted my molar within 20 minutes and sent me home with pain killer and anti-biotics. My co-pay was $70! I DO NOT recommend them and here is why: - Front end staff can be unpleasant and rude (exception to Brenda who was kind during my visits) - Unknown charges that I was completely unaware of and had to appeal with my dental insurance, what a pain and waste of my time! - DR. GILL is rude! I had a tooth that was uncared for and suppose to get a root canal but ended up cracking during the procedure which called for emergency extraction. She was so excited to learn that do crowns in house so she would have her cleaning and crown done the same day! I've been coming here for probably 8 years and was always meh about this place but not really motivated to find another dental office. The method by which they do things electronically is nice, but I had the worst last experience with the office staff that just put me off. At a recent cleaning appointment, it was determined I needed a deeper cleaning. As a result, I had to book a follow up visit because hygienist wasn't available the day that I was there. No big deal. I booked a follow up appointment a few weeks out. The week leading up to the appointment, I began experiencing sensitivity (cycle related, but no one's business) so I rescheduled for another day a few weeks later based on availability. It wasn't last minute, and I didn't think anything of it. Typically I confirm my appointments online when they send the reminder, so I was surprised when I had multiple missed calls a few days before to confirm. I didn't get a chance to answer due to being at work, but I was planning to call them to reschedule because I had started to feel something coming on in my throat and didn't want anyone in my mouth if I was getting sick. My appointment was supposed to be the next day. When I called back, the male who answered was going to patch me through to Brenda to reschedule, but made a comment about how maybe I should call back another time when I WAS READY, because he could see I had rescheduled multiple times already. I was literally on the phone, calling to reschedule. But that was enough. They made me feel as if I was a criminal for having issues come up and I was some kind of irresponsible flake when I have always kept my appointments and canceled them ahead of time if there were scheduling issues. I can only imagine how it would be if I was nervous about dental visits to begin with. The office staff is always changing and very rarely do I see the same people, but regardless, I'm now looking for another dentist. I had an upper and lower full implant Put in a few years ago.. A bottom tooth on the low rim plant broke plant broke because the lower and upper teeth were misalined and I had them repaired. The upper plate broken half broke in half because it was not seated correctly on the post. They were also repaired.. The bottom tooth I'm tooth that broke once before broke again again and the upper tooth booth on the other side has also broken. I was told that these would be covered for life for life and now no I was just told that they were not but. I came here for a few years and then I had enough and found a different office. They cancel my appointments so often here. I come for a cleaning twice a year so I book my cleaning 6 months in advanced after each appointment. That requires me to block off my calendar and request time off work in advanced so I can go to the dentist. Multiple times Promenade has canceled my appointment last minute, leaving me trying to find a time that accommodates the leftover appointments they have. This happens quite often and they made me reschedule the same visit 3 times. The cleaning is really quick and that's not necessarily a good thing. I was in and out in 30 minutes for a cleaning with an x-ray. I don't think they do a thorough job. Every single time I go here, I get a letter in the mail from my insurance saying some of the services I received is not covered by my insurance and I owe my dental office money. When I asked Promenade why they are billing me these services that I never received from them, they told me not to worry about it and I don't owe anything. That sounds quite fishy and it seems like they are trying to bill extra services to my insurance. One thing I do like about them is that they're very technologically advanced here. The bad thing about that is that I don't like about that is that all my signatures is done electronically and they don't show or give me a copy of what I'm signing. I can honestly say I NEVER write reviews on places but felt the need to share my experience at Promenade Dental Group to hopefully provide insight to other patients going through similar situations or potential patients looking for a new dentist. I recently had a permanent crown procedure completed and from start to finish the entire process was a nightmare. My initial prep appointment took 4 hours with rushed efforts, a lack of customer service, and I was left sat waiting in the dental chair for 45 minutes intermittently while the dentist tended to other appointments. The dental assistant was coughing every 2 minutes which felt unsanitary, was inadequate at using the xray machine causing for hiccups in this area, and was negligent in just her overall body awareness as she pulled my hair, hit my head with the equipment, and dropped dental tools on the ground and had to be told to replace it by the dentist. My appointment was so long, I had a secondary dental assistant during the second half who finished up my temporary crown cementing process and sent me on my way with no aftercare instructions and again lacked professionalism with a rushed demeanor. Following the procedure, I was in an immense amount of pain that lasted for the entire week to follow. It felt a mix of a sinus infection with a migraine that lasted 24/7 unless I took 800mg ibuprofen. I had to self diagnose it was all due to my bite being off and too high on the temp crown side when all the dentist kept pushing was a root canal would be potentially needed. The minute I started wearing my bottom retainer to bridge the gap, all pain subsided within hours. I had to go a week later as my temporary crown fell off despite following any aftercare I could google as no one took the time to tell me anything there and my permanent crown appointment wasn't for a few more days. The day before my permanent crown appointment they called and told me they'd need to delay my appointment another week as the "lab had messed up something with my crown" while all over their office posters of "same day crowns no more waiting" are plastered everywhere....At this point I've waiting 2 weeks for my permanent crown. I finally go back in and it doesn't fit properly, so they have to send it back again as "due to the holidays, it wouldn't be ready until the new year" so I had to wait another 2 weeks for the crown to be adjusted again. Finally come the new year, I have my appointment and what is expected to be a relatively quick appointment still took 2 hours as I was sent back and forth between the dental chair and xray machine at least 4 separate times as they made minor adjustments to my natural tooth. I wear Invisalign retainers at night time and made it known to them to make sure it would fit properly with my new crown. They said they'd check them at the end and still failed to do so and I had to remind them as they were saying I was good to go. Low and behold the retainer did not fit and the dentist was inadequate at fixing it and literally cut off the end of it that was not popping into place. For those who do not know, these retainers are not cheap and you have to pay out of pocket for them typically... The dental assistant came in and said he'd try to fix it and asked me why they cut the end of it off as if I have any dental knowledge to understand their mistake... He asked if I had any work done on my back molar to which replied no and he said they didn't need to cut the far end of my retainer off in the first place as that wasn't the issue. The crown made for me was wider than my original tooth which was causing a warped effect. The dental assistant had the audacity to say "next time you have work done or if you have another crown again, tell us you wear a retainer because then we'll scan your tooth to be an exact match" IS THAT NOT THE PURPOSE OF A CROWN TO BEGIN WITH? Additionally, I have a poor habit of grinding my teeth and the damage shows for itself and and every appointment without a doubt the dentist asks me if I wear a retainer and I say YES. So now, I'm to blame for not knowing your dental processes and I'm to blame for your lack of noting your patients' details?? He said we can make you a new one for $150 (after already paying $1500 for this entire crown process to begin with) like you all needed more money to correct a mistake your team had done to begin with? The entire process was an absolute mess, I complained verbally to them after my very first appointment to give them the benefit of the doubt of fixing things before publicly posting this, but after everything I went through it feels a disservice to not warn others. DO NOT COME HERE unless all you need is a basic cleaning service (honestly, even that, just find somewhere else to invest your time & money). read more

Cannot speak about doctors as I did not get to the stage of actually seeing one. My spouse is quite happy with the doctors there, but we both are rather unpleasantly surprised by somewhat rude reception personnel and office manager's attitude. $59 new patient promo is borderline bogus classical bait and switch, because even if you provide no insurance information they will look it up (justified as legally required) and will not let you to benefit from the promo "because you have insurance". In result they lost me as a prospective patient and probably thousands dollars in revenue within next year. Asking a patient to "just sign here" (pointing at e-pen with small screen showing signature field only) without actually presenting the document being signed also feels shady. Have no intention to deal with this multiple times a year. The moment I hinted that I am not going to move forward with insurance covered payment method I heard "Okay, Bye". I only went here because Kaiser sent me a DeltaCare card. I found out this coverage is Only for an exam and x-rays. (come to think of it, I only got x-rays. Dr. Dole didn't even look in my mouth.) Anything over that you pay for. I went in because I had an infected tooth and I told them that while making an appointment, and that I needed the dentist to pull the bad tooth. After the x-rays and waiting in the room for some time, Dr. Dole comes in. He doesn't look at my teeth. He just tells me that, after looking at MyChart medical records, that I have to have the oral surgeon pull my tooth. Why? I ask. Can't you pull a tooth out? I ask him. He says yes, but as I had a procedure done around my heart, I might "Bleed to death"! What?! I tell him I am Not on any blood thinners and that the procedure was done over 6 yrs ago. No...he says I have to have the oral surgeon do the extraction...and the oral surgeon only comes in TWICE a month! ( I'm thinking...did this guy just graduate dental school? He's so afraid of pulling my tooth?!) Mind you I'm in serious pain. He at least called in an antibiotic prescription to Kaiser to help with the infection. Lucky me, I get an appointment with the oral surgeon the following week. BUT first they needed a letter from my cardiologist saying I'm ok to get my tooth pulled! Unbelievable!! Yes, I emailed my Dr. and in his reply he practically laughed, saying I could have major surgery and still not bleed to death! This is the worst dental office I have Ever been to and I'm in my 70's! The phone Rings & rings and IF they answer, you are asked to be on a brief hold..brief being up to 20 minutes! Or you get their default answering service, which is a total waste of time. There's another whole vent about the prescription screw up...but I'll leave that out here. IMO the people I dealt with at this office are rather incompetent, or don't give a crap. (except for the technician who x-rayed my teeth) Since I found out I had to pay for procedure myself...I just called up my family dentist of 20 yrs., who got me in right way, he pulled my tooth and I DID NOT DIE!! And it cost half of what this place was going to charge me. Do yourself and favor and stay away from this place. When I started my new job, I needed to find a new dentist and luckily this one was the one that came up because I love it here! Dr. Alexa has now been my dentist for a year and I couldn't be happier. She is amazing and friendly and really puts your health and happiness first. The wonderful receptionists are always so nice and know you by your first name. I just referred my boyfriend and he has his first visit and loves them just as much as I do. I highly recommend this dental office to anyone!! read more

The oral surgery went as planned: I was given comprehensive instructions about the procedure, written and verbal. I knew what to expect. The surgery (tooth extractions) was quick and practically painless. Cleaned up followed. I was given home post surgery instructions and it was done! Dr Khattak is amazing! I had a crown placement and some other work done. He showed a lot of finesse in his work and kept asking me if I was ok and comfortable. He specifically told me the amount of time each procedure would last and what my options were regarding treatment vs extraction. He was gentle, thorough, professional and compassionate! Came here today to get one impacted to extracted come to find out both needs to be removed. I was told by the dentist I should have got my wisdoms out before I was 25 we guess I tried that and I could never find a oral surgeon the was ever comfortable to remove it. Now that I'm 30 I find a oral surgeon that's willing to take it out but I have to be sedated so they had rescheduled not mad at all. Dr Chu is great and explained everything to me and me feel comfortable when it's time for the procedure. This is the first time ever I write a review but I am so devastated by my experiences with the dentists at Promenade Dental Group that I had to share them as a warning to potential patients. I endured a succession of bad treatments starting with my root canal procedure. 1) First, my temporary crown fell off due to a rushed placement done by a woman who tried her best to hurt me while she was smiling. I have seen dentists all my life and know normal gestures vs violent ones. I rushed to the office from my job the very next day where Melissa told me that this is normal to lose the temporary crown in the cold with the cold air hitting my gum and totally ignored my complaint. 2) Then came Doctor Doyle, who looks like he is straight out of a horror movie. He was so brutal he started to dig my tooth without local anesthesia!!! I am not a dentist but I know that you need more than numbing liquid for a root canal! He got visibly irritated when I told him that I could feel it and asked him to numb me more. He then started hurting me purposefully. 3) I refused to see Doyle on future visits and switched to Dr Gill. Because she's a woman, I thought that it would be a little better. I was so wrong! She is rude, loud, and awfully unprofessional. She had me wait in the office for 40 minutes saying that she needs to pick her daughter up from school after asking me to come next week which I couldn't because I have a tight schedule. When she finally came, no apologies, no greeting, no explanation. She brutally pulled the seat down and started working on my tooth. She shouted at me during the whole procedure and kept tearing the corner of my mouth when I kept telling her that it hurts. She did all she could to make the visit painful and uncomfortable for me: pouring water all over me, using the suction tool wrong, hitting my face, shouting and rolling her eyes. The dental assistant kept pouring water on me and sticking the suction tool on my lips while laughing. That was SO NOT FUNNY to me!! When I told the assistant not to pull the corner of my mouth so hard while Gill was pulling the other the same way because it was starting to tear, all she said was Ay! Ay! Ay! ...And they both kept pulling. At the end of the visit, I was left with no information and had to ask the assistant if I was done. Gill then came back to the office staring at me while I was taking all the white mess smeared all over my face. I felt neglected, humiliated and physically hurt above all. The only good service I have had at Promenade was with the dental hygienist Anita. She is so gentle and genuine. Brenda and Tony are also courteous and welcoming. I hope this review will help future patients avoid such awful treatments. read more

I was a patient here several years ago & I have to have the two crowns I had done at this location..redone because they were poorly molded, not properly fitted, and my teeth are exposed. Of course I was sceptical of my new diagnosis so I had a 2nd opinion and met with an ortho specialist and all THREE AGREED they need to be done. So I wasted my money here and now I have to pay again..beware. read more

My husband had a mediocre experience here a few years ago with a same day crown. When we discovered this was one of few dental groups that accepted both types of our insurance, we decided to give them another try with our three kids. I called and scheduled a first appointment with for our three girls. They were able to get us in pretty quickly and asked me to email over their dental X-rays from their last dentist. I did. When we got to the office, it turned out they had information for all three kids, but only scheduled two and couldn't see the oldest. (Ages 13, 7 and 5). They were scheduled for a new patient consultation. And nearly an hour of waiting (in an awful crowded waiting room) after our first appointment time, we were called back. We were mainly in for a second opinion for our 7 year old and a possible cavity. The quickest of all exams was done in the smallest room, we far back of the building as possible, that resembled more of a closet than a dental office. Our 5 year old was nervous. Rather than be patient and ask her questions like her name, or anything, she attempted to pry her mouth open to examine and then just gave up and began lecturing the oldest on how she cares for her braces (which was unnecessary considering she has good hygiene). Our 5 year old left sobbing. I figured maybe it was just a rough day, maybe over booked or poorly planned. I called this week to schedule a cleaning. Perhaps they would then be scheduled better to have more patience. I asked for them to be scheduled for the same afternoon. I was placed on hold by a very rude and impatient scheduler in excess of 5 minutes. When she returned to the call she told me that would not be possible. They could perhaps, maybe, do two back to back appointments. I made it clear I wasn't in a rush for an appointment. I could wait up to a month or two for them to be seen together. Nope. Not possible. When I explained I had no desire to go to the office with all three of them on three separate occasions, it was explained to me that no one would ever be able to do that (except their doctor office does, the optometrist does, their last Dentist did....) and I needed to schedule them separate. I declined. I then called to speak to the office manager. My call was disconnected more than once. I used their contact form to reach out to the office manager about our experiences and never received a response. Normally, I wouldn't discredit an entire business based on one or three employees possibly having a bad day, but it seems to be the way they do business. read more
