i've been to at least three different barbers here on a walk in every time I regret it, I don't believe that any barber here is licensed. Their main clientele are children. If I could give less than one star for the cut I received I would. No one genuinely looks better when they leave the chair. Honestly wish I could refuse to pay for services here in Florida. I would've definitely not paid for any cut. I received here. I wouldn't even hire them to cut the homeless. read more

My first review in Jax! Happy to say I'm able to give this place 5 stars thanks to them for doing an awesome job on Anthony's hair cut! It's a very typical barber shop, everyone was friendly, welcoming, and even the clients were just chilling and hanging out with the barbers. Seemed very friend and family orientated which made the atmosphere more enjoyable. Of course I didn't get my haircut but Anthony did and he loves it. It's a bit a pricey but you get what you pay for and he would say it's very worth spending $20 on a haircut. Luckily for us this place is RIGHT below our apartment. Safe to say this will be Anthony's go to barber in JAX from now on. read more

It's nothing like it was years ago. The fact that the shop has closed one half of the barbershop says it all! I told a barber I was growing my hair out, he pushed my line up back and shaved the edges down... smh. All I asked for was a line up. Needless to say, I was dissatisfied with the service. Upon my first (and as of right now, only) visit to this establishment I noticed the location was prime real estate close enough to Paris Nails and Tan. This means, while your significant other is getting his hair cut, you can sneak away to the nail salon and get pretty for yourself. There is also a Wal-Mart across the lot in case you have a long wait for the haircut. There are two main entrances. One leads into the very comfortable waiting room, complete with leather chairs and a great view of the many tv's that are hung around the place. The other entrance to a smaller section with plenty of chairs for waiting patrons. There is a doorway where you can get to either side inside the business in case you need to go to another side. There are plenty of barbers to choose from as I saw many working on customers and others cleaning up hair and tools. A good thing to see, as you know cleanliness is one selling point to any establishment. It is well decorated with empowering images on the walls, great lighting and red walls. The red is a nice touch and a great color as it doesn't seem like an angry color (considering asking them which color they used so I can paint my son's wall this shade). I called in advance to check about getting an appointment and how much would his cut cost me. Definitely didn't break the bank! Only $15 for them to shave his hair down and line it up (tape it up) just right. This included his eyebrows getting cleaned up! They were so polite and courteous on the phone when I called and made me feel confident about choosing them as my son's barber. Archie was waiting on me when I walked in and was polite as he shook my hand and addressed me by my name, and even took the time to know my son's name when he shook my son's hand. This meant a lot to me as my son has ADHD and needs somewhere he can go that will make him comfortable. There is plenty of hip-hop and R&B playing over the speakers, which keeps the environment lively and fun. If you do not like hip-hop, maybe you can ask them to put on another station. I didn't think to ask. Overall, my son was happy with his experience and I was happy with the service. My son was made the master of his hair and Archie was more than happy to oblige. My son was absolutely satisfied with his fresh cut and I was happy that he loved it. I recommend Center Stage as your go to barber if you need a good fade, shape up, tape up or anything in between. These guys know how to handle their customers and their needs. I will be making another appointment soon! read more

Let me start by saying Ernest saved my butt! I walked in literally after visiting another hair salon with a botched cut & green in my hair after unicorn color removal to transition to blonde. The salon I had just left does the coloring & the salon next door to this barber shop does the cut. However, the salon next door to this barber shop that usually does my cut was closed...so I went to this barbershop explained what had just happened & Ernest assurred me I'd be taken care of. All I wanted was a female, sexy cut. I got that & then some. Wet or dry the cut he provided was sensational! I showed my mom & sister my selfies & they lovvvvvveeeeedddddd it. They agreed with me that this was the best cut ever. I walked in off the street looking crae crae & walked out looking hot! Thank you Ernest...no will ever cut my hair but you. I know a lots of people & when I find someone who knows what they are doing I'm there walking bill board! The guys in there are freaking hilarious. They took my mind off of the disaster I walked in there with! Clean, great atmosphere will definitely be back! read more

Great barbershop, centrally located. I haven't had a bad cut yet! This is definitely the stop to make for your cut or trim.

My haircut was great, but upon paying, I was told I owed $22. I had called the previous day on the phone and was told it would be $15.

Worst cut ever!!! I'm wearing a hat this whole week. Apparently they will give anybody barbers license as long as they pay the school. Barbering used to be a craft now it's a hustle. Smdh read more

This is a great barbershop. They have barbers who can cut any hair type in pretty much any style you like. That is the main reason why my son and I go to this shop every week or so to get haircuts. In addition, there is always great conversations between the barbers and other patrons, as well as, good music being played here. Most of the time you can catch ESPN or a football/basketball game playing on the many TVs in this barbershop. Since this place is very popular, sometimes you have to wait a while for your favorite barber to become available. However, if you don't have a preferred barber you shouldn't have too long of a wait, because this shop has at least eight barbers to cut your hair on any given day. Also, for really busy days, such as weekends or days preceding a holiday, there is easily double that number of qualified barbers to help keep wait times low. For those times where there is a long wait and you're not interested in watching tv or participating in a spirited debate about sports and/or current events, you can always ask for the wifi password from any barber and find something on the interwebs to pass the time. read more

Since relocating to Jacksonville a few years ago I've been frequenting Center stage for my beard upkeep. When my original barber skipped town the owner/lead barber directed me to his "Other beard guy" named Jamie. BTW please avoid Jamie if you have a beard and desire to keep it looking presentable. If you merely want a basic cut for your son by all means enjoy his services. I gave specific instructions but apparently those instructions were beyond his skill set even as a licensed barber. Now, to error is human and I completely understand that and barbers are no exception but when said barber attempts to conceal his error w/beard dye instead of being a professional and owning up to it, I can no longer respect him as a man let alone as a barber. You've been warned. read more
