Prestige is my go-to for my all my haircuts. The staff is always friendly and are great with dealing with customers. I'm not a big talker when it comes to haircuts. For me, my haircut time is a time where I can relax for a few minutes. What I appreciate from the staff here is their ability to "read the room" and know after a minute or two of small talk, they recognize I'm not much of a talker and not try to force conversation on me. They cut my hair with precision and allow me to unplug during my visit. Beyond that, I always receive a great cut, hot towel neck shave, and a relaxing shampoo experience. I possibly am a mutant. You read that right. My super power is that my hair grows really fast and it is super unmanageable. It isn't very useful, but that is what the big ole Stan Lee in the clouds gave me. I hadn't had my hair cut in Jacksonville since arriving here last August and I finally couldn't wait it out. I had to find a place. I read the reviews and was impressed enough to come in. I called and arrived 15 minutes later. There was someone ready to go so I sat down. My barber was named Angela and she was very nice. I explained what I needed and showed her a photo. Angela got to work fairly quickly. Angela was great at conversation which made the haircut go by quickly. A couple of things have changed here though from past reviews. If they do offer you a beer with your haircut, it didn't happen to me. That was a little let down. Also, I had expected a hot shave on my neck and didn't get one. I was a little bummed out about that one too. I like my haircut, but it was slightly shorter than what I had asked for. I think this is tough to criticize, however. Specifically he told me to ask for Harry. 3 1/2 years later I still go to Harry. I could probably count on one hand how many people have cut my hair. I had no trust issues in him and he followed every instruction I gave him while cutting my hair how I wanted it. The girl that answered was so professional and polite over the phone, it automatically made me want to choose this one. I arrived, waited a little while and left completely satisfied. 7 months after my move and I've finally found my barber shop. This place is much nicer than the other places around town that I've been going, and it's hard to beat the price. $16 for a good haircut is a steal. The shop is on Touchton behind Tinseltown, so it's convenient if you work at any of the mega-offices on Gate. Like most places in Jax, they will hand you a frosty beer when you come in (still getting used to that). The interior is awesome. I was a little apprehensive about what my haircut was going to cost when I sat down in the comfy leather barber chair. Erik cut my hair. He seemed to give me his undivided attention when he asked what I wanted, asked a couple of clarifying questions, and went to work. He was efficient and professional and I walked away with a pretty solid haircut. While I might not rate it quite as high as my hometown barber shop in Atlanta, I'm going to go ahead and give it 5 stars. Best barber shop experience I've had in Jax. read more

Nikki is awesome. The free beer is of no use to me. Hot towel after haircut. Probably the nicest barbershop I've ever been to. Priced same as others in the area - $16 (+tip). However, only one guy can do flat tops and he's always too busy. So if you need one, go to Price's in St. Augustine where everyone can do them. read more

Did you know there are upscale barbershops? I have visited hip barbers and classic barbers and tattooing barbers, but this establishment is upscale with its clean interior, comfortable chairs and all-female stylists (during my two visits). I called in advance to see if I needed an appointment and was told I should not have to wait when I arrive. All barbers smile and offer conversation if you are so inclined. I recommend minimal talking during your shave, and I have gotten a shave both times. I keep telling myself I will get one of those hot lather dispensers, but then I remember I keep a goatee because I really do not care for shaving and it allows that much more of my face to be covered by hair in an acceptable fashion. While I do not pamper myself very often, a real shave is my equivalent to a spa day and I urge you gentlemen to give it a try if you have not done so. The barbers are experts in the hair arts and I trust them to cut how much ever hair using whatever clipper/attachment they choose with an objective of making me look good. So far, I left there twice looking presentable. Mendy gave me great hair tips given my hair was not responding favorably to the humid climate. As I have mentioned, being open Sunday is really great for me--inevitably something comes up on Saturday and I do not leave work during daylight hours during the week so I there are hours help me from being too unkept looking come Monday morning. So, it was my first time there, and I just happened to end up with Stephanie. Stephanie was very attentive, and did exactly what I asked for. She was very pleasant and receptive, and let me direct her step by step so I could get exactly what I wanted. In my experience, a lot of barbers either mind that, or they just ignore you and do what THEY want, instead of what you want. She was really nice, and gave me a good haircut. read more
